Date of Stay: July, 2009

We were there 3 days and each night we had a different room. The first room was so hot, we were brought a FAN to cool us off! The next room smelled of mildew and our linens were damp and moldy to the touch. Our third room was soooo hot that we had TWO fans put in! I was not compensated for the trouble and I was supposed to receive a call back and I'm still waiting on an apology. I paid almost $700 for 3 days and this is what I got. I thought you got what you paid for? Not in my case. I should have stayed in a Super 8! BTW, while I was checking out I noticed that EVERYONE had an issue.

Excellent location to French Quarter and Casino. Conceriege was too engaged with cellphone. Location is best. Walking distance to Quarter, casino, shopping. We are low-maintenance customers who spend all our time outside and walking. The continental breakfast seemed short on supplies and food. Lady working the area just wanted to stand and pour you coffee from decanter. (She could spend her time better stocking food!) Also, on morning of our departure we had a plane to catch and the breakfast area did not open for another 15-minutes coffee was made. However, the lady would not even pour a single cup. To get 5-star rating from me go the extra mile when it comes to customer service! Overall, great stay...they just need to work on some areas.

Service 5/5 The staff was friendly and very helpful. I booked though a online travel website and had no problems with check-in. Cleanliness 5/5 I've stayed at some dank hotels in the past (thanks for nothing AAA!). Bienville House was clean, and not just in the lobby. Rooms were well kept and clean, including the bathroom. Location 5/5 Wow, could not have a better location! Right on Decatur Street, you are mere blocks away from St. Louis Cathedral, Jackson Square, the French Market, The Aquarium, etc, etc... Dining 4/5 A complimentary continental-style breakfast is offered. As far as free hotel breakfasts go, I've had better and worse. Basic pastries, cereals, and bagels. Value 4/5 The price for the room was very reasonable. We got a balcony room overlooking Decatur Street for only a little extra cost. The only negative here is the parking, which costs you $20/day for a car and $25/day for SUV or truck. This adds up to a lot! Unfortunately, it's easier to find the Holy Grail than it is to find parking otherwise, so you're stuck with it. Ambiance 5/5 This is an extra category that I like to add. Places like Holiday Inn and the Hampton Inn (while often a good value) simply do not have that local feel. The Bienville House Hotel was built back in the 1800's and still has that "New Orleans Feel." Overall 5/5 Stay here!

We come to New Orleans at least twice a year. We usually stay at the Royal St. Charles Hotel which is a great place to stay but has no pool. Therefore, we decided to try this place because it looked nice and had a pool. Overall the Hotel was pretty nice. The only problems we had were getting towels for the pool. We would ask for them before we even got in. After about an hour of swimming, still no towels. Everything was dusty in the room and the maid usually didnt clean our room til almost five o'clock in the afternoon! By this time we are headed back to take showers before dinner and would have to wait so we could have clean towels. Very inconvenient. Other than these few cases, the Hotel was okay. We will probably stick to our other Hotel from now on though.

This was a very nice low priced hotel. The staff was helpfull and considerate. The room was clean and comfortable. They had a very good continental breakfast. The location was great. It didn't look like they had a lot of room for parking. We didn't have a car so we did not care about parking. If you will have a car, you might want to call them to see what the parking options are. We were quite pleased overall.

We spent a week at the Bienville House Hotel and loved it! Our room was lovely, it even had a ceiling fan, which we very much appreciated in the heat. Requests for extra pillows and a cot were handled quickly and the rooms were kept very clean. I loved the soft bed, my husband did not. I would have preferred a queen bed over a double though. The hotel has not had a dining room since Katrina, so that info on the site is incorrect. The pool is lovely, but small, still, my kids loved it. The location is GREAT. We walked everywhere. Lots of wonderful places to eat nearby and just several minutes walk from beautiful Jackson Square. There is some street noise at night, but I think that's to be expected in a city like New Orleans.

We drove there, but did not need to use our car the whole 4 days we were there. We walked to everything except for one day when we bought a streetcar pass and went to the WW2& art museum Later that evening, we rode the St. Charles streetcar all the way to the end and back (beautiful mansions with the lights reflecting off the leaded glass doors). Be sure to see the Mardi Gras exhibit at the Presbytere on Jackson Square. I thought the aquarium was not that great, but I am from Florida so am used to Sea World, etc.. Also, it did not help that every preschool, summer camp class was there at the same time and very crowded! We enjoyed walking around the French Quarter, but Bourbon St. is a little tacky and the Hurricanes at Pat O's are really overrated (tasted like watered down Hawaiian Punch). We did not have a bad meal the whole time we were there and tried to stay away from the expensive places. Recommend the Acme Oyster House, the Gumbo Shop, Masperos, Cafe Du Monde, pralines from anywhere, and SnoBalls from the little stand in front of the Riverwalk shopping.

This hotel is in a good location in the French Quarter and is nicely decorated. In the deluxe rooms next to the street, you can hear the street noise all night long until early morning. Also, our room had a loud rattling inside the wall that would have keep us up all night long, without ear plugs. Offsite valet parking is available for $20 a day (24 hours), but plan on it taking about 1 hour to get your car after you request it (can wait in room and they will call you).

I attended a business meeting and stayed for 3 nights on the 4th floor. Found it very quaint that I walked outside to a patio type area to gain access to my room (walkway was covered so I didn't get rained on)--it was like having a nice little outdoor courtyard outside my door (I didn't have a balcony room.) Room was large & very clean, beds were comfortable. Nice bath products provided. Wasn't very close to ice maker & was disappointed with closet space as the safe was in there & left little room for haning pants. Bathrobes were provides & were very comfortable. Another attendee at my meeting stayed in the suite so I got to see it & was very impressed--very large & comfortable--had own ice machine in room & huge private balcony. Hotel provided nice continental breakfast. Only had one elevator & it was a little slow & small, but only 4 floors so you didn't have to wait too long. Location was great--easy walking access to all of French Quarter. Sometimes heard train passing nearby during the middle of the night. Meetings took place at sister property, Hotel Monteleon, which was very nice as well. All-in-all a nice stay at a quaint little place--would definately come back again.

Great location..friendly staff..clean rooms..breakfast included...only trade off is if you get front street balcony for all friends' "wine" time, it can get noisy overnight on weekends.All other rooms are very quiet! But loved the front balcony too. This is the place we will always stay and so far all our friends agree.

The hotel in general and the room specifically were very nice looking. The room was small but that is to be expected in a building this old. The 15 foot ceilings and the large four poster bed were great. Room was clean as was the rest of the hotel. The House of Blues was less than 300 feet away so great place to stay for a concert. Jackson Square and Cafe de Monde about 5-10 minute walk. Make sure you use valet parking. They only have 6 very small parking spaces and you will get blocked in. Large bathroom, in room safe, small closet with light that comes on when door is opened, nice touch. No in room fridge but we only stayed for one night so not really a problem. No late checkout which would have been nice after closing down Bourbon Street. Overall a very positive experience.

The Bienville House is the quintessential New Orleans hotel. My understanding is that it was recently refurbished and the room I stayed in was in perfect condition. This hotel has less than 100 rooms and sits quietly 3 short blocks away from Bourbon Street. The staff was courteous and let me check in early. The hotel has the charm of a small, European hotel. Fortunately, the charm was complemented by great Air Conditioning, linens and cleanliness. This is the sister property to the Hotel Monteleone and has great service and toiletries. On the downside, I am glad there were no fires in New Orleans as the hotel sits right across from a cool, old fire station. I will also warn you that the elevator is slow but it did give me a chance to say hello to some of the guests, many who were from France. This hotel was great and I will be back!

Charged double for parking something like$23 plus taxes that amounted to 25 dollars,paid over $60 for parking. Do not appreciate being charged twice for the rooms. You charged my credit card $172 + dollars for 2 nights which showed up on my bill within 2-3 days of using you and then the hotel charged my daughter's friend credit card the same amount, the $60 something for parking.

Accommodations were excellent -- clean and in good repair. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable. Our room had a view of the Mississippi. Continental breakfast was a plus. Very classy place and the staff were great considering we were there the week that Gustav was barreling down on Louisiana. We would definitely stay again.

I was in town for a Business Meeting and I really enjoyed this property. It had a historic feel to it. Rooms were really nice, staff was friendly, and was really close to Bourbon Street (where all of my dreams came true). I would recommend this property to anyone coming to New Orleans.
