The balcony overlooking the river was wonderful and we enjoyed the river walk and the sounds of the river. The room was a little smaller than I had expected and the furnishings and decor were somewhat outdated. Best Western Twin Islands is located near the river with a balcony overlooking the river. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the sound of the river that ran right outside our room. We had a great time walking on the river walk around the hotel and looking at the ducks. We found the room comfortable and clean and we felt safe. We had a great time. Thanks.

Stayed at the Best Western Twin Islands Friday and Saturday nights Oct 17-18, 2008 and did NOT get a good night sleep either night. First night we just chalked it up to a noisy neighbor but the next night - at 1:00 AM the person in the room above decided to take a jacuzzi bath - for 20 minutes we heard the water fill the tub and then for another 30 minutes it was like a jet boat right above our ceiling. Then at 2:30 AM the Gatlinburg City Crew cleaned the streets. First a guy with a leaf blower came down the street then 10 mimutes later came the vacuum truck. At 3:45 the trash truck came to empty the trash bin for the Mexican restaurant next door... Oh by the way - if you stay there make sure you get up early and get your shower before everyone else gets up or you'll be getting hot (actually just warm) and cold flashes as people flush their toilets... Our toilet wasn't bolted to the floor and rocked like a rocking chair when we first checked in. At least they fixed it as soon as we notified the front desk. The Heater/AC in the room makes a major noise as it goes on and off all night.....

Had a very nice vacation, loved the room. We really used the hot tub! The ice maker didn't work very well, but hey, it was getting over used, know what I mean! The room was very nice. We only had 6 small,8 medium, 6 large towels! Man, we would have been in trouble if we would have needed sears whole stock. But really, we enjoyed the whole stay. Please remember, you can not please all the people all the time! Thank you to all the staff.

We stayed here Sept 9-12, 2008. We booked the good buy for the king bed, non smoking, whirlpool, and fireplace and expecting this when we got into our room the only thing it had was the king bed! The clerks did not know anything about it even after presenting them our room arrangements booked in advance. We also thought they would provide breakfast but instead gave us a coupon to eat across the street-where we were also treated the same way as the hotel staff. The only good qualities about the place was it did have a balcony on a creek but so did alot of other places.

It was in pretty convenient area. Missing outlet covers, uncomfortable. I felt bruised from sleeping on the rock hard beds. The bathrooms were not very clean and the outlet covers were missing on several outlets and light switches. Lots of construction in the common areas which made it unsafe for the kids. I'm grateful the trip was to spend time at the area attractions, because we were miserable in the room.

My family first stayed at this hotel when I was a young girl...so I know it is an old hotel, but overall the upkeep is good...things a bit dated, but clean and comfortable. The only complaint I have, is that I requested a NON-smoking room, and when we entered the room, it reeked of smoke, it was not a non-smoking room...so make sure you reiterate your request at check-in. It is convenient to all sites in Gatlinburg.

The river view. It was way too small and smelled funny. This hotel was too small. You could barely move around in it. It also had a very "stuffy" smell. Also, when we got in the room we noticed we only had one bath towel. I called housekeeping to get more and they said they would be right down. That was at 5PM. At 9 PM after dinner I called back because we still had not received any towels. We received them about 30 minutes later. We would not stay here again.

I expected an attractive room with a whirlpool bath and a fireplace. The whirlpool was public and actually in the pool area! The fireplace was in the lobby-I think, since I never actually saw it! There were some old chairs on a patio/porch accessible to anyone - overlooking a somewhat unattractive stream. I always expect more from a 3 star rating. In all honesty, I generally avoid Best Western as I am usually disappointed with the quality of their motels. However, they advertised a whirlpool and a fireplace, so I assumed that this one had to be good. I think this time, I've learned my lesson.

Close to downtown and the river gave a nice relax feel. Overall it was clean - has some spots on the ceiling and the maids were kind of loud in the mornings.

Likes: Liked the location of this motel. It was closer to the West side of Gatlinburg but within walking distance to practically everything you would care to see. Recommend Hose's next door for pretty good salsa and fajitas. The 15% off coupon for breakfast is well worth using as the restaurant was just across the street and the cook really knew how to prepare scrambled eggs, which is a rarity. The pool was great too. Warmed just right and clean. Parking was ample and everything was clean. Dislikes: Room was small and dated, from furniture to wallpaper. Window air conditioner was a little noisy and dominated the room but it worked. Balcony furniture was lacking and in disrepair but the view of the river was great. The room really needed to be stripped and updated. The maids never seem to vacuum behind or under anything. Electrical outlets needed repair and were lacking also. I could not get a decent Wifi signal and their were no ethernet ports. I was able to pick up their companion motel across the street and it worked well enough to check email. Overall I liked this motel and would stay here again but it needs improvement.

This hotel is very close to attractions and the trolley system. The creek view was marred by the buildings directly across from the hotel. If you want a hotel that is close to attractions and the trolley, and you don't mind staying in a clean, yet older hotel, then this is a good one for you.

The room balcony was directly on the waterside which was very nice. The best feature of all, however, was the bed. It was absolutely wonderful. In fact, we are looking to see if we can purchase that exact brand on model. The location was very nice. Would definately stay here again.

The toilet in the bath room was very cramped and not securely fastened down. It was very difficult to reach the toilet paper dispenser. The shower head water flow was severly restricted. I liked the motel right next to where we stayed this time better and will probably return there if I return again.

"This is an awesome hotel for honeymooners! They upgraded us to a jacuzzi suite, gave us a camplimentary bottle of champagne and flutes for our honeymoon!! The staff is so helpful and gracious!! We could not have been happier!!!"

"Great location. Didn't honor coupon from the coupon book though. Beware of that. Room was nice, clean and most everything worked. Flat screen TV was nice. Can't complain about anything except the coupon thing."

"This hotel is a great place to stay. It is in a great location, the staff is wonderful, and the place is clean although a bit dated. Overall, we may have found our favorite place to stay while in Gatlinburg."

my husband and i was on our honeymoon. I pick a room that we were told to be a view of the creek. we overall liked where the hotel was located because it was walking distance from everything. The room was dark and felt like you where in a cave. I am however going to go back in september of 2007 only because of the location. Besides we where always gone. We only came back to go to sleep.

Our room was horrible! The carpet was so dirty it stained our sock beyond cleaning. The bed spread also stained our light colored clothing. The beds were hard and sagging. (back ache!!) Staples were coming out of the box springs. Our room(460) was a 2 dbl bed room. It was very small with a tiny bathroom. The wardrobe for hanging clothes made our clothes smell musty. Location was okay...next to hardrock and aquarium. I will not stay here again. The creek out was back was the only nice thing about this place.

"This was my worst stay ever at a Best Western. I always stay at Best Westerns because they have a reputation for being very nice. The key to my room idin't even work. The room was dark and dank and decorated with the ugliest ducks I've ever seen. The ""balconies"" are really just a big porch that is connected, and eveerywhere you look is duck ""excrement"". I will never be back. I'm turned against Best Westerns."
