Location is great. Hot water took too long, wasteful. Was not very green - no way to stop the bedding from being washed. Good basic hotel in an incredible location. The room we stayed in took about 10 gallons of water (waste) to get hot enough for shower. No way to tell housekeeping to not clean the bedding. Reading lights, by bed, were barely bright enough to read by.

I just returned from three days in Carmel for our wedding anniversary. The hotel has an excellent location, literally 50 feet from the main street where restaurants and shopping abound. We had no problem finding and dining at several local places; a different one for each meal every day! Parking is on-site which saved us from having to struggle with street parking when we did choose to take a drive to nearby Monterey. Rooms are very nice, modern furniture and bedding, a BIG closet and.... a room safe that is easy to operate and doesn't have any extra fee to use. We were very happy to be able to leave our extra cash, credit cards, etc. locked up while we were out. The shower in our room had lots of pressure and the shower stahl was very roomy. We also had a hair dryer, refrigerator, coffee maker, iron and ironing board. If you're a light eater, the continental breakfast will serve you. It was a bit thin though muffins cut into quarters, dry cereal, and minimal fruit. Coffee, tea and juice are available. The front office staff was courteous, but average. I didn't experience the 'wonderfully helpful' staff that others mentioned. Overall, very good value (we got a AAA discount and stayed on weekdays). We were pleasantly surprise!!

Close to shops and dining. Clean room, friendly staff, reasonable rate, close to shops and dining in the heart of Carmel By The Sea. We walked everywhere and did not have to worry about finding parking in the busy downtown area.

We stayed two nights in Sept 2008. Our ground-floor room had been very recently remodeled and was stylish and very clean. The location of this hotel can't be beat; the street itself is quiet yet only a two-block walk to Ocean & San Carlos in the heart of Carmel's downtown. The staff was helpful and offered excellent restaurant recommendations. Two enthusiastic thumbs up from these two guests!

The helpful gentleman at the front desk. Not very soundproof. Garbage truck noise in a.m. Excellent location in downtown Carmel.

The staff was friendly, the room was clean, and the hotel is in a good location, within walking distance of shopping and dining. But the room was old and small, and in need of an update. It would have been fine if the price was lower, but I was disappointed in the value of what I got for what I paid. If you just want a place to lay your head at night, this is a good spot. But if you are looking for a comfortable enjoyable room, look someplace else.

Great location. 2 nights minimum. Attendant spoke very poor English, lack of ambiance, cheap quality linens/towels. This motel was in great location. However, it totally lacked any ambiance outside, or inside. Very cheap quality linens/towels. The continental breakfast was not appealing either in content, nor presentation. No newspaper in lobby; door to office not opened until 8:00 a.m. Although I appreciated procuring the reservation at the last moment, it was a major disappointment.

"Checking in and out was a charm thanks to the superfriendly and efficient Staff, the hotel and the room were extremely well maintained and very clean altough the interior design was definetively a bit outdated. Ample parking space, and yet walking distance to Carmel by the sea ... a sun deck (breakfast) and flawless internet connectivity On a (mind you this is california) budget with high expectations ... then this is a great deal, would stay here again in a heartbeat ..."

Location was excellent. None. It fulfilled all our needs. Our room was located on the second floor; there were no elevators which is typical. I am somewhat handicapped with post polio condition and recently had knee surgery on the non-polio leg. Furthermore, I am 73 years old. It was somewhat difficult to transport the luggage up/down the stairs. The motel location was ideal for those who desired to roam the galleries of Carmel. We generally enjoyed the facilities.

My family and I were coming to Carmel for the first time and very pleased when we got to the Best Western. We were greeted by a very freindly gentlemen at the front desk who gave us excellent reccommendations for the area dining. The location was great because we left the car in lot and walked everywhere. The rooms were clean comfortable and spacious. They had a modest breakfast and unlike some of the other hotels we passed with no parking they had ample space. We definitley come back.

Good location. Bad parking. Good hotel, although I would not want to spend more than one night in it because of the lack of amenities.

The hotel staff was very freindly providing my family with excellent dining suggestions as well as activities for me and family. The location was great, we were able to walk to everything. My kid enjoyed their pool and they had a nice continental breakfast in the morning. I will be back and recommend this to my hotel to my freinds and family.
