Good location and quality

Excellent hotel, I stayed there by myself and they gave me a huge triple room which was very clean and had comfortable beds. The location was pretty central (about 10-15 min walk to the Royal Mile and the castle). Continental breakfast was also quite good and had a nice variety. The staff was very courteous and helpful. There is a free Internet PC station in the lobby (connection speed was very slow!) The only minor negatives were poor isolation from from street noise (my room was on the ground floor facing the street) and very few tv channels

When we checked in, we got the 2 breakfast coupons which were charged to the room were not refundable if not used , other than that, the Hotel was Excellent. Only negetive was street noise very early in the morning.

good restaurant. The service was excellent and the breakfast deal is good. I asked for an extra egg and there was no additional charge. Huge breakfast included ham, eggs, cereal, fruit, breads and many Scottish breakfast items. Best to park your rental car on the street if you can find a spot and walk everywhere. Better to not rent until you leave town.

Largest hotel room in Britain at a great price. Easy walk from major sites and a 5 min walk from 'Site Seeing Bus' stop. Hotel bar is open 24hrs. Our room had the loudest radiator I've ever encountered.

The hotel was great and handy for the Castle and the Grassmarket area, but even though we got the hotel cheaper than it should have been it was still quite expensive. There are better value places to stay, but it was nice.

The cleaning staff were obsessed with cleaning my room. We had actually booked for two nights 3 times i was asked did i need the room cleaned even with the do not disturb sign up. and when we left for an hour to get something to eat when we came back the room had been cleaned. I actually found that really really annoying. Temp of the room was perfect and very clean and comfortable. centrally located and helpful staff. Only complaint about the room was the ticking of the clock. We couldn't sleep as we both found it excessivly loud. And no parking would be the only reason that i docked marks for value for money

I booked this hotel for 2 reasons. 1) It was listed as 4* on the Laterooms website, and 2) It's located 0.7 miles from the centre. The hotel is certainly a 3*. This is shown on the Best Western website, as well as on the exterior of the building on the AA and Scottish Tourist Board signs. The hotel is certainly off the beaten track. I would be interested as to where the \"centre\" of Edinburgh actually is - it may be 0.7 miles away as far as the crow flies, or when going up and down the never ending steps and in and out of the closes. It's at least half a mile to the National Museum of Scotland, and if you stay on the reasonably level ground (the only way if you have luggage) you are looking at the same distance again to Waverley Train Station and Princes Street. Taxis from the train station cost about £4-5.The hotel is situated in an old building and you can certainly tell. I stayed in Room 308 which was on the main road. I should have taken more notice of another review which commented on the traffic noise. The room was also very musty with the smell being almost overpowering. The decor in the room is starting to show its age.On the plus side the staff are very friendly and polite. I guess I'm used to better hotels. I was expecting a 4* and that's not what I got.

Accessible for the city but not central really. A good walk to the main attractions. I would have been brassed off to pay full rate. And the breakfast was included even though the staff wanted to charge me again fo rit t t £10 per day.

Hotel located on a busy, noisy road. In such a case double-glazing would realy help. Old windows and frames dirty outside and inside

My room was 205 which faced the main road, the only trouble I would say is the proximaty to the traffic and the fact there was no double glazing, which made it rather noisey ! apart from that I cannot fault food, staff or cleanliness. well done !

This hotel is a bit dated and the lift not in the most useful of places - but easy to get to if you are on the westside of Edinburgh. Bathroom a bit naff but functional (needs a bit of grouting!). BUT for general overall rating - good and recommended!

The carpets in the hallways are very worn. I asked specifically for a quiet room away from traffic noise but disppointlingly I was given a room adjacent to a busy street. This was despite the hotel having available quieter rooms at the rear.
