This is our second time at this hotel,it may not be the best location for everyone but we really like staying downtown and being close to everything,the hotel offers free international calls and internet and free hot breakfast, the staff is wonderful, the rooms are clean,the security is good, we just enjoy walking to the shopping center daily, we have lunch and just mingle with the locals. We will be back, I must add the hotel could use updating, but we still like it.

It was excellent for the price. The hotel was very safe for the location. The location. But the hotel environment made it worth it. The hotel is cheap and is very much worth the money spent. We could always get a taxi and take it anywhere in the city for a dollar or 2 so walking around outside the hotel was never an option. I would recommend staying here for a night or 2 but not much longer. The rooms were clean and the staff was very helpful and plus the hotel had A/C so that was a plus.

The hotel is nice on the inside.. Nice pool.. Nice people. But from a person who grew up in the ghetto, I'd have to say this neighborhood makes the ghetto look like DisneyLand! You're better offer staying at the other Best Western outside of the city or the Sleep Inn or the Holiday Inn.

The hotel was good. We only slept there and went out on tours each day.The neighborhood was not the best, we thought we heard gun shots one night. The next morning the guard confirmed it. We did feel save in the hotel.

the hotel service was exceptional,the rooms were very clean and well kept.the location was not good cant move around in that neigborhood much,especially at night,otherwise service was great.

This hotel is not in the best part of town but offers a hotel taxi service 24 hrs for tips only. During the daytime it is safe to walk if you wish. Very nice rooms, clean with good amenities, room safes, very friendly, helpful staff. Free breakfast and evening cocktails. I have stayed here over 10 times and have always been very pleased with the service. For those of you who may have the occassion to bring a guest back to the hotel, it is permitted but you'll have to have the guest sign in at the desk. Ther is also 24hr security personnel and a secured parking area. There are certainly nicer places to stay in San Jose but you cannot beat this hotel for the price.

neighborhood would seem a bit rough, at the beginning, but so close to the city center, about 4 blocks away,never had any problems, that you could walk virtually to most sites, (as you head out the front door, go left), staff very helpful and acomodating, security was good, front door personal, will flag down a taxi if needed, (recommended, at night) restaurant was good for simple tasty quick meals. a 1:oo or 2.00 tip on the jar at counter is appreciated

The hotel room was awful dirty carpet, totally outdated rooms. I ask for non-smoking and it reeked of smoke. I ask for a view and all I can see is a piece of green tin about eight feet from my window on the second floor. The surronding area was terrible I watched people smoking crack less than a block from the hotel. In four words DO NOT STAY THERE!!!

The staff were very profesional, friendly and attentive. The room was kept very clean. the pool was clean and the dinig area though limeted was quite nice in the morning. The area surrounding area wasn't someplace I would reccomend walking in at night but taxis are readily available and metered.

The good: the hotel is the same as your average BW in the US, the staff was very helpful and security was tight.The bad: The free shuttle was out of service and wi-fi was on-and-off.The ugly: Although very close to the city center, not the best part of town to walkabout esp. at night.

If you have seen Ft. Apache The Bronx say no more. Hotel very basic but clean. Dangerous neighborhood, noise from bars and traffic all night

If you are single and want to see the REAL San Jose. Down town Best Westren is your best bet. You will be in the heart of the city. The hotel is the only nice thing in the immediate area. You will be within walking distance of everyday street life in San Jose with all the frills. You will be safe so dont worry yourself. San Jose is just like any other major city in any other country. Dont look for trouble and you wont find it.
