The worst place I have ever stayed inThis was the worst guest house I have ever stayed in; the room was dingey, small, had not been maintained for a long time, the walls were very thin. It said non smoking, but the room stank of old smoke. Pigeons woke me up in the night at different intervals as they nested somewhere in the roof and on the ledges, and a fellow visitor came in drunk and rowdy in the night shouting and banging around. I didn't get any sleep and got up the next day very tired. I didn't bother with breakfast for fear of dying from food poisoning or something. I had a shower at the office I was going to down the road....luckily they had one! I would recommend only one thing to people going to book a rooms here.....don't!

This is the worst guesthouse i have had the misfortune of staying in,in a long time.Dirty cramped room-wallpaper,paint and everything else coming off the walls,mysterious stains on the bedcovers.I agree with the gentleman that recommend you take them off the laterooms site,gives you a bad reputation.It charges hotel prices and you get a rundown backpackers.

The Hotel was basic, smelled of spicy cooking. Single room was very small. TV was situated high up on the wall so you get a sore neck lying in bed watching it. (And you had to lie on the bed as there was no chair to sit on)

My name is Mr Craig Hand and I was on business in Reading with my colleague Mr James KIrk, The Bow Guest House looked ok from the outside but the room was in need of redecorationg (Wallpaper border ripped and hanging off) but the shared bathroom was filthy with think brown grime around the shower. It was the worst place that I have ever stayed in! The breakfast was extremely poor, badly cooked and cold. Please go and look for yourselves. I stayed in room 7. I think that the reputation of your company is harmed greatly by the Bow Guest house and I would suggest that you take it off your books.Many thanksCraig HandRetail Shop Interiors Ltd

overall a very poor experience

The guest house was a little basic and the standard room shared amenities with another, but the bed was comfy and the room warm. Decor was very basic and shabby (toilet cistern lid was cracked, chipboard desk with no power socket etc.) but more than adequate for an overnight stay. Wireless Internet connection was useful, although a remote control for the TV would be useful too. Overal, a reasonable hotel for the money and great for access to Reading Town Centre (5 minutes walk) and the staff are very friendly and obliging and do serve quite a nice cooked breakfast; if you are on a budget but need to stay near the town centre, this is a good choice.

The hotel was adequate and good value for money. Would use if just needed a bed for the night but would not recommend for an extended stay.
