went to visit family-hotel was very adequate
Date of Stay:
April, 2009
We had an excellent-value three days at the GPH in April 2009. The staff were friendly and efficient, the breakfast was good and hot and the room was better than we expected for the price we paid. The only tiny criticism would be that the evening that we had dinner at the hotel, it was quite expensive for what it was, so we'd probably eat elsewhere in the evening, another time. Location was about 2 miles out of Glasgow centre, maybe 45 minutes gentle walk. We would thoroughly recommend the hotel overall.

Friendly service. Good breakfast with plenty of choice.

Rooms great size even for triple rooms, more choice of tv channels which keep everyone happy. we had breakfast included in the price and found lots of choice both traditional scottish and continental, Staff always very helpful and friendly and nothing to much hassle for them. Love the fact its free parking and its close to lots of amenitys and 5 mins each direction to lots of different food outlets if you didnt want to eat at the hotel.

Very comfortable hotel, spotlessly clean and friendly staff. Despite being next to the Great Western Road, there was very little traffic noise to disturb a good nights sleep.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Glasgow Pond Hotel, the room was clean and the beds very comfortable. Although the hotel was busy there was no noise disturbance at all. There were extra pillows in the room. The temperature was just right which is unusual in hotels as they tend to be overheated. Breakfast was well prepared and plentiful. I would highly recommend this hotel.

For a 3 star hotel the service, room and breakfast was more than adequate. In addition it's well placed for trains in to the centre of glasgow, from Hyndland Station. I would certainly go there again for that price.

Can be very noisy when functions held downstairs. Very friendly & helpful staff though, a credit to the hotel.

We checked in late but were dealt with very efficiently. The staff were v.pleasant the room good. We had room service as we had not eaten before the concert in Edinburgh sandwiches and drink delivered a tad slowly but excellent when they arrived. Plus point was easy car parking outside the hotel which was the reason I selected this hotel. Easy run into town. Very satisfied and would go again.

The hotel would be mainly for short stay only. THe receptionist, an Asian lady, was very helpful and joined in with the banter. She also acknowledged us every time we entered or left the hotel during her shift. The service in the restaurant was average. Depending on which staff were on depended on whether the breakfast buffet was topped up or not. I was surprised they ran out of croissants and maramlade by Thursday! A pot of tea on the table would have been nice too instead of water from the geyser.

Situated on west side of city. Very convenient for bus or train to city centre (10mins) or to other towns. Reasonably priced for Glasgow hotel. Near to well known Byres Road for good eats and shops.

Nice hotel, good staff, it's a bit further out from the city centre than I'd expected though, good value.

Have stayed in The Pond twice now whilst visiting my girlfriend and have found it to be exceptional both times. The rooms are very tidy and the decor is nice and modern. The staff are all extremely friendly on both reception and in the restaurant. I've not had dinner there but can't speak highly enough of the breakfast. The location is also good in that the city centre is only a 5-10min taxi ride away. If I was to give one minor criticism it would be that the shower curtains could be better. They're the type that seem to attack and stick to you the second you hop in for a quick wash!! Overall though, no complaints at all and I would recommend this hotel to anybody who is looking for something a little bit more than the average hotel.

Reception staff excellent. Restaurant service very poor. Only 7 people in restaurant but still took 45mins rfrom placing order to receiving food. Also poor value for money but bar food better value.

we stay at this hotel frequently as it is very handy for our children who stay in the west end of glasgow. we find it is a good hotel to stay at as the staff are all very friendly and the breakfasts are out of this world. you can eat as much as you want and it is a relaxing experience. the rooms are more than adequate for a night or two . my only minus point is that although the showers are powerful, the awful nylon shower curtains are a nightmare. on the plus side , if like me ,. you are a smoker , if you book in early , you usually manage to get a smoking room!!! i would recomend this hotel is you want something reasonably priced in the west end of glasgow.
