Situated in the city of Kota Kinabalu with buses plying to and forth. We are within walking distance to Banks, Government Offices, Airlines Offices, Food Outlets, Shopping Malls, Entertainment Outlets and Jetty to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park Islands from (Sutera Habour Resort). We are the only Backpackers Hostel closest to State Museum and Queen Elizabeth General Hospital within 10 Mins walk. Only 8 minutes by bus to the Tanjung Aru Beach from the hostel

This is the best hotel Ive stayed at for a long time it is so clean and the room are pretty.

All of the reviews here are certainly fake!! First of all, the free airport pick-up is a LIE!! We confirmed with the staff about the pick-up a few days before we arrived but when we arrived, nothing was there. So we called them and they told us that their pick-up van was ACCIDENTALLY unavailable, simply because they used it for other tours on the same day. So we needed to get a taxi to get to their place. When we arrived, they apologised and promised that they would compensate by bringing us from the centre of town to the airport on our last day in KK. Again, we confirmed the time with them the night before but guess what, nothing showed up 2 hours before our flight. I called them and they just indifferently told me that the driver was not around. When I questioned their service and attitude, they just dropped the call before I finished my sentence. I still get irritated thinking about this experience. After all, nothing is worth at this place. Despite the horrendous service, the location is bad, their tours were much more expensive than other agencies, and they didn't give us the requested room type. I'll never ever recommend this to anyone, NEVER!!

I like this hostel, the people there is so nice (Isabilla & all of them ) they have a shuttle mini bus to the city center free, and airport trans. free , wifi net free , breakfast free.

What made this place outstanding was the enthusiasm and friendliness of the staff - the staff were absolute stars! A very clean, basic facility with communal wet/kitchen areas and tv/internet service. This was overcome with the backpackers free minibus service that seemed to run whenever you needed it, inc. airport pickup.

I had an amazing time staying at BGB, so much so that i stayed an extra week and a half longer than i intended! The Staff were EXTREMELY helpful and even more friendly. They get to know you personally rather than that of a normal formal customer relationship. Security was excellent. The only door in to the hostel is monitored 24 hours a day by a member of staff who have to buzz you in rather than you just walk in. So no non-residents allowed in. BGB is very clean, with staff constantly tidying any mess the moment they see it. The centre of the city is only a 10 minute walk away but if you dont fancy the walk then there is a free shuttle bus that runs to and from at certain times in the day, up until about 11.00pm. If you dont want to go out then you can chill out in the airconditioned lounge which has a TV, Internet, DVD player and a huge selection of DVDs for your pleasure. Good cure for a hangover! If you do fancy doing something adventurous they have a selection of tours and activities you can book through them. Things such as the Mt Kinabalu trek, White Water rafting, and lots of other tours and scuba diving trips. And to top it off the family who own the hostel also own a sports bar which has an awesome atmosphere, 3 televisons, pool table, plenty of seats and tables, and a good selection of alchohol! I'd recommend BGB to anyone i meet on my travels! Great fun, amazing people, well organised, clean, and secure! They really live by their moto: 'Come as a stranger, leave as a friend'
