Date of Stay: July, 2007

Although one can predict with some level of certainty what he or she will be encountering based on value and neighborhood, there are some areas within the hotel business that should not be open to compromise. My room was not ready until 4:00. Although the front desk checked me in,and gave me a key, the bed was stripped and the room was not ready for occupancy. I changed into a bathing suit, went to the pool and asked the maid if she could ready the room within an hour. She obliged. The light over the bathroom mirror took fifteen minutes to light up. This made for a difficult situation as the purpose of my visit was to attend a formal affair. I needed to do my hair and make-up and the only light that was predictable was the light over the shower stall. The shower stall had a shampoo dispenser that was empty and no shampoo was provided. The continental breakfast was average. The bananas were very green and the bagels were stale. The breakfast are was not cleaned well and there were multiple spills. As stated above, these are areas that should not be open to compromise. I feel this is an aging motel that is on the way downhill.

The bed was comfortable and the lighting nice for the size of the room. The bathroom space was almost too small for one person. I stayed for two nights and when I got there around 1pm, the staff told me that my room wouldn't be available until 3 and to come back at that time, then told me to see if I could try back at 2. I came back at 2:30 to be on the safe side and my room was ready. It was a very spacious size room for a single person, but the bathroom wasn't as big as I am used to, with the toilet almost under the sink and shower having no light coming into it. The maids did a very good job at keeping the room clean, but even though there were signs saying that I should leave towels on the floor if they needed to be cleaned and put them on the rack if I didn't want them cleaned, the maids took every towel I touched and replaced them. Overall, it was a very nice place that I wouldn't mind staying at again.

Stayed for two nights. On check in, were told no smoking in the room on penalty of $300.00 cleaning fee. So of course, we were scrupulously careful NOT to smoke in the room. However, on check out, the desk claimed we had been smoking in the room, probably based on empty packs in the wastebasket (I suppose we could have just thrown them on the ground outside the room where all smoking had been done). Front desk had head maid go to the room, who claimed he "smelled something". After much ado, we were not charged, but the attitude of "guilty until proven innocent" did not leave a good taste in the mouth. Not a good way to treat customers. Plus the soft drinks from the vending machine cost $2.00 apiece, and more than one customer was observed arguing at the front desk about not getting a refund for a night they could not stay after a change in plans. So watch out - not clear that these people think that the customer deserves fair treatment.

The building is older-the floorboards squeak and felt weak, but the beds were very comfortable. Parking is VERY limited, and for smaller compacts only. High profile vehicles will scrap their tops.

Nothing. Trashy andrude staff. It was very dirty. Roaches were everywhere. Staff was rude and nasty. Breakfast was poor.

Staff was wonderful, rooms were neat and clean, and breakfast offered was awesome. Rooms were very small and difficult to maneuver more than one at a time. Great location, clean and although the rooms were small, they were comfortable. The staff was awesome and the continental breakfast was a treat.

Location was great for what I wanted to do. Parking was somewhat difficult. Hotel was clean, quite and in a great location: central to the airport, beach, Hollywood and shopping.

Free breakfast. Kind of an odd looking hotel; looks like converted apts. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and quiet. Complex was kind of weird in that it consisted of 3 two-story buildings that looked like they were converted from apts.

Location only. Noisy. Fighting in other rooms, Suitcases being pulled down the stairs. Every night sleep interrupted. Too noisy. Fighting in other rooms. Our room was under the staircase. Suitcases slamming. Noisy. Sleepless.

Very convenient to the airport. The parking is both inadequate and terribly inconvenient. The room was very nice with all of the expected conveniences. The bed was made with two pillows and it was necessary to ask for two additional pillows. The parking in the rear of two of the buildings is difficult to park in and difficult to get out of. The parking in the rear and under the other buildings is even more difficult to get into and much more difficult to get out of. The way in and out is a long, very narrow and steep driveway. The second night I had to back out of this driveway and it was not at all easy. When I reached the end of the driveway at the street a group of teenagers from the apartments next door were heckling me which added to my discomfort. It was necessary to park on the street and I parked on the street every night after that.

Near where I worked. Difficult to turn into as it was located on a busy street and making a left into the hotel was extremely difficult. Parking situation was poor. There's limited parking spots and it was more convenient to park in the street. Impressed with the big bath tub. The stay was overall, ok as it's located on a busy street. Staff was friendly.

Simple, convenient and neighbors businesses. Great local bus system (Culver City 6, Santa Monica, Big Blue Bus, MTA, MTA BRT). Very little parking available. Hotel was difficult to locate as it was in a mixed residential business area by freeways. My room smelled like cigarettes. The room was small compared to others I stayed in. The showers are small and it had an apartment feel to it. Rooms have paper thin walls and floors creak. However, it is close to many amenities and the cheap efficient local mass transit makes it really easy to get around.

Clean, quiet, comfortable. Parking was a bit of a pain, really tight. Hotel was not far from the freeway, close to shops in the area, room was very clean and comfortable, bathroom was nice as well, and parking was the only thing I thought was a bit annoying being that the spaces were kind of tight. But over all I would totally stay there again if I had to. Had a great time!

The hotel accommodations are great, in a quiet, clean residential area. I liked everything about this hotel. Best Western Royal Palace Inn and Suites is one of the best moderately rated hotels I've ever stayed in. It easily deserves 3 stars for comfort, cleanliness, and helpful staff. The continental breakfast was efficient, and the other guest there seemed satisfied. Overall, it's a very decent hotel for one person, a business traveler, a couple, or a family. I would definitely stay there again!
