Best Western Hotel - Merrion centreThe room was clean and comfortable and had all that was needed. The guy on reception was polite and very helpful. Liked the bar - but sometimes no-one was there and even when she was did not seem aware of what she was selling and where things were. However all things considered enjoyed my stay, was conveniently placed for what I needed and staff were supportive.

The best factor about this hotel is its location. It is literally five minutes walk from two shopping centers in the center of Leeds. The reception can get you a taxi in less than five minutes. The hotel has an good restaurant and the prices are very reasonable. However, I could not find any laundry facilities - a minor annoyance for me.

Very friendly staff, always happy to help. Buffet breakfast - good value. Good location.

They dont have a clueUpon arrival of the hotel there was 2 others at reception. The pdq machine was not working probably (there was only one). A woman came back saying that there was already somebody in the room she had been given. One of the staff went up to have a look at, the paperwork they where looking at was all over the place. After 40 minutes in reception we eventually got into our rooms. After returning from a night out we where met by a sign that said, we had to ring the security guard to be let in. The security guard advised that he is wont be long as he was busy, I do not expect to be told that I would have to wait to get into my room, the security guard looked like he had just been in a fight.Checkout OH MY GOD!! again they dont have a clue, one PDQ machine, which was not authorising, one of the reception staff decided that even though there were people waiting they would have a sit down. It took us 30 mins to check out. They need their tills to be connected so they can just take payments, and not have one pdq machine, they need to get in the 21st century and get a computer that books the rooms, and maybe have more staff if they cannot get the above.

My service rating is only average, because overall the reception and the breakfast staff were very good, but the evening meal service was very bad

This hotel was ok for an overnight stay. It's not in a very nice area but convenient for the city centre.

Great service but very poor room qualityStayed at the Merrien. I got the room via laterooms so obvious the deal seemed good. £65 in instead of £100+. However, the bed was a fold up afair double - similar in design to a camp bed. What would appear to be fitted wardrobes behind the bed seemed to have had their doors removed and gaps behind the bed which showed exposed water pipes. No air conditioning, which considering the room us usually £100+ I would have expected. Perhaps wrongly. The walls inside by the door - paint was breaking away. The windows only opened a measley few inches. I accept there may be people wanting to throw themselves out of windows but I was hot and didnt want to throw myself out of the room. Upon reflection, I would have simply booked a premier inn (air con as standard) and paid a lot less. Also, no parking. The discount card they gave me didnt seem to work so I had to pay a full night parking. Perhaps my fault. They did knock £15.00 off my bill which wasnt saying much because the company was expensing my stay. Unless desperate, I would avoid.

Small roomI had a single room. It was tiny and rather claustrophobic. You can not actually spend any time in there, it was clean tho. English Breakfast starts at 7am which is late if you have professional meetings to attend. Walking distance to centre and bars. I came acrross a very nice night receptionist and a rather rude day one. Overall is good if you dont need to spend much time in your room.

The hotel is centrally located with reasonable price. However, it will be better if improvements could be made on the following aspects: 1. A small fridge can be added to each room, 2. Room key can be replaced by a key card, 3. All credit cards can be used for the payment for using the computer in the lobby on the 1/F (as now only those credit cards issued by the European countries can be used).

Very nice, modern well-kept room but it looked and felt as if it had not been hoovered for a week or more when I arrived - and it was not done for my second night there. The bathroom, however, was spotless. Generally, a very nice hotel with good service, good breakfast, nice newly furbished rooms. Only downside was the dirty carpet.

Good option for the single travellerThe entrance of the Merrion Hotel must be the worst in the world - but let that not put you off. The single room was small but clean and tidy. The service at reception and at breakfast were excellent. The breakfast was very good - 2 perfectly boiled eggs on request and pretty good coffee. Good city centre location - with a (chargeable) car park next door. And all that for £55 via LateRooms!

Value for moneyGood location in city centre, easy to find. Good customer service and excellent standard of room.

Overall experienceThe hotel is very close to the centre and just 10 minutes walk away from the station. The staff were very courteous and efficient. The room was comfortable with all the required amenities. I booked this trip just the night before arriving so I was really pleased with my experience overall.

Our main complaint was from the noise of all night drinking in the bar, which was very close to our room.

Single room was quite cramped. Kettle was missing and there were no instructions for switching on the TV - took me ages to find the relevant wall switch (by the bed). Lots of hot water for a shower, but very noisy at night being in the city centre. Maybe double glazing would help.

Great StayI stayed at the Merrion Hotel for 1 night ad I had a business appointment in leeds, the hotel is in a great location and it was really easy access to get around Leeds. The hotel offered everything I needed and my room was really clean and comfortable. The restaurant staff were very helpful and breakfast was excellent. I would recommend this hotel and would stay again myself.

This hotel was good for an overnight stay and sightseeing break near to the city centre and manchester academy. Our room furnature was a bit dated but clean and in working order! Bathroom was more modern and agiain very clean reception Staff were happy to help.We paid £65 via late rooms but if had paid the full price of £85 we would have expected breakfast to be included!
