Overall tropical atmosphere. Somewhat old and outdated. Overall, a pleasant place to stay. Limited amenities, but I didn't expect that much for the price. Overall tropical atmosphere was pleasant.

This hotel was built in 1901 but the rooms were recently remodelled with new bathrooms, carpet, beds, and paint. If you want fancy luxury hotels with all the amenities, got up the coast to Ka'anapali where you'll get beaches, water slides, $50 meals, fitness rooms and concierges to help you book your activities. If on the other hand, you want to be in the middle of Lahaina with its "royal" weather (the King of Maui lived here and he could live whereever he wanted), with Old Hawaiian ambiance, this is for your. With the travel website discount, it was still almost #200 a night, whereas the Marriott was $500 a night. You decide. The hotel has a dining room that I would have rated excellent (and the dinner was try the spinach salad with mahi mahi added or the seafood scamp--Wow!) except the Kalua Pig sandwich the net day for lunch was pretty bad. I gave it a bad for security because they need to fix it. I won't give the bad guys a headsup on the problem by posting here, but they should fix the problem.

Location, steps to wharf and boating and shops. Way too noisy with bars/bands all around us. The pioneer inn is a historic place set right on the wharf in Lahaina. It's rooms are small, mattress on the bed was old but we were there to be out on the water. We were able to walk right to the docks and book 3 boat tours in a matter of minutes. The inn is next to a park with ancient banyan trees that house thousands of birds that chirp at sunup. So you do not need an alarm clock at dawn. Great location if you want to be outdoors on the water.

Pionner Inn is a good deal in Maui. Right in the heart of Lahiana and easy to get too. Free Parking w/ accessible lot which is huge as parking can be a pain to find. Place is very clean, friendly, and fun. Not a luxury resort with a lot of amenities but great location in the heart of the town and 20 feet from the beach and marina. If your looking for a resort style lush hotel don't go here. My wife and I went to a larger way more expensive resort hotel on the 2nd half of our trip and wish we would have stayed here instead...

Great Location, friendly staff. Bathroom in room dirty old, Pool area bar and grill closes too early. Great staff, great location, and overall a great hotel. Pool and pool area bar and grill needs a little more attention, and bar and grill needs to stay open for guest longer. Pool near our room was open but there were never staff there to give towels or refreshments. The hotel lacked the food quality I had expected but the view made up for it.

Hotel was built in the early, early 1900's. Great Location, on the harbor, upstairs rooms with balconies overlooking Front Street, shops, resteraunts and art galleries. Second story rooms with balconies over looking the activity on Front Street. Clean, recently renovated rooms. No elevator so if you don't like lugging luggage up a flight of stairs, it's not for you. But if you're looking for a historic hotel in the middle of the action, put this on your list.

The Hotel was in a great location and it is a historic landmark in Maui. No elevator. The hotel is in a very good location. It is right at the harbor at Lahania and it is within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. The rooms are simple but very clean and for an older hotel the TV selection was great and the individual balcony off the room is very nice for sitting outside in the morning or evening. There is no elevator so be prepared to carry luggage. The staff is friendly and the price is reasonable. They do accept Best Western travel cards.

At first I thought this might be a loud hotel, being right on Front Street, but is not. The tourist shopping mecca of Maui has got to be Lahaina Front Street, but at night everybody goes back to their hotels elsewhere. In the morning the street is quiet. The warf is right out the front door if you wanna go over to Lanai - but get your tickets ahead of time. The Banyan tree next door is the biggest I guess in the world and it is worth the stay at the Pioneer just to see it.

Great location, historical, great staff, romantic location. No elevator. Super location, central to anything in Lahaina, great view, staff moved super quickly to remedy any glitches encountered, short walk to anything to do in Lahaina. Nice restaurant, friendly staff at same. Historical building, nice setting! Go for it if you're headed for Maui!!

The location was advantageous for individuals who like being the midst of activity. Our room was near the garbage that was thrown from the restaurant. Bad odors. The hotel is ideal for being in the center of activity. facing the ocean, it appeals to the likes of the tourist and locals. It can be noisy due to activity, night and day. However, requesting a room away from the hustle and bustle will give a welcomed retreat.
