We chose this hotel due to proximity to airport. [...] (staff) was polite and very helpful. He even had breakfast ready for us when we told him we were leaving very early in the morning.

I hated the location, the unwilliness to help me out of that hotel.

This hotel is in a very unsafe area. The sheets on the bed were filthy and there was a bug crawling on the pillows. We believe at one point we heard gun shots and that was the last straw. We checked out and went to a Hampton Inn, which is where we will stay from now on when visitiing Long Beach!!!

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Although the neighborhood for shops and such is sparse, we enjoyed our stay. The desk clerks were VERY helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. We took their free shuttle to the pier, and the manager drove. He was a super guy. I give this hotel a thumbs up!!!!!

Short one night stay in long beach prior to departing for cruise. Access to public transportation gave us some opportunity to explore downtown and hollywood in a short time. I was not excited about the location, however the hotel was fair to nice with very professional landscape to create more appeal. Would only recommend to those traveling on a budget and without rental car.

The entire staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Train platform across the street. Not in a good neighborhood. No decent places to eat. Need drive to eat and play. I would stay here again while on business. Not something I would do if I was planning on a vacation. The hotel really needs a restaurant. Hotel in a bad neighborhood we needed to travel to eat. Do not try walking to the Convention Center or Aquarium.

Although many have written about the location of this hotel, we did not have any problems at all. The neighborhood is ethnic but we did not feel unsafe. The Metro Blue Line is right in front of the hotel and made it very easy for us to get around. We even took the Metro to Universal City Walk. The all day pass only cost us $1.80 for seniors (we're not that old) but we did qualify for it. The Cuban restaurant just a block away from the hotel was good and we did get a pizza from Pizza Hut the 1st night when we arrived late. Our room was clean and recently renovated. Breakfast was ok with cereal/rolls/waffles/fruit. Enough to get you going for the day. What a nice advantage to be able to get a free shuttle to the pier on Sunday for our cruise. All in all, we enjoyed the 3 nights we stayed at the Best Western Long Beach and if you are just there to sightsee, it is a good place to stay for the price. Also, we took an all day tour of Los Angeles with Sunseeker Tours and that was well worth it. If you are looking for luxury, this isn't the place, but if you are looking for a convenient location, a good room, a helpful staff, a decent breakfast and a free ride to the pier for your cruise then you will be happy here.

The night we were checking in the L.B. Police had closed the road on the same block where the hotel was located. He advised us to not stay in the area. We spoke with the night manager and she was unwilling to reverse any charges. We were very disappointed with her attitude towards an unavoidable need to cancel our 1 night stay. We stayed elsewhere in the Long Beach area and are now disputing our charge.

I did not like the hotel location. Another problem was bad parking space.

Friendly and helpful staff. Location is not the greatest but the rooms were nice. Location, good dining nor activities not near. This a hotel I would stay in again for business trips. The front desk and the van drivers were top notch and house keeping keeps the rooms immaculate. Too bad for its location but for the price I can live with that.

good hotel for the value the blue rail line makes this hotel very convenient to the longbeach night life and very easy to get here from lax only 2.50 a 40 minute train ride cab will charge you 55.00 for the same 40 min ride

just needed a place to sleep; decent location; small breakfast area; slow elevator (but only 4 floors, so took the stairs); small parking area; decent decor in room; would stay there again if needed

Excellent staff, breakfast, high speed Internet, microwave and fridge. Quality of soaps provided. For the price paid this Hotel offers great value as mentioned in the survey above. There are quite a few restaurants around - so great choice for eating out. The staff was outstanding in their attitude and customer focus - kudos to them.

This place is a dive and in a bad area. The staff was nice but the rooms are maybe 2* and they smell. The people who have written reviews that are good must own the place or be used to very low standards.......Beware!!!!!!!!

I was very pleased with the accommodations provided. Comfortable room and clean.I would recommend it. There is not much around for restaurants, but the Metro is right out front and a 3 stop ride to the Pike provides lots of choice for dining. Also a free shuttle is available. Fairly close to the Cruise ports.

Pleasant, secluded in the room but busy location. Room was dark, inadequate lamps. It was a good value for the price and very convenient location for my needs.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. It seemed brand new and had a wonderful memory foam bed, refrigerator, and microwave. The bathroom was well appointed and even the tissues were folded in a decorative fashion. The ONLY drawback was having the coffee pot in a dark crowded corner shelf. Not that big a deal since the hotel provided a decent complimentary breakfast, including make-it-yourself waffles. Blue line train to downtown LA s literally just out the front door. Shuttle from LAX was only 15. Overall, a great experience.

It was clean and well located. not bad for 2 stars. Nothing. I needed an inexpensive place to stay in the downtown Long Beach area and this completely fit the bill. The area it's located in is "so so" but quite safe and the hotel itself is very clean and has friendly staff.

The front desk clerk was extremely friendly and helpful. Made us feel welcome and went out of her way to be helpful. There was only one elevator and it was slow. The front desk clerk was one of the friendliest and helpful we have ever encountered. The hotel lobby was very nice, clean and pleasant. The room was very nice. Clean, quiet, nice bathroom with good water pressure. The bed was very comfortable with large pillows. We slept very well. The AC unit was quiet! That was very much appreciated. The area did not seem very good but we didn't need to walk anywhere. The free breakfast was excellent. We were very pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was for the cost. We used to always stay at Marriot's and Fairfield Inns but now we will stay at Best Westerns!
