Friendly & helpful staffNot only were our rooms - for both couples - far larger than expected, the staff far exceeded our expectations. Particularly the head receptionist. Friendly, helpful, considerate... made our stay in York a real pleasure.

Good budget breakStaff were good, accomodation although clean and spacious could have benefited from some routine maintenance - bathroom door jams --cant get BBCon the TV that was definitly a first, sattelite picture poor.Food, breakfast was very basic overall --good budget break location Wotherspoons pub not far away so you wont break the bank

The Hotel didn't really live up to the pictures that I viewed on the websiteThe rooms weren't quite as nice as they appeared to be as shown on the website for the hotel. They were very shabby and not very clean. You could write your name in the dust on the blinds and on the lamps either side of the bed. The carpets didn't appear to have had a hoover put over them for the whole week we were there. The plug in the sink didn't fit properly and as fast as you put water in it drained straight out again. Our courtesy tray wasn't always replenished and the cups were sometimes left dirty.

Single NightThe hotel was chosen on price. The car park around the back is a tight squeeze. However, the rooms and accomodation worked fine. A very short walk into the city centre. Breakfast was espacially good quality.

A colleague and I stayed in a twin ensuite room at the Blue Bridge when in York for a 2 day symposium, so it was intended merely as a base for the night. Check in was straighforward and the young man very polite. Our room, although in some need of repainting and a bit tired looking was very comfortable and clean. It was warm too which was nice as the weather was cold and wet, although we ended up having to open some windows as it got a bit too much eventually! Breakfast the following morning was fine and quickly served, although having ordered coffee it would have been helpful to have it explained that this was for self service from a thermos on one of the side tables. When I did find this out and got some, it was no more than tepid, which suggested it had been standing for some considerable time and not checked on. I would have asked for fresh except that we needed to check out and depart for our conference. This is really the only criticism. For the price, it is very good value as long as you don't expect anything too fancy, which we didn't. Would stay again if staying in the area.

very disappointedFirst impression in reception was the lady was not very welcoming, not so much as a smile, the entrace to the hotel was a glass door with a simple yale lock which we were given a key to with our room key (another simple yale lock) so we were a little disturbed by the lack of security available if anyone wanted to break in. There was a lovely big modern fish tank in reception but the fish could hardly see out, it was green!Room has never been Superior. TV didn't work properly, half of towel rail missing in bathroom, half the bathroom lights didn't work and bathroom shelf was grotty. No glasses for brushing teeth in bathroom. Bed was the best thing about the room as it was super kingsize and clean. Bedside lamps were lovely until you turned them on and then saw the layer of dust gathered on them! One of the reasons we chose this hotel was for it's modern looking celler bar to be able to relax with a drink in after a day out, but it was shut! We asked if it open to be told they could open it for us if we wanted but who wants to sit on your own and the girl was covering reception aswell so we would not have had very good service in there.Breakfast was nice and the girl who served us was pleasant and prompt but this did little to appease us as we were extremely unhappy with the rest of the hotel and certainly would not recommend anyone to stop here.

weekend breakA excellent hotel. Very friendly staff with good service. Don’t be put off by the distance to the town centre, it’s a nice stroll and not to far. Hotel room was a lot better than expected. This was the first time we have booked online, all went well. Lovely hotel for a short break.

Great place to stayWould highly recommend the Blue Bridge Hotel, very close to the city centre, easy to find (head for the Mecca Bingo!!!) the room was very modern and warm, 10/10 for breakfast - we would definately stay again

Nice room, shame about the heat!we had room 9, which is a nice enough room but is located next to the hotels boiler room, so its a minimum of 24 degrees and thats in april, so look out in the summer! the hotel have fitted an air conditioner unit but its not big enough to reduce the temperature, turning it off and oprning the window full reduced the temperature a degree, but still too hot for us, that said the hotel is in a good location only 10 minutes walk from central york, the Edingburgh Arms Pub just along the road sells good food and ale as well as having sky sports if required. Another few hundred yards further on is a Wetherspoons, with cheap beer and food, so no problem if on a tight budget. Good Breakfast in the hotel filled us for the day, and hotel has parking which is a big plus. Would we go back? Yes but not in room 9!

Nice place.Well placed to access the city centre on foot. My only gripe is that the bathroom was cold, other than this we had a very enjoyable stay. Excellent breakfast to set you up for the day.

very clean and pleasant, hotel and room, very comfortable beds and a well cooked breakfast. The only issue we had was the attitude of some of the staff who were not over helpful, indeed on arrival we were told that if we wished to have a drink in the bar the evening into merely ask at reception, on doing so the answer we had was \" that they could do if we really wanted but that there was ot much stock anyway\" needless to say when faced with such enthusiasm we went out.

This Hotel is in an ideal position for York 5 Minutes walk to centre, Our room was very clean the shower was hot and powerful, food very good quality and the staff very helpful and friendly,The only down side we were on the top floor at the front and my partner said the traffic noise woke him at 7am, but he is usaul up at 5.45am didn,t wake me! If your a light sleeper ask for room on back.
