There are amenities like wi-fi and a pool (closed now for season), public computer. Good new mattresses.Pretty grounds. But the non-smoking room reeked of smoke and had cigarette burns in the carpet and bathroom counter, and there was an ashtray. Roaches--3. Room not clean. Main problem was the smoke. My pillow, makeup bag, and clothes reek of it and have to be washed. I coughed all night, as I have asthma. The day clerk would not admit that it had been a smoking room (probably until the day before we rented it.)Breakfast was usual for that price range, boiled eggs only protein. No fan in bath. TV remote didn't work. Tub faucet dripped.

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Sweetgrass Inn! The location was great - only 10 minutes from downtown Charleston! Our room was spotless and comfortable. We really enjoyed the huge pool, especially after a day in the Charleston heat and humidity! The continental breakfast was terrific - freshly made waffles every morning! This was a real money saver for us! All in all, we will stay at the Sweetgrass Inn on our next vacation in Charleston!

Convenience to attractions. Little bit of mold in the bathroom.

This hotel is centrally located to the historic district and plantation area and a real bargain in comparison to the rates downtown. Knowledgeable front desk, clean rooms, comfy beds.

charged my card twice, caused overdrafts, will not rectify! Beware! Hardly a continental breakfast, closed it early, had very limited selection, tv in room did not work most of my trip.

My mother and I were visiting Charleston to attend Spoleto and go to the beach for a few days. We were expecting good things from this hotel since we had stayed here before. While the rooms had been updated and were very nice, there were still far more cons than pros to our stay. There was an issue with bugs (ants and a roach trying to use our shower). The staff seemed to have forgotten the rule of knocking and announcing your status with the hotel before entering. We had a maid come in without knocking or announcing herself after our room had been cleaned for the day. However, these could be forgiven except for an extremely upsetting encounter with the late-night desk staff. Before leaving on our trip we had called the hotel and asked to extend our stay by one night. We were told this was no problem and to remind the front desk when we checked in. I did this and was told yes we have you down, please sign here. Thinking we were good to go we continued with our vacation. However, according to the late-night staff, our credit card was not recorded. At 10pm on our last night, we began hearing pounding on a door (we had some loud neighbors and had met some very drunk individuals in the parking lot so thought it was next door). This occured 3 times and we proceeded to call the front desk. At the same time, I went to check our door and found it only latched by the chain. Slamming the door, I looked out the peephole to find a very large man standing on the other side. I yelled that this was not his room, got no response from him and when he left went to hear the front desk conversation. At this point, we were told about the credit card mistake. To make a very long story short, the front desk staff tried to cover their actions saying they had spoken to us and we were to have brought our credit card down and they had been calling our phone all night. This was not done in a professional manner but with a lot of hostile attitude, denying of any wrong doing or lack of commuicat

The maintenancestaff was really nice. Overall, the hotel was just dirty. The lobby appeared clean, but the room was not well taken care of.

We stayed only overnight. The employees were beyond helpful. From the front desk to the maid staff verrrry helpful and friendly. Room was very clean and the grounds were very well kept. The pool was large and clean. Front desk person helped with a good restaurant nearby even gave us discount coupons. Maid staff asked if we needed anything else. We were allowed to check in a little early with no problem. GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!

The hotel rooms seem to be in need of a deep cleaning and the bathroom is tiny. We noticed that many people seemed to be living there which is not a good sign.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room, the linen smelled of smoke despite the staff using an ion air cleaner. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Complimentary breakfast well kept and well stocked. Room smelled of stale smoke, including linen. My clothes, and suitcase smell of stale smoke the next day. Staff put ion air cleaner in room however it didn't help at all to rid the smell. Non smoking room was not available when requested at check in.

I usually stay at the Hampton Suites just down the 17, but decided to try this hotel for a change. The room was quiet and comfortable and the staff was very nice and helpful. The rates were wonderful for the CHS area, and it's only a short drive to downtown. The only downside was the run down neightborhood and proximity to KMart.Would love more healthy choices at breakfast

The Best Western Sweetgrass Inn was mostly comfortable for me and my wife. The room was clean, though we did find a stray partial bottle of water under the dresser (the light from the bed lamp reflected on it and caught my eye). The beds would have been comfortable for an average-sized person; I am tall and had to sleep caddy-corner in a different bed from my wife. The water in the shower was very warm, but fluctuated when one of the neighbors turned his on. We like the location a lot. It was minutes from downtown Charleston and very well-situated for all the sights we wanted to see while there.

Location was easy to find. Breakfast closed at 9. Not so friendly and looked poorly in comparison to the neighboring Sleep Inn.

I was looking for a local resturant and the evening desk clerk went to great effort to help me locate a resturant with good food and local flavor. I was very pleased. I wasa very pleased with the room size and cleanleness.

The staff. Smoking rooms. Overall my stay was great. I was given a smoking room at first. I waited to late in the evening to ask for a change but they called first thing in th am and gave me a new room that was much better.
