Best Western York PavillionWelcoming hotel, freindly staff and within striking distance of York without being too close.Freindly efficient receptionist welcomed us and gave good directions to the room. Hotel was clean and the first impressions were very good. We had a courtyard room 61 which was well presented though a little on the dark side due to it's location. The room had a small dressing area (or work area) adjacent with desk, mirror etc and the bathroom had bath and excellent shower fascilities. We ate at the resturaunt on the Saturday night, the food was excellent and my wife had a whale of a sea bass. The standard I believe warranted the £60 including drinks paid for it and there was no rush to complete courses or any such nonsense. Bar prices were again very fair for a hotel. No real downsides to speak of we would certainly use it again.

Very well kept building and common areas. Traditional English breakfast. This hotel is located about 1.5 miles from town center. Although it is part of the Best Western chain, the local owners/manager have created a sense of family hotel, which well kept and comfortable public spaces, clean rooms, and attractive bar. Free wireless internet is a big plus, when many hotels in Britain still charge extra for this service.

receptionist wasnt great bit of an attitude on arrival because she couldnt find my booking, completley changed when she found it. water pressure in the room wasnt great so shower a bit crap.

A wonderful Bank Holiday In YorkA beautiful hotel situated within short walking distance of York centre. The accomodation was first class as was the customer service. Our stay was very special and memorable.

the room was nice but not as grand as in the advertising picture, staff where very helpful and nice but i must say the breakfast is awfull really lets the place down and i am pritty sure the black pudding was from the day before as was really hard like a brick

This Is a nice hotel, the bedrooms are a good size for a short break. The hotel is situated about 2 miles from the hotel, if you are thinking about getting a taxi to the city centre it will be anything between £6 and £10 depending on which way the taxi driver takes you! If you don`t want to be right in the middle of the city centre then this is a good choice.

I've stayed here approx 3 times. This was my worst stay. This is because the room I had (no. 55) seemed to be situated above the kitchen and the extractor fan was on late at night until I asked the reception to turn it off. It came on again approx 6:30am in the morning so not a very good nights sleep. Other rooms I have stayed in have been fine in the past.

the apartments over the roadwhen we booked a family room we received a phone call to say they had no rooms left in themain block but we could stay in the apartment over the road and did we want to do this or cancel the booking. we agreed to do this and thought that the apartment was lovely. however we stayed in 'the nook' room. the sofa bed that the boys slept on was great but our double bed was terrible. as soon as you looked at it you could tell that it sagged in the middle. once we were in the bed we spent the night huddled up together as we kept rolling into the middle. i had the worst nights sleep of my life. the next day i did mention this at reception and she apologised and said she would pass on our comments to the manager. however i would have expected a reduced fee due to this but it wasn't offered.the main hotel itself was lovely and the breakfast was good too. it was set in a lovely part of york and we would definately go back to the hotel but we would not stay in the same room due to the problems with the bed. if we wouldn't have experienced this problem then our weekend would have been perfect.

Excellent hotel, very polite staff, couldnt be more helpfull.I took my wife here for our Wedding Anniversary. We had a lovely stay and would definately recommend the hotel to friends and family. We will definately return.

Beware of rooms which have not been refurbishedWe travelled as a mixed group for a weekend in York. The accommodation appeared lovely on arrival. The rooms were very mixed as to quality. One of our party had to be asked to be moved due to an unbearable smell in the room. The staff did act promptly about this problem and find another room reasonably quickly. Also the room myself and a friend had was clearly not one that had been refurbished. Some of our party had refurbished rooms with new bathrooms. The service was friendly but sub-standard. However given the price of other central York hortels it was reasonably priced and did not spoil our weekend.

we will never stay at this hotel again, after being given a room which was tiny dirty hand basin chipped crockery,we had to put up with the noise of an industrial extractor fan which the kitchen staff had running all night, by 4am we had had enough, and went downstairs to complain, we were given another room which was much better, however when we went downstairs at breakfast were told that we would have to vacate the room and move back, consequently we were not prepared to do that so checked out. I found the staff disinterested and unhelpful they even had the nerve to charge full price for the most disturbed night I have ever spent in a hotel,both my husband and I have travelled extensively thoughout the world and have yet to experience the total lack of customer curtesy that this hotel failed to show.

If I stayed at this hotel again, I would not choose to use the hotel for my evening meal as I thought the menu choice was quite poor & expensive.The breakfast on the Sunday was 'buffet style' as the hotel was busy, the only eggs available were soft fried- not suitable for my daughter who is pregnant.

The hotel is old but so comfortable! We walked into our bedroom which was huge! There was a four-poster bed and settee. The floors creaked (due to the age of the building) but there was an ambiance about the room. We fell in love with the house and would have been happy to be rich enough to buy it (or one very similar). Our room was at the front of the house so its worth pointing out that it is on a very busy thoroughfare through to York - we live near M25 so traffic noise was not a problem but might not be liked by everyone. Very relaxing stay. Would recommend. Would book again.

The room is Best described as Tired and didn't think it was worth the price I paid, however there is a good pub opposite the hotel which did fantastic food.

Overall very happy with our stay, Room on the small side but to a high standard & would stop again.we stayed 3 night, very easy to get in to York just step outside catch No7 bus every 10mins. Staff very helpfull, Room on the small side but has all you need and to a high standard, loads of parking, Food was good, and bar was handy. Only slight problem we were on the ground floor in the court yard & you could her upstairs moving around alot. But overall i would give it a 7 out of 10 & book again if i was in york.

water was coming through the light fitting above the bath when people above had a shower there were no other rooms available and the receptionist said it would be okay.When buying a drink at the bar about 10pm the till was closed and no cash accepted drinks had to be put on your bill.

AccomadationThe accomadation was old but in keeping, staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. There was a good selection of food on offer at breakfast, and the hotel was situated on a good bus route into york town.

Lovely Hotel with pleasant gardensThe hotel was very comfortable and the rooms well kept and clean. Gardens were very pleasant and would be beautiful in summer. Eevening food was on the expensive side although all seemed to be on th high side in the city compared to others we have visited. Breakfast was god with plently of choice and well cooked. No complaints and would visit again.
