Stayed at this hotel on vacation in Toronto--I have stayed there before and the best thing I can say about it is what is consistently good is good and what is consistently poor is poor. The good: good location, friendly staff, decent price The bad: rooms need maintenance (i.e., paint peeling from walls), noise from hallway to room, nightmarishly slow elevators even at non-peak times
Date of Stay:
June, 2009
The hotel needs maintenance, and more clean in the rooms.

Location, price, cleanliness was decent. Only one receptionist not always there. Stains on the room tables, view was nothing (roof top). Agood hotel. Make sure not to be on the 3rd floor. Its where u get the entrance roof top. and u only see the flag poles!

Fine hotel relatively close to uptown. Needs refreshing here and there but all in all it gets a positive judgement. The parking is a real no-go. It costs 32 CAD per day but you can barely enter it if your car is slightly larger than a Japanese economy car. Round the corner on Church street you can park a whole day for 15 CAD instead. And no breakfast is included:a real disappointment

I always have monthly business trips to Toronto and I have stayed at this hotel more than a few times. The location is decent.... its about three blocks to a main subway station and there is a streetcar stop just outside so if you time it perfectly you are always on the go. The Beds are amazing.... everything about them is great. The rooms are clean and the decor' is somewhat up to date. The elevators are always sketchy...... but all of them are being revamped so this issue should fade fast. Now to explain two things.... this originally was a hotel under a different name so you can see some of the old hotels earmarks especially in the bathrooms. They are clean and usable.... just not very up to date. Also half of the hotel is actually rented out to the nearby University students, but its really hard to notice this. They are not allowed to use the main elevators etc.... the only way I knew about this was I went to get Ice on the 8th floor and when I got there the hallways looked more like a College dorm(aka graffiti, garbage, ect.) and eventually asked one of the girls living on that floor. If it wasn't for the Ice trip I would have never known....... so Its not a big issue. Its a perfect hotel if you plan on spending alot of time outside of it.... and for the price the location is perfect..... but I will say the beds are AMAZING!

My wife and I really love the Primrose Hotel. After 10 years of marrige and three kids we both have busy schedules and can't always find time to getaway but when we do the Primrose is always our choice in Toronto. There are newer hotels in Toronto that have more services available, things like a spas, room service, and valet parking but what we really like about the Primrose is the consistincey in service. For example we always stay in the same room we never have to ask for it. We always order a certain bottle of wine, its always waiting for us in the room when we arrive. We always eat at the same restaraunt, we never have to make a reservation, its made for us. Its the little things that count most when time with a loved one is so limited. Try this hotel you wont be disapointed.

I like best western in general. Their rooms are always huge and comfy. This one was no different. They had 3 working elevators that were fast but with 23 floors to cover they need more elevators. The breakfast was nice. On the last day we saw a roach in the bathroom which is odd because the place is very clean but I think they have to spray the hotel down. They have free internet. So $100 per night I get a nice room in the heart of the Italian part of downtown Toronto, free internet, free breakfast....I think that's a sweet deal.

There are other hotels nearby that have a better location and are probably priced similarly to this one. This hotel should be a two star hotel. The staff was not great and the eleveators were horrible!

Everything about the hotel was excellent, The staff, the decor, the finish, the location. They answered an e-mail enquiry promptly and provided a high level of service. When we encountered noisy the hotel responded within 3 minutes. The room was large and one of the best decorated, clean and well kept that I?ve been in.

The hotel was inexpensive. The location is Toronto Downtown and convenient. I slept well in the nice bed settings.

Duvets on the beds. Staff at the front desk were veryrude to me my entire stay. It was OK. The staff at the front desk was very rude to me. Eventually the manager was called (at my request) and he was very nice and took care of everything I needed. Parking was a little expensive at $28.00/day and the underground parking is very small and difficult to maneuver your vehicle through.

We stayed during the NXNE festival as our son was playing at one of the venues. I booked based on price and location, but then read some terrible reviews so I was nervous about what I would find. We arrived about 3 hrs before the listed check-in and the front desk clerk was very accomodating and actually found us a room that had just been cleaned. The room was terrific. Nice and clean, with big white duvets on the very comfortable beds. Furniture and carpets were newer and clean (couple of spots on chairs but hey...). Bathroom was very clean, as were the fridge and kitchenette area. Location was fantastic as we had to hit a number of clubs throughout the downtown area. Checkout was smooth, and they even let us stay in the parking garage into the evening on the day of checkout (parking is 23/day). Passed a couple of hookers on the way back to the hotel at 2:00am, but they didn't bother us. Note: I had to go to another floor for ice, and did notice that it didn't smell to great, or look as clean/renovated. So make sure you request a "RECENTLY RENOVATED ROOM" - which I did. Also, the elevators were a bit wonky, but we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for one. All in all - great value for the money. Not the Ritz, but you wouldn't be looking here if you were willing to pay those prices!!!!

The rooms need a bit of work. It doesn't help that the location of the hotel is close to a lot of prositution and queer club nightlife. If you don't mind the noise and party people, this location is managable. It wasn't that clean, but liveable. The elevators are slow and you need to take them, not the stairs, no matter what floor your room is on.

Location. No bar or restaurant. The room was great - king size bed, nice view from 17th floor - bathroom clean and stocked - comfortable – staff was friendly helpful and professional - great experience.

Just wanted to say thank you to the Staff of the Best Western Primrose Hotel for making a romantic weekend away for me and my fiance so special. The rooms were clean, location avgerage but the staff were very friendly and helpful. My fiance and I barely have time to see eachother anymore so it was nice to be so well looked after and not have to worry about all the little things that some hotels can't get right. Yes the chocolate covered strawberries and champaign arrived on time!!!! The weekend got better from there!! Maria P.S> I found the 23.00 parking rate to be high we thought we were in New York!

There is nothing special about this Hotel but the staff are friendly the rooms are clean and the Internet connection works like I'm at home. I'm a small business owner from Boston who comes into town 2 -3 times per month to meet with Canadian distributors. The Primrsoe always makes me feel welcome.

We have never been to Toronto before. We went up for a mid-week getaway from Chicago. The hotel is very, very nice. The room was very clean and w/a kitchenette/jr. suite!! The bathrooms are dated, but clean, so don't plan on spending too much time in there. The restaurant in the hotel is ok, but they only served breakfast. If you want to eat near the hotel, there is a little diner almost directly next door to the hotel. You will know it, as you must step downstairs to enter. Do not go to the 24 hour "corral type diner." We ate there one time and the food was terrible--however, great coffee! The donut shop (TIM HORTON'S) in the hotel is great. Terrific coffee, but make sure you have Canadian dollars a/o MASTERCARD. The staff at the hotel could not be nicer. The parking is pricey, $23/day and if you have a big car a/o SUV--good luck, as it is a verrrrrrry tight squeeze to get in and out of the parking garage under the hotel. It was nice, however--as we were protected from the rain that fell every day while we were there. Toronto has a lot of great restaurants--one that we recommend (we ate there 2 nights in a row) is ROMA--the lasagna and cheese ravioli were DELICIOUS!!
