My husband and I stayed at the resort for three nights. We enjoyed the breakfast as there was a great range of choices. We found the hotel did not encourage guests to leave the resort as tours were poorly promoted, taxi was very expensive to tourist village which was overpriced and had little atmosphere and all activities were charged for even volleyball which is usually provided free by all resorts I have ever been to. Also there were few activities for guests to participate in as no one actively promoted anything. If you want to experience island life do not go here as you could be anywhere. Finally, I found the staff in the restaurants, at reception very helpful and friendly and the two tours guides who drove us around the island were very informative. In fact everyone communicated very clearly in english.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Bintan Lagoon Resort, and we were severely disappointed with our stay. The staff is extremely illiterate, and can barely speak the English language. Management should already know that most of their guests come from Singapore, an English-speaking country. Anyways, we finally got to the suite, which looked NOTHING like the pictures on the website, and there were ants everywhere. We complained about it to some "assistant supervisor" [after he refused to get an actual manager] and he gave private transportation back to the ferry. Another problem with the suite is that the description about a jacuzzi over-looking the porch which faces the sea is quite misleading. First, the jacuzzi is a bath tub and nothing more. Second, the porch is in poor condition. Finally, the view of the sea is impossible to see, since the roof top from the previous floor protrudes up above our porch! Also, the suite next to us was under construction, and I caught a worker peeking into our bathroom while my girlfriend and I were taking a shower. The entire hotel is not air-con, and therefore, quite humid throughout the resort. The food is HORRIBLE as well. We went to three out of the only four restaurants on the resort, and all of them are over-priced and are of dog food quality. Every meal, for two people, was over 100SGD, and we didn't even order an appetizer or dessert. Another problem is that they charged for EVERYTHING. We walked to the amusement/arcade building, and wanted to play a couple minutes of table tennis, and they wanted to charge us to hit a small ball across the table. We paid 470SGD a night for our suite, so I think we deserved a little more bang for our buck. Not a crappy "suite" at a crappy "resort" with crappy "food." DO NOT STAY HERE. I say again, DO NOT STAY AT BINTAN LAGOON RESORT!

The rooms are all updated to give Balinese feel, and the aircon system is great. The food is still very expensive. And forget about the alcoholic drinks. Its way too expensive also.

If you want quiet and plan to stay at the resort only and don't have a lot of expectations for activities/independent travel outside of the resort, then it may be good for you. Agree that the resort is showing its age. Room had many stains on the area near the wetbar, and bathroom and woodwork are showing their age. Little details like the fit and finish, floor tiles in the bathrooms, loud plumbing, and very poor sound insulation between the rooms distracted from the overall niceness of the resort. The rooms that have the doorway connecting to the room next to yours allow a LOT of noise into your room if your neighbors aren't silent- listened to a group of Chinese speaking ladies talking and laughing until maybe 3 Am. Terrible...Prices are very very high and don't include the 20% extra. AVOID the only shopping option nearby- Pasir Ole Ole "shopping village" So felt like a "tourist trap"-just a series of huts filled with overpriced t-shirts/etc. and lots of staff too eager to sell you a spa package, etc. Not worth the ridiculous $6 per person bus fare to go there- only a couple KMs from the resort. Taxi service is a monopoly (and priced high) and staff are reluctant to offer an alternative means of traveling around the island. Plus sides: the food and drinks at the resort was very good (if you're willing to pay for it- about $50 US per couple for lunch buffet, S$6 for a can of beer, S$11-15 for a mixed drink), the beach was nice enough, staff were friendly, beds and towels good,...a nice place to relax. Need to work on the noise between the rooms, update the rooms, offer more reasonably priced eating options (a mini-mart offering more selections would be nice). Location good if you want to be away from everything- bad if you want shopping or outside of the resort activities. If you get a good price-worth a try.

When we arrived, the front desk staff greeted us and helped to check us into a room. They also brought some cold water to drink while we were being checked in, which I thought was very nice. We got dinner from room service once we were comfortably in the room. The food was good, though expensive. The pool had a wet bar, which was really nice too. The only thing that I didn't like was the dead bugs on the floor (not in the bedroom). They weren't all over the place but I don't like bugs so when I saw one, I would freak. Otherwise, I would most definitely go there again. Beautiful place!!

Bintan Lagoon Resort is located near a very clean, appealing beach. The resort is well-maintained, clean, with a large garden which allow visitors to spend a lot of time outdoors. Moreover, the staff is very helpful and friendly. The resort is definitely reccomendable for anyone wishing for a short excursion.

A very self-contained and self-sufficient resort; though somewhat 'detached' from the rest of the island due to its secluded location. Room was very clean, but pillows (not covers) had smell - could do with some sunning. Had a good mixed of restaurants within the resort - Jap, mediterranean, western, seafood etc. although these are expensive restaurants. Had only one miserable 'grocery' shop in the resort with exorbitant prices. With only two shuttle bus trips to the pasar oleh oleh, you are practically stuck at the resort, unless you are willing to fork out money to sign up for trips out of the resort. Sound proofing was bad. Had a family with kids staying above us, and whenever the kids jumped or stamped on the floor or the wooden enclave inside the room, the noise came thumping down on us. Won't mind going back again for reprise from urban living, with extra money to spare for a little pampering. But for retreat with more "roaming space", would choose the other resorts.

They make it compulsory to use the Hotel taxis, which is quite expensive, if you require a ride to places around Bintan (e.g. Kelong, Pasar Oleh Oleh).
