Buffet breakfast. Room. This was a great motel - 50 years ago.

NEVER stay here. Mice in room. Staff is indifferent when we told them about mice- couldn't care less. Could not get an extra banket at 8 pm - said all the staff went home - claimed they had no way to get a blanket, even though there were 50 empty rooms they could access. On check-in - took woman 15 minutes to use computer. Place smells like an ashtray. Please do not waste your money like I did!

Room was horrible! There was mold in the shower. There were empty spaces in the floor when you walked around the carpet. We were afraid of walking around on the carpet in our bare feet! We wore socks and/or socks to walk around. The indian dances were ok. I feel there could have been more to them. The full breakfast in the morning was a joke. There were cold eggs, pastry and oatmeal only. We had to wait for fresh eggs, sausage, etc. The waitress brought fresh toast when we got seated and also juice. The waitress was exceptionally nice and brought a smile to our faces. The pillows on the bed were lumpy. For the price you pay you should offer a better quality. We will never stay at the Best Western Kacina ever again!

The facility was charming. The bath tub was not clean and needed serious attention with cleanser.

I spent four nights here during Feb. 09. This property is a classic 1960s 1 and 2 story MOTEL where you park in front of your room. It has a large lobby, dinnig room and pool area with period decorations. Those fond of nostalgia may want to visit just for the experience. The property is huge with lots of room for kids to run around and even a large lawn area big enough to throw a frisbee or ball. It is very centrally located about a five minute walk from the Taos town plaza and on the road to the ski area. While not gormet, the included hot breakfast was a great deal with about 6 different egg dishes to choose from. On the down side, the property is really showing its age. My room had not been updated for 10 or 15 years and was a bit ragged. The hot water baseboard heaters made a loud clang when it turned on/off and the window in the bathroom was held in with duct tape. Exterior sounds seemed to leak through the walls unimpeded. Overall the room was barely clean eough for me, granted that I'm a bit finicky.

Bed was terrible. Asked for another room with better bed, but was told there wasn't another available. Sheets not clean.

The Indian Circle Dance was the best part! Disgustingly dirty, mildew & carpet in room was wet. Staff was unprofessional. I have to say, this is the 2nd worse hotel I have ever stayed at and I have stayed at some very budget-style hotels! The service is extremely poor- they were frustrated, the room was actually quite disgusting.

Went with a friend for the weekend and the hotel took care of all of our needs. Close to the ski resort and the plaza. Includes complimentary hot breakfast every morning which is nice so you can save a little on eating out. There was also a complimentary glass of wine every night in the bar, this was a nice touch that we really didn't expect at a best western. On a college budget this was a great bargain and I will be returning soon.

Extremely convenient to downtown. Very tacky Indian dancing. Old property with old furnishings, however pretty well kept up. If you need a luxurious bathroom this is not the place. Large room, quiet property, friendly and helpful staff. Great to be able to sit outside in the evening and visit. Poor quality, uninterested dancers who give you the minimum amount they would like for a donation. The hotel ought to drop this event.

You would be better off at the Super 8. This property is in serious need of complete renovation. Not only in bad repair but it is dirty and staff is insolent. The first room I was given a key to had water buckets and no bed, The staff was annoyed when I came back and complained. Don't ever look under the bed--hasn"t been cleaned in years.

Coupons for a free drink in the bar, as well as free breakfast the next morning. Toilet and shower crammed into a very small space, with a cold tile floor. This is a very old hotel, with lots of history and character. Considering its age, it has been updated and well-maintained. Great location on the main drag. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, offering to upgrade our room without our even asking.

Clean and friendly motel. Easy access to Town Plaza. Great service and advise on activities.Excellent Indian dancers from the Taos Pueblo at night. Included Breakfast a plus.Need to be able to request , through Travelocity ,adjoining rooms when in a party that needs rooms together. ( Some adjoining rooms are smoke rooms only)

There was nothing we did not like. We thought the Kachina Best Western, as one of the older chain hotels, was well maintained and charming. The pool was impressive, there are Kachina dancers on Saturday night during the summer, many of the staff members had worked there over ten years, and the art display was an added delight.

"A complete, but narrow selection, complimentary breakfast. Dingy rooms. Poor mattress. Ok pool."

The Kachina Lodge proved to be a good choice for my 2 day stay. Everything was quite adequate and the staff was very accomodating. The hotel is older and could be upgraded a bit though this would undoubtedly increase the price too. I initially had a room in the rear block of rooms which had a heating problem making the rooms unbearably warm. The front desk promptly moved me to another section where the heat was working properly. Room price includes a full breakfast buffet. Overall a very good deal.

"There is no way this hotel deserves 3 stars; maybe 2 at a stretch. We couldn't walk barefoot on the carpet because it was so dingy, and the linen were so old, they felt like cheese cloths. Once the overwhelming deodorizer smell wore off, the mildew smell took over. There was only enough hot water for one person every 30 minutes. The ice machine near us was barely working, so we had to trek to the other two machines when we needed ice. The cleaning and waitstaff were extremely hard working and we felt bad that they had to work with such a decrepit facility."

We were passing through so a stay at this motor lodge was fine but I would not stay if I was on holiday in Taos. We went to the hotel to sleep and left as soon as we got up.

"Short walk to plaza and Bent street shopping. Room walls so thin could hear every word spoke, TV,etc next door. Luckly neigbors went to sleep eary. Free breakfast left lots to be desired. "
