Great looking hotel in Puerto Plata. We got the standard room and it does not include in room refrigerator refills, you must pay $10.00 per day. In room safe is also $15.00 for your entire stay. On the upside,the reception was quick and efficient, the beach is well appointed and gorgeous. The buffet was always varied, and the three restaurants were good. The hotel is not a five star hotel, but the staff is friendly and if you are in Puerto Plata, you should go to enjoy the beach. I would definetly go back.

The grounds were always kept up, and food was excellent. The actual room was not very luxurious. I truly enjoyed my stay at blue bay. The resort has a village setting to it with a one-minute walk over a bridge to the beach. The pools were very nice with romantic beds surrounding the pools and also on the beach. The food was always very delicious with good variety. The resort had a full time activities team that kept the people always entertained. The nightly shows were not the best but still fun to watch and some were better then others. The rooms were always clean and nice; however they were not very luxurious. One word of caution is this is an adult's only resort, do not bring children. If you have kids or teenagers, you would be better off going to a different resort. Overall I thought the resort was a 4 star, and the rooms I would say are a 3 star. I was very pleased with the resort and would recommend.

Went to BlueBay Villas with my mother to get some much needed rest and relaxation and that is exactly what I got. The lobby is beautiful and the landscape was that much more beautiful throughout the grounds of the hotel. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly and always answered any questions we had. There were always activities planned throughout the day to keep you entertained and occupied. Personally my favorite was playing pool volleyball. The food was very good and everything was always clean. The beds are pretty hard and had some lumpy pillows but all I had to do was call the front desk and the pillows were replaced. I got used to the mattress so no biggie. We lucked out since it was beautiful weather most of our entire stay. If you are looking to relax and unwind I'd definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

I just returned from my honeymoon at the Blue Bay Getaway in Puerto Plata. Overall my husband and I had a great time. The hotel is a good value for the money. The beds were very uncomfortable and the food got boring after several days, but overall we had a great time.

For my first time out to DR i liked my experience at this resort just wished the food was more cultural instead of the same stuff I can eat in the states but on the whole I was happy .............

The food, the cleanliness and the staff. The hotel was great. No complaints. A wonderful romantic vacation gets way which is suitable for honeymooners or people in need of a little TLC. The nightly entertainment fantastic, the food first class and the staff polite and courteous.

BlueBay is amazing. The food, the atmosphere and the people. We loved being here for our honeymoon. The buffet food was wonderful -- new, different and exciting each day. The seafood, steak and asian restaurants were an added bonus. We could get drinks 24 hours, snacks and meals 24 hours. The service was unreal -- they even got you food and drinks as you lay on the beach. We will be back. They cleaned and groomed the grounds non stop -- it was picture perfect. Many resorts in the Dominican are not on the beacj -- this one is. Beach chairs, beds, food and drink restaurant on the beach -- perfection!

My boyfriend and I went & enjoyed ourselves. The overall appearance of the hotel was beautiful. It's a great place to go and relax. I thought the food was good, but he didn't. There is more of a European selection. The staff were all very friendly, they were there tend to your every need. The Anamcion team tries extremely hard to ensure you have a good time. Just a heads up, it is wise to tip some of the people that you will be seeing frequently, ex: pool bartender, waiter. Don't buy anything in the plaza, just go into town and make a day of it. I recommend this resort and we'll be back.

The hotel is breathtakingly beautiful. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with friendly porters who will give you the royal treatment. You don't even need to go to the front desk to check in, they do it for you! You get a glimpse of the pool as you sit in the lobby anticipating for the fun to come! I must say that the service at BlueBay was impeccable. Everyone was very courteous and kind. Except for the people who were trying to sell us vacationing packages. They were so quick to whisk us into their sales pitching hut but once they found out that we were not interested nor were we going to sign and pay for any future plans, they were quick to kick us to the curb. I suggest tryin to avoid them to save yourself some time unless you're really interested in setting up a vacation plan with BlueBay's other locations. As for activities, I highly recommend ziplining with Yasika and ATV/Dunebuggies (booked with VIP) in the country side of Dominican Republic. I didn't book any of the packages with the hotel/beach people but I'm sure they can help to book the same. The food wasn't spectacular by any means. It was just normal average food. My favorite was their ice cream (chocolate). I couldn't get enough of it. They also had other ala carte restaurants... I really enjoyed the Seafood restaurant - Francis (the host) was great. And I totally recommend paying $32 USD for the lobster there... we got a hugeee and meaty lobster. Thinking about it makes me drool! Last note, the braiding ladies on the beach are hustlers! They charged me $3 /per braid! Thank goodness I only did 10! And make sure you bargain with the beach sales people. Their prices are ridiculous but you can talk them down to more or less half their offering prices.

We had a very nice vacation. The staff were very friendly and accomdating, and the food and drink were good. The three onsite restaurants also had good food and service. The pools and property were very beautiful and provided a very relaxing environment. The beach area is located in a bay, and at the time of our visit, the water was ladened with sediment from a nearby river. Heavy rains preceeded our trip and caused the cloudy ocean water and debris on the beach. The beach generally was not as nice as those in Punta Cana, but a short walk about a quarter mile to the north brought us to clean stretches of beach and ocean water. Althought we did not use the golf course or tennis facilities, they looked very nice. There were shops nearby and Puerto Plata was fun to explore. We drove east to Sosua Playa were their beach was very nice with many adjacent small shops, restaurants and bars. We also enjoyed taking the cable car to the top of the mountain near Puerto Plata; very beautiful view, vegatation and trails. The only incovenience was that the first night we didn't get the standard plus room that we booked. The next day we got a bigger room, but we ended up with two beds, because they didn't have any other room available, but we would definitely return to this resort to relax and mingle with the local people.

The hotel is everything positive you read on some websites. The food is typical all inclusive-a little better then some but not great. The people working do their best to make you happy and comfortable. We had a great time-it is quiet-but as much fun as you want it to be. The beach is ok-not what you expect of the Caribbean but its ok. The pools are clean. We are looking forward to return. The only problem is there is not alot to do. Not many day time games and evenings are very quiet.

absolute top notch service through and though. our only complaint of the resort is the timeshare salesmen and women who hound you every day. we had a small complaint in our room concerning the shower and the floor getting wet but dont let that stop you from booking there. perfect beach superfriendly staff great food. just awesome. also just like 20 minutes from the airport in puerto plata

Went to DR for 6 days for fun and sun. The island is bueatiful but the hotel was less than perfect. The walls were paper thin so needless to say I participated in several of my neighbors conversations and more. The food was just ok but the worst of all had to be the entertainment. They tried, but My husband and myself had much rather gone to bed early with a good book than to endure the nightly train reck. The staff was kind but not very helpful my husband for 2 days requested some type of over the counter pain meds and was told we could walk to a local store at 11pm knowing the store was closed. I felt they could have done more to accomadate us. On a good note do as many excursions as possible we went horse back riding and white water rafting and it was the best experience ever.

The hotel has recently been renovated and is very nice. The reception area is beautiful. The staff was friendly, the food was good, the rooms were big and clean, the pools/beach was nice but alot of seaweed...but that's to be expected I guess. The only thing I was not impressed with was the entertainment. They try really hard but....most of the games/nightly shows have a sexual nature and I expected something different. Having gone to other hotels in Puerto Plata the entertainment here was bad.

We were at this hotel at May. The food was good. The staff is very nice. I did not like a room. It is very small and uncomfortable. It does not have a full bath (only shower). There is not the balconie in the room.

I had a wonderful time at this hotel except for the fact that the beds are very hard and uncomfortable. Also they need more activities. I would not return because the day of check out it wa sraining and at 8:00AM it stated to room on my head while I was sleeping. I guess there was a leak in the cieling and when i went to the front desk they said they would send someone and 2 hours went by no one came by till I just checked out. So that ruined the stay for me.

We had THE greatest time at BlueBay! It was our wedding/honeymoon and they thought of absolutely everything. Well, almost everything. The only thing was that our wedding wasn't legal. We didn't know we had to get our birth certificates translated into spanish so it wasn't "official". We faked it for for the sake of our photographer being there but saved judge fees and just got the marriage license at home. BUT.. other than that, the weather was great, the service was #1 and even the food was super. The buffet was always a safe bet, but there were three restaraunts that you can make resevations to, and we ate at all of them. VERY good food at all 3. I don't eat seafood but i had the grouper and it was sooo good. The tours are great. A little confusing because there was a guy in the lobby selling them at first and he made it seem like he was the only go to guy. But we ended up buying fom the guy in the towel hut before you get to the beach. BARGAIN with them, is all i have to say. They are flexible. Also, if the people at the resort won't budge, go to the plaza down the road and i heard they have good deals as well. We did Ocean World first, totally worth it and i would so go back every chance i had. We did the jungle safari, which was our least favorite b/c we didn't know to bring tennis shoes or a bathing suit (for the waterfalls). ASK about detailed descriptions and what exactly to bring. If you do this tour, expect a long hike. We also did the Paradise Island tour. It took about 2 1/2 hours to get there, by bus then by speedboat, but it was so beautiful once we got there. Nothing but sand and a couple shacks. They supplied fruit and of course rum (equivalence to water there) and we snorkeled along the reef and held sea urchins and just relaxed!! Just plan for an all day trip. We took a tour of downtown puerto plata and it was actually very interesting. Be leary of people in jewelery stores saying that it is pink coral when it is really conk shell. Shopping on this

Clean. Food was good at the buffet. Other restaurants were ok, but only because it wasn't our cup of tea as far as teh type of food. Had alot of fun playing water volyball. Our first day there, I requested a room change. we were on the second flor overlooking a rusty old truck and the maids building where they kept stuff. Next am we were given a different roo, ground floor right next to the bridge to the beach. Nice spot. We would definately go back again if we got the deal we got last time. This was our first tip to DR, had been to Breeezes in Jamaica at Runaway Bay the 2 previous years. Wantd to go back there but they were twice as expensive as this trip. I lokk onlin everey couple of days for the prices to drop. Played golf at the Playa Dorada course, right across the street. Kind of expensive, but we were there the last week in April 2008. Prices cut in half the first week of May. I would reccomend this place to any adults. As there are no children allowed. That's what we were looking for. An adult vacation

terrible room with a horrible view. 6 of us traveled and all got the same with 3 rooms. Complained and got better rooms but it was a hassle. Hotel was supposedly re-done in 2008 but it did not appear that way by the rooms. Also the food was average at best.

Great getaway. Relaxing. We felt very secure in the "complex". Did alot of walking, and after all the good food, you need a bit of exercise. The romantic lobster dinner on the beach is quite beautiful. The daily games were non existant. We had one game of volley ball and one "crazy game". Although the bon fire party was quite fun. With help from "Sue" we finished a bottle of Brugal in one sitting. We will come and stay again.
