More Manuel than Magnificent!Bedroom was fine. Clean, fresh-smelling, and was kept so by staff during my stay. But there were definitely more downs than ups! (a) Breakfast was chaotic in the over-small dining area, with one member of staff trying to cope with over 40 covers. Service was slow which resulted in food being served lukewarm, and they actually ran out of marmalade. (b) When we arrived, no-one greeted us at the Reception area (it became clear that Reception staff also man the bar) and no-one offered to carry any suitcases (no lift!) (c) During the time we were there the Hotel lost wi-fi connectivity and important work I had brought could not be done.

Small RoomsThe room we had was small and tatty around the edges, not to mention ridiculously hot!No ventilation without having a window fully open onto a flat roof! Not very secure!However a fantastic breakfast!

The major attributes of this hotel are the helfulness of the staff and excellence of the food which is highly commended. The accommodation is slightly "tired"; not helped by the low wattage of light bulbs in such areas as bathrooms and corridors. The location is good in relation to access to the city and ease of road approach.

The room although clean was shabby and of need of decoration. The bathroom was from the eighties and the shower dripped. We were only there for the night but would not liked to stayed in the room for several nights. The breakfast was great and the staff friendly but probably the shabbiest room we have stayed in.

Mixed!The first night I was put in what I can only assume is the worst room in the hotel - outdated decor, hard, lumpy bed, dreadful bathroom, and sited right above the kitchen, My tiny window looked out on to a flat roof, which had all the kitchen vents coming out of it. My bed also had numerous black hairs in it - I am blonde !!Fortunately the hot water taps in the bath and sink then ceased working, and I was moved to a decent standard room - so, you are taking a gamble. I will definitely not stay there again.( On the plus side, the breakfast was good!)

We enjoyed our one night. The staff and the food were excellent. The linen was spotless and the bed was comfy, however the overall decor is quite shabby and the rooms could definitely do with a re-vamp.

Good value, comfortable, though needs an updateWe were in room 127 which is a tad small though quite comfortable. Very dated decor (bathroom even has old "sun king" suite in it).... but clean and tidy. Most annoying thing about the room was that lots of (hidden) pipes ran through it, and at 5am the noise was a bit much really.other than that, bar area and restaurant were very good, and there was plenty of free parking. Only a 10 minute walk to town though we caught a bus a couple of times (only £1 for me and free for my Wife as she has a buspass). Numbers 11 14 23 24 or 51 by the way.Overall, a good stay, but would prefer a different room.

Last minute booking same day as stayExcellent spacious room 4poster comfortable bed & sitting area let down rather by poor bathroom: weak shower & poorly maintained decor but serviceable for short stay and would choose good room versus bathroom given the choice.Breakfast excellent both service and food - a perfect properly cooked poached egg which is a rare find these days!

Not the first time I have stayed here, and I will be back!Repeat visits enable me to say that the quality of room and it's appointment varies - my first stay had a very comfy bed & duvet - 2nd stay was hard bed & sheets...... 1st had a very poor shower, 2nd had a better one etc etcIt would be nice to have curtains on the (frosted glass) bathroom windows of the downstairs rooms, as you are very visible from outside (guess how I know!)Overall, there are inconsistancies, but the niggles are outweighed by the professional staff, good food and friendly atmsophere.

Stayed for 2 nights in a single en-suite. The room was clean and functional. Bed was comfortable. The shower was almost pointless, but a bath is ok.With friendly, helpful staff all around, the bar is not the cheapest, but is welcoming, whilst dinner & breakfast were good wholesome nosh.Overall, good reliable hotel, the odd blemish but not enough to cause upset. I'll be back.

Room was small but clean, The shower however was just above dripping speed, Room cold on arrival (5pm) spoke to other guests who also complained their room was also cold.Bed comfy!! Staff very helpful

Very comfortable rooms and clean. Room was nice and warm when we arrived. Friendly staff. Nice bar area to relax in. Nice walking distance from the city centre. Breakfast was good. Little noisy in the evening as we seemed to be over where there was a party going on. Very good overall though and I would certainly stay there again.
