They had rooms you can smoke in. Dirty clothes behind the drapes from previous client. This was not a pleasure trip. I was just glad to have a place to sleep!

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the last few years and have NEVER come away unhappy with the service or treatment I have recieved from this hotel's staff or management crew. They are very professional in the way they deal with their clients and make every effort to insure your stay is enjoyable. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable with nice ammenities such as a good size kitchenette that is fully equipped to allow you to cook your own meals. Obviously you have to provide your own food but there is a grocery store within easy driving distance where you can stock up the necessities. The fact that the rooms have DVD players along with the TVs in each room makes it great for when the weather does not permit outside activities and you have your kids with you. The view of the ocean from the balcony can not be beat but you must request an oceanfront room to attain the best view. The oceanview rooms are on the side of the hotel thus requiring you to lean out over the balcony rail and look to your right to see the ocean so your vision is limited somewhat in that respect. I like the fact that parking is plentiful with both the above ground and underground parking deck provided at no cost to the customer. Access to the beach is easy from the pool deck. Add in the access to the internet from both the wireless internet in the rooms or the computer set up downstairs in the lobby all clients are allowed to use and that makes staying there tough to beat. The Castillo Del Sol is my HOME away from HOME and I would never consider staying anywhere else when visiting Daytona Beach Florida.

I traveled with my two teenagers just last week for an athletic event at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. This motel is VERY clean, secure, and well maintained. Located an easy 10 minute or less drive from Ocean Walk shops and Ocean Center. Greats: friendly staff, large pool deck with plenty of chairs during most times of day, picnic tables, easy beach access, new elevators, security gates limiting pool and beach access, ocean front room view was great, view from deck is also wonderfully relaxing, free parking garage, easy access to my car without leaving it outdoors, a few restaurants and shops in walking distance, plenty of hot water and towels, provided dish soap, coffee, and kitchen linens, there was also a toaster and can openergrocery store and drug store within a few blocks drive, . Minor inconveniences: patio door was very heavy and difficult to slide, one burner on the cook-top did not work (I kept forgetting to report that, so I can't blame anyone for not fixing it), tile floor in kitchen would build up condensation in the humidity and become slick, kitchen window blind let some light in from parking lot at night, only plastic chairs on balcony---no table or chaise, balcony is not very private, no dishwasher, housekeeping did not replace kitchen towels daily, cheap frying pan. Housekeeping staff was wonderful---they did their work well, did not move my things any more than necessary, and paid attention to the little mishaps (ie. cracker crumbs on carpet, blush powder on the countertop, smudges on mirrors). All staff encountered were friendly and helpful. I will recommond this motel to friends.

The room was attractively decorated and beds were unusually comfortable for motel mattresses. The lighting was too dim. The location was very convenient. All in all, an excellent value.

Ocean side room. Broken elevators. Everything was great. Only disappointing thing was that one elevator was broken during our stay and the good elevator didn't seem to operate correctly. Waiting times for the elevator were sometimes long. Used the stairs most of the time.

I've stayed at this hotel twice, and I love it! I've paid about * per night, each time I've been here, for a beach front room with a balcony and kitchenette. It's great to have the beach at your fingertips. The staff here, from my experience, is VERY friendly and accommodating. In our most recent visit we had a room at the end of the hallway, which was great for noise reduction. We had a slight issue getting hot water in our room at first, but they sent someone up straight away, and there was an easy solution. The rooms, as well as the pool and other public areas, were very well kept. I felt very safe with my car in the underground parking. Overall I have NO complaints about this hotel. It really is a wonderful place to stay, and I highly recommend it.

After having a nightmare experience at another hotel, we drove around to find something better, we found this hotel and were pleasantly surprise. It is very clean and has great amenities. My only complaints would be there is no exercise room and no continental breakfast served. The is a restaurant on-site, but breakfast is no included in your room rate. Very family friendly and with the recent complete renovation, this place is really nice!

As promised, every room had an ocean view. The rooms were spacious, clean, and nicely remodeled. The staff was very friendly! We were even given an extra 20 minutes past late check out to gather our bags. The housekeeping staff was supreme! They were more than helpful and friendly no matter what we asked of them. Each day we walked to the beach or pool; very enjoyable. Great restaurants around, great location. We would stay again!

Excellent property for the dollar spent. Complete renovation of property with all new rooms, extremely comfortable beds, great views, very pleasant stay. Took last minute trip to Daytona, arrived without reservations, checked out several oceanfront properties and found this to be an exceptional value. Highly recommended. Friendly staff.

Everything went smooth. Rooms were large and nice. Parking could be improved due to limited spaces.

Hotel staff very, very nice and funny. None. Everything was very nice starting with check-in. The staff, very funny and could take a joke as well as give one. The rooms were spotless and large.

The room was very clean. However I have yet to stay in a motel or hotel that didn't make up the bed when they freshed up the room on a 2 day stay. We also left housekeeping staff a note that the coffee maker didn't work and would they please replace (you had to stand and hold the on button to brew the coffee) they didn't replace it. The service in the resturant was great. You heard all the street traffic and we had buses both in front of the hotel and side that started the bus very early 6 am and let them idle for 45 min so if your looking to sleep in you may want to ask about bus stays at the hotel we were told the bed was a new pillow tops mattress it was new but not a true pillow top.

This was a great beach hotel. The service was friendly and the oceanfront room was very close to the water & we enjoyed the sound of the surf from the room. This was a very good hotel and we will look to stay here again.

Nice location right on the water. Few guests and had to let water run 20 minutes to get hot. Older property restored nicely. Only one computer terminal in the lobby for guests was a problem when one of the staff stayed on it for an extended period.

we spent a lot off time in the hotel pool and plenty of time on the beach both were wonderful and just the right temp. we spent also enjoyed our room and the kitchen area. There weas just enough room area for the three of us, anything over 4 people would have been too crowded, so three or four per room is comfortable. The room was clean and cool upon arrival, they will clean and change sheeets upon request, it may be late in the day but the cleaning lady was overloaded, and complained of the need for help.We also enjoyed the safe and the dvd it was nice to be able to pop in a movie when we wanted to.There could have been more choices for the cable channels that we hadd but the dvd being there made up for the lack of channels. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Room was very clean. Did not like that the water in shower did not get hot. The room was clean and roomy. We would stay there again.

The view was awesome. We watched dolphins and schools of fish swim from our balcony. Pelicans flew above and below us while having our morning coffee. Steps to the ocean with life guards watching over us and steps to the pool. Staff, especialy [...] were VERY helpful and informative to activities and directions. Our stay was one we will always remember as going to our home away from home.
