I needed a central Vancouver location to stay for one night and on that note Bosman's fit the bill. It was easy (apart from city construction you can't blame the hotel for) to get to, parking in their lot was in and out. Some people might had an issue with the traffic on Howe, but not a problem for me. The hotel's definitely run-down, the room has lots of finish problems, there were patches in the enamel on my sink, the rug was old, etc., but it didn't look dirty, just poorly-maintained. The light in the hall -- the main light in the room controlled by the switch next to the door -- was out, for instance. Where I was sort of brought up short, however, was that my second-floor room was within walking distance of the hotel's entrance overhand. Someone small could relatively easily have gotten up on the overhang and entered into any number of rooms on the second floor through the window (which was open for air on the warm July afternoon I was there). I considered asking for a room change, but didn't, although I'd suggest checking it out for yourself before settling in. The advertised hotel wifi just didn't work. The pre-printed instructions listed a network that neither of my computers could find, and when I tried to access the Bosman's network that was listed, the password didn't work. Didn't discover that until late on a Friday night, and by then I wasn't feeling like going down to the hotel lobby to see if whoever was on duty somehow knew more than I did about computers, which seemed unlikely. I had a Saturday morning seminar to go to, and I'd been sort of looking forward to getting a leisurely breakfast to get me through the day (along with catching up on some email), but the attached restaurant didn't open at 7 (nor did it have any posted hours) which was disappointing. So, the doors locked, the shower worked, it was relatively inexpensive and it was close to where I needed to be. On the down side, I did spend some considerable time looking for someplace else to g

Last weekend I went up to Vancouver with some friends, thinking we'd get a cheap room at the Bosman's. Biggest mistake of the weekend. Don't be fooled by the price, it's not worth it. The staff was rude, and kept track of every person who came in and out of the hotel's only entrance and exit. When we tried to have some friends up to the room for drinks, the guy said no guests were allowed. The room was hot, the sink leaked, the beds were dirty. If you have extra people you are trying to sneak in or are under the age of 50, do not stay at this hotel. Worst hotel stay of my life.

Nothing at all. Everything was awful. Our room was dirty, no hair dryer, lamp didn't work, literally thread-bare sheets, gross carpet, awful! Luckily we only stayed one short night (we needed an inexpensive hotel for an early morning train to whistler.) We would have been better off sleeping on a park bench!

Customer service agents were terribly unfriendy...they took our credit information over the phone to confirm the booking and when we arrived they told us they could not find our reservation . They were not the least bit concerned about the fact that we used our credit card to confirm. Airconditoners are inadequate to cool rooms properly as well hallways are not airconditioned..The elevators are filthy and smell. The overall hotel was in dire need of repairs and a good cleaning. Internet connections are super slow. Overall it was the most terrible stay. Woud NOT recommend this hotel to others.... Just remember you get what you pay for....

AC didn't work, thus quite hot. the hallway was cooler then the room. Had to open window to try & cool down & it was over the parking lot. The pool was closed 2 yrs ago so be warned!!!! Really hard to find need better map.(my GPS diden't work in Canada)

Free parking. Elevator may need some renovations. Good hotel for the price paid. Great location to downtown Vancouver.

Bosmans wasn't too bad. The price was definitely right compared to everything else. Parking and WiFi were free. But you still get what you pay for. The cleaning ladies were very polite and efficient. The drawbacks are that the hotel felt a little on the dirty side. Not dirty in the real sense. But dirty in the sense of carpet stains in the hallways, ripped wall paper, grubbiness in the tiny cracks between surfaces, etc. The place looks and feels like it's been around a while. The only thing I really didn't like was the WiFi didn't work the first Friday night until the desk clerk reset the system on Saturday morning. And then it went down again on Sunday morning, presumably needing another reset. They do not have a company remotely maintaining the WiFi like most hotels do. No one ever answered or returned my messages when I dialed the 800 number provided for WiFi technical assistance. I made multiple calls. And to top it off, the night shift clerk at the front desk was snippy and could be very unpleasant if you complained about anything. On the other hand, the day shift clerk was a very polite guy who at least knew how to reset the WiFi. The night shift guy didn't have a clue. Due to the WiFi issue, I will not stay there again. But otherwise, it was just ok.

Location is very good. Individual air conditioner in window was noisy and although we didn't need to use it, the heat thermostat was broken. Plug in the washbasin was missing, eventually remedied by a replacement with the old fashioned rubber style plug... When I asked if I could get another unit as the sink was rather useless, the man at the front desk said "they are all like that" which I didn't think was particularly helpful. Certainly that 2 star rating comment of "needs that special something" applies here.

Good location and free parking in central Vancouver. Building felt a little like a dive, elevators smelled like wet dog. If location is key, The Bosmans Hotel is a decent choice. The hotel is just a few blocks from the Civic Center, Robson Street, and the West End. But the hotel itself gives you the bare essentials. The rooms are clean and well-kept, and the free parking is great, but in a city known for it's beautiful buildings and pretty places, The Bosmans Hotel down-market looks and cheap amenities definitely make you pine for something nicer.

Had some doubts about our stay after reading some reviews on hotel sites, but found the hotel to meet all our needs for a 3 night stay. Small, older hotel on a good street close to most everything. Was never uncomfortable walking around, even at night and/or alone. Hotel is old and you can't change that, but the rooms and bathrooms have been refurbished and are clean and comfortable. Hallways, stairways and lobby could still use some new carpet and spiffing up as they still look old or dirty. Front desk was very helpful with questions. Parking is FREE, which is hard to find in downtown area hotels. Very good deal for the price. Would stay there again.

Many of these reviews are accurate. Window open so LOTS of noise from street, even late at night. Room more than adequate, clean. Lobby and halls shabby. Staff taciturn. But my conference was at the Sheraton Wall, a block away and more than double the price of Bosman's, so I was thrilled. And free wifi! Airporter easy to use to/from Airport.

My room and bath were clean and the location is as super-convenient as the larger, nicer chain hotels on Burrard a block away. Unfortuneately, the front desk, elevators, and hallways need updating desparately and at very least a rigorous cleaning. Howe Street is noisy. The clientele was fine, a mix of retirees to young people, except there were some clean cut post-adolescent stoners stinking things up it with smelly grass.

The location is good. The room size is ok. The front desk person on duty was kind of indifferent. The driveway was covered with snows and ice without being shoveled. No hot drinking water available in the hotel.

I found the hotel perfect for what I wanted, good size room, good parking, convenient to everything. I didn't find any problem with the street sounds, it is after all downtown Vancouver, right near the clubs and shopping. I found the front desk to be helpful at all times.
