This was my first time to Myrtle Beach, SC and my first time staying at the Best Western Carolinian Resort. It was my honeymoon and I wanted an oceanfront room. I made reservations through [...] and didn't know what to expect for the hotel I had chosen. Well, it was GREAT! My husband and I enjoyed our stay. We will definitely stay here again.

Clean and new. Very large balconies with great views. Comfortable and in a great location. I would stay here again.

The staff is so friendly and eager to please. The rooms are clean with a perfect view of the beach. The location is convenient to Broadway at the Beach among other attractions. We love this hotel so much that we have already booked more stays. This was our first stay at the Best Western Carolinian, but it will not be the last. I would highly recommend this hotel and online travel website had a better rate than other sites and even the hotel itself.

Booked a few months prior to vacation, was not notified that check-in time had been changed from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. When we arrived the hotel was short staffed, and they could not guarantee a room by 3 p.m. However the staffed worked VERY HARD to get a room for the family. The room was amazing. It had an ocean view, full living room, with a table for the kids to eat at, a kitchen which was stocked with plates, pots, pans, and glasses, the bed room was very spacious, and the bathroom had an amazing tub. The hotel is a short drive from boardwalk, and numerous other attractions for the kids. The kids and the parents had an amzing time.

Nice front desk staff. Room was very spacious and comfy. At first we did not have a shower curtain, but within 15 minutes house keeping had one right up to our room. Free parking across the street and very close location to bars, Broadway at the beach and other activities. I would stay again

The fresh air from the ocean view. The water stank. The kids were running the hotel . Both clerks and the bellman did not appear to be over the age of seventeen. The clerks at the counter were unfamiliar with the computer system. They told us to park in the wrong garage which almost got our car towed. Then we had asked to have a wake up call at 6:55pm and they called at 6:10 pm to ask us if everything was okay. Then they never gave us the wake up call that we had requested. When we asked about what time the shops opened up on Sunday they gave us the wrong information. They told us they opened at 12pm and it was actually at 10am. I would have loved to talk to the hotel manager because I felt like the adults were at home asleep and the kids were running the hotel.

Off season, so we had no trouble at all parking in the lot. Room was gorgeous and very clean. Nice bed, bedding, and drapes. Carpet seemed well kept. Over all, very very nice. We had an ocean view room, and the hotel was quiet. Great for the price too. Would definately stay here again. If peak season, I may choose another hotel simply because of the limited parking, as I can see how that may cause a problem.

Upon check-in it was very difficult to park and unload luggage. The parking lot was small and there was not much room to turn around to get out. Cars were backed up with no place to go. When we arrived into our room I noticed right away a large white stain on a blue chair, stains on the curtains by the sliding door, and the carpet was old and worn. I have three small children and I didn't want them sitting on the furniture. The beds were terribly uncomfortable. My husband felt crippled when he awoke. At 6:30 a.m. I discovered that there was NO hot water when I showered. My husband called the from dest and the response given was to run the water for 15-20 minutes. I called back after finishing an ice cold shower and I was told that maintence would be up to speak with me. A hotel employee had a list of 15 other complaints from other room with not hot water and/or water pressure. He told me that an outside company will be arriving in a "few" days to check out the situation. At this point I cancelled the rest of my stay at this hotel. The rest of my family dressed (without showering), packed, and checked out. We drug our 2, 3, and 6 year old children down the strip in search of a vacancy at another hotel. This was an uncalled for inconvience for us. Anyone with small children could understand. This hotel looked to be a place where highschool and college kids would party. I was awoken at 2:00 a.m. by a male right out side my door. In the morning we walked around a broken glass next to our door. Our experience was not enjoyable!

This hotel was not our choice to stay at but were meeting other friends who chose it. We stayed in the tower floor 19 which is a suite. The only ocean view we had was off the corner of the patio. The beds were hard and had cigarette burn holes in them as well as in the sheer curtains. The internet is very slow - no wi-fi- we had to get an ethernet connection from the front desk since our laptop was wireless. There is no continental breakfast - coffee only - you have to ask for teabags if you want to make tea. They will give you "discount coupons" for the restaurant down the street if you ask for them. It is buffet but you can order off the menu- we ate there the first night - okay but nothing to brag about. The front desk help is very slow at check in. There is limited 15 minute parking for unloading only then you have to park in the parking garage 2 streets over and walk across. Good luck crossing the street since the traffic does not stop for pedestrians in cross walk! I guess the only good thing was since we stayed off season (10/08) it was quiet on our floor.

not very often do you get what you wish for but this vacation was perfect. my husband and i arrived with our adult daughter and son in law and 3 year old grandaughter. we reserved an upper floor 2 bedroom 2 bath suite with full living room, kitchen and washer and dryer. the views were amaizing. the weather was perfect. an upper floor ocean view is well worth the money..we had room 1533,an end unit with windows on two walls. what a great memory for us and the kids..

OVERALL HOTEL WAS NICE. few things.. SAFE DIDNT WORK..Hotel room was small and cluttered . could have used a better organization of things. out of dat TV's and decor. Ocean view may mean a slight side view. but the balcony was huge.

The staff was so friendly and helpful in all ways. Nothing. This hotel met all of our expectations. The staff helped us in all ways. The valet found my boyfriend's Vietnam jacket and hat that he had left in the lobby on our check out. We later called back and he had them and when we drove back to get them him was waiting and instantly brought them to our car. Great service. View from our balcony was just beautiful.

I was disappointed with the hotel. My experience with Best Western locations have always been good, but I expected more at a beachfront hotel. First of all, the room was extremely small, no table or sitting room. The balcony chairs were $ plastic stackable chairs from Kmart, with a matchingly cheap stool. The room decor was extremely outdated and poorly painted. Several outlets and "in the wall" holders were coming out of the wall. The tub was stained, as well as the curtain. The tower I was in had 10 floors, and only 2 elevators which were extremely slow. We ended up walking up 8 flights of stairs a few times. There was no breakfast served, you had to cross the street and buy breakfast from the "hotel restaurant", Magnolia. For $ a night, I at least expected a free continental b-fast. Even the coffee pots were empty most of the time! All in all, I won't book at this resort again

First night there in the middle of dinner in our room maintence needed in room to check on cable connection for other rooms We were not having problems with ours TV. Ok tryed to understand that. We had a small child in room and they left cover off cable opening in wall. Then on second day they were drilling and hammering in the room next door and on the floor above us for hours and the baby was screams the hold time he was frighten by the noise. Call downstairs to report and was told they would check on it but they never return call. It continued on. Just a bad trip. The first time we stayed there it was just a wonderful trip. We were telling friends about how good it was .That was reason for second trip there.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. When we needed extra towels there were delivered to our room within minutes. The front desk staff went an extra step and provided me an easier route to take on my way back home.

Due to inconvenience we were moved to suite, wonderful though shower is not working. The AC in the room assigned to us was not working and was for the handicapped, elevator smells like cigarette smoke. Just fine! The suite was beautiful. We were moved to beach overview.

We had mixed feelings staying at this hotel because of mixed reviews. But we decided to go ahead with it since it was such a good deal. The desk staff were OK, but not exceptional. Our room, on the other hand, was excellent. It was clean, though the furniture and carpet showed a little wear. We stayed in the suite tower with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a full kitchen, and living room area. We chose an oceanfront, not an ocean view, so we had a full frontal view of the ocean. We also requested an upper floor, so we had a really great view of the ocean and the coastline. The hotel was right on the ocean, so we could walk out back and be right on the beach. The location was perfect because we were within minutes (driving) of all of Myrtle Beach?s major attractions. The only thing we didn?t like was that the pool was closed for our entire stay (5 nights), even the indoor pool. Plus, the housekeeping was inconsistent. Some days they came at 9 in the morning, and other days at 4 p.m. Some days they would come in and make the bed, take dirty towels, replace toilet paper, etc., and other days they would come and only take the trash. Also, there is no wireless internet in the hotel, even though it is advertised in the rooms. You must borrow an Ethernet cable from the front desk or bring your own. And the jack in the master bedroom was not even working. Also, there's free parking, but it?s across the street from the hotel behind another hotel. Overall, we had a great time here and recommend this hotel to people who are looking for a nice place to stay at an afordable rate.

Hotel is VERY quite, room was clean, great location on the beach, friendly staff. Did not like the beach umbrella restriciton that the city imposes on the beach. Maid service was slow and had to specifically request bathroom to be cleaned. Broken clothes hangers, very poor TV reception, ice machine was only available on the 3rd floor, parking was across the street, kitchen area in the room was very small, incomplete silverware set available in the kitchen, pool is small.
