Transportation:
We have an enviable location, only 5 minutes stroll from the city walls and 8 minutes to York Minster.Whether you are arriving by car, train or coach, we are conveniently located close to the city centre.By Car:We are located on Bootham (A19), approx 0.5 miles from the city centre. Look out for a footbridge crossing the road - we are close to this, opposite a very old school building. Our car park is at the rear of the property, and accessed from Burton Stone Lane (this road has the 'Burton Stone' pub on the corner.) About 30 yards along Burton Stone Lane, you will see a large car park on the right hand side. Enter this car park, and go through the gap in the back right-hand corner. Our parking is in the numbered spaces. For those guests who are not familiar with York, be warned that the city centre contains pedestrian streets and one-way systems. For this reason, we strongly advise using the York Northern Ring Road (A1237) and approaching from the North. Coming into York along the A19 from this direction, (signposted 'Rawcliffe',) we are about 20 yards before the footbridge on the left hand side.By Train:To walk to us from the station takes about 15 minutes. On exiting York Station by the main entrance (with the taxi rank,) turn left. Follow the road past the Royal York hotel, and cross straight over at the traffic lights. Go straight on, and through the gate in the bar walls (city walls.) turn left, and cross the river. Continue straight ahead to the next set of traffic lights. Turn left, and continue to the next set of traffic lights. Turn left again, into Bootham, and walk until you see a footbridge crossing the road. We are on the right hand side.Alternatively, pay about £5 for a taxi!!By coach:York's national express stop is at the railway station - see the above directions.By air:The closest airport is Leeds Bradford, which is approximately 45 minutes drive away. Manchester and Birmingham airports both have excellent train links to York, taking 2-3 hours.

Can't say I enjoyed the experienceWe stayed in room 11 which is a twin at the top of the building (67 steps). The room is very small and the quality of the decorating leaves a lot to be desired. The bathroom is tiny and the handbasin had a large crack running down it. There is no wardrobe in the room - just a hanging rail. The automated check in/check out machine was faulty. My friend paid for the room at check in using this machine and we were then asked to pay again at check out as the records did not show the accunt as being paid. This system is totally impersonal and I feel inappropriate for this type of hotel. We were woken at 3am by drunken people running round the hotel knocking on doors which went on for about an hour. I thought the cost was extortionate for the quality of the accommodation and we will not be staying there again..

Quiet, clean room which afforded a good night's kip. A touch pricey, but it was York and it was high season. Not sure about the automatic room key dispenser at the door (pay your bill, then get let in) - would have been nice to be greeted by a warm body.

Blossoms in YorkAn enjoyable stay with no nasty hidden surprises. Blossoms was located very close to city centre (about a 10 minute walk). There was also car parking available which made everything so easy. The staff were very attentive, ensuring we had a map of the city and knew where to go. The only trouble we had during our stay was actually finding the hotel to begin with as the sign was quite small and hard to see from the main road.

not the bestwas informed check in was 10am, this was news to the hotel staff, we were put in some sort annex to the hotel, small , cramped, and hot. people passing your window, no privacy whatsoever.

On arrival at Blossoms York we were immediately hurried into paying for the room upfront, hardly a warm welcome. The room itself was disappointing. The carpet did not appear to have been hoovered and one of the blinds fell off the wall! When we notified the onwers they simply balanced the blind back on the wall meaning that when we tried to close it it fell off immediately. The other blind was thin and provided little privacy and passers by could see through into the bedroom area (the room was situated at ground level). This also meant we were woken by the sun early in the morning. The location of the hotel was relatively close to the centre of town and free internet access was useful. However, I would not make a booking there again.

Good locationWe stayed here during the May bank holiday for 2 nights. We chose this hotel as it was one of the only hotels that offered the option of a 2 night stay over a bank holiday weekend. It is in a very good location, approx 5 to 10 min walk from the city centre, so no need for taxis to the main shops, attractions and night life. It was reasonably priced and the rooms slept up to 4 people (some on bunk beds!) Fine for us as we were a group of best mates on a hen weekend - maybe not so good for more mature customers! The man on reception as we checked in was very helpful and polite. The only critisim was that the website stipulated a 10am check in time and a12pm check out time when actually they weren't - we had to be out of our rooms by 10am so we had a long wait for our trains as we'd booked them with the 12pm check out time in mind. We'd probably stay here again due to the location. We were barely in the room as we were out and about for the whole weekend!

Very goodWas a very friendly guy who was on duty, he was very helpful and the room was nice, clean, and with a bit of character. TV was a bit small, but that is a minor thing. Easy reach of the city. Room at the back was nice and quiet (is a busy road at the front). I would stay here again.

Short stay at the Blossoms HotelA very convenient location - ten minutes on foot from the minster and a good selection of restaurants. A warm welcome, considerate service, and easy parking near the city centre.

Very basic accomodationI expected a much better room for the £95/night charge. We were placed into an out building of some sort that was probably once a garage ? On the positive side, the on site parking was very useful

aprilThe lads running the hotel were very professional, was abit disappointed with the full english especially the beans and sausage, the bins had not been empty but the rooms decor was modern.

I absolutely didn't think it was worth £85.00 for room only. The room was rather small with a hut for a bathroom in one corner of the room. On the top of the 'bathroom' was a large red bag which I found odd had been left in there?Location was ok and if the accomodation was cheaper I would probably have rated it better.

A Small room but adequate. Breakfast unavailable as no staff turned up until 8 am despite 3 of us requesting a 7:30 breakfast.

blossoms yorkOn arrival we had a warm greeting and our bags carried to the room, a gesture rarely received in larger faceless Hotels when often greeted by staff on minimum wage.We were given a room on the top floor (not good for the less then fit due to stairs) which was recently decorated with a stylish modern finish, the room had an excellent view of the city. The only complaint I have is that the booking fee did not include breakfast; this was at a premium of £4.50 for a basic breakfast or £7.50 for full English, a sort of bed no breakfast deal or B&BB (bed and buy breakfast) if the price of breakfast was added to the room then it would hardly be noticed as the hotel was well priced but charging separately left a bitter after taste, indeed we spent the next day in York trying to find a more expensive breakfast but failed.Overall good hotel, close to town, I’d stay again and recommend it to others.

Good service, shame about the cleaningWe chose Blossoms because of the location (which is very good) and the comments about the staff (who proved to be very helpful and the cleanliness (which unfortunately fell way short of the mark). The room seemed unprepared (there was an old pair of socks under the bed!) and the room wasn't cleaned or serviced during our stay. Disappointing considering the feedback on the site.

A small hotel not far from the centre of york. Its really more of a b&b which whilst not anything special is clean and tidy. I found the three young lads who seemed to be running the place to be very efficent, polite and could not be more helpful. When i asked on the of chance one may have phone charger for my sony erricson as i had left mine they went went all out to find me one which i particularly thought was very helpful. The didn't have to but it seems that keep the customer happy setiment prevails. Well done.

The members of staff were very friendly and helpful, for instance looking after my luggage after I had checked out. The room was good-sized and nicely decorated and the price compared very favourably with other accommodation in the area.

Well located - ten minutes easy walk to the city centre. Parking was okay but spaces were a little tight. Room was a double economy. Very small with little space for strorage. Bed was okay. We chose to have the continental breakfast but there were no crossaints.Overall satisfactory but nothing particularly memorable. Staff very courteous. Stayed in much worse however.
