Our stay at the Best Western Bayside was ok. The room was clean and there were adequate towels, soaps, etc. My main criticism was that I didn't know I had to pay extra for parking ($10), the tv reception wasn't good, and I was disappointed in what was offered at the buffet breakfast.

Reception staff, close to the beach. Breakfast. Overall was good, the staff was friendly, the room was ok, only breakfast was not that good.

I left laundry to be done on Tuesday, and when I checked out on Friday morning, it still was not ready and I had to leave the country without my laundry. So that was less than ideal. On the other hand, the front desk staff were helpful in finding me a way to charge my European cell phone since my charger was not working. So on balance the service was average.

the hotel was okay given the price and location. i was very disappointed with three things: they weren't willing to negotiate a refund when i learned i had to leave a day early, they weren't able to give me a non-smoking room and they gave me a handicapped room. i felt they could be more flexibility.

For the money this hotel was great! Two blocks from the harbor, little Italy and the trolly lines! The staff was very helpful with tips and ideas for having a great visit in their city. The beds were unbelievale! I slept very well.

We came to San Diego to enjoy the sun for a few days before we boarded our cruise up to Vancouver B.C. We rented a car and took a tour of the town. If we would have known the city better we probably would have used the lite rail line and community bus service. The Hotel is 3 blocks south from Little Italy which there is a lite rail stop a block to the west. Things can get a bit noisy with other guests doors closing in an unquiet manner (hotel needs to invest in new closing hardware.) Hotel is a nice place, neighbor hood is good and close to little italy. I would stay their again if I went back to San Diego.

Good location, courtesy transportation to Cruise ship dock. No airport courtesy car available, as advertised. Would not reimburse cab fare. Loud train noise throughout night. Old building, but was clean. The airport courtesy pick up was not available after 11:00 PM, and hotel would not reimburse cab fare from airport. Throughout the night loud train noise periodically disturbed sleep. Staff friendly, decent continental breakfast with pre-cooked eggs and sausage. Courtesy transportation to Cruise ship dock a couple of blocks away. OK, but pricey.

The hotel location was ideal. Practically a ten minute walk to the marina front and just blocks away from some terrifc food in "Little Italy". At first I thought the $10.00 a night to park in the hotel's garage was expensive, then I found out how much it cost to park in lots located downtown. Ten dollars turned out to be very reasonable. The complimentary continental breakfast offered was also a good deal. Great coffee! I stayed on the 7th floor and saw the airplanes flying in, but didn't hear them. The only reason I would stay at another hotel would be for comparison purposes. I was satified with the staff. I traveled with my kids and saw other families staying here as well.

I was a little skeptical at first because of the low pricing. I recommend staying at the Bayside Inn if you want clean luxurious comfort in a great location. This hotel is perfect for the laid-back, low-key traveler.

Bay side is a great hotel for the price and great location. Walking distance to everything. Make sure you ask for the Bay view rooms. They overlook the ocean and is really nice.

Location relevant to downtown activities. Lobby could be nicer. Neighborhood transients outside window are a problem. I would return because I thought the overall experience was of value. Really suggest that you upgrade the lobby somehow. Many people meet in the lobby and this is the first impression.

The shuttle from the airport and to the cruise line was very efficient. The staff was friendly on a 3 of 5 basic and the hotel was very nice, although near a train line, which sounded every 20 minutes or so.My negative comment is about the restaurant. The silverware was improperly presented so that EVERONE had to finger the bowls of the spoons and the times of the forks and the cutting edges of the knives to select silverware. We were there 1/2/09. The hotel (for us) was rather pricey, but within walking distance of Little Italy.

The room was clean, the beds were very cozy and loved the little balcony. This hotel is great if you are going on a cruise because it is only two blocks away from the port and the hotel provides a shuttle to take you to and from. Very quite and great location. Will stay again.

It was right by an excellent jazz club Anthology and I got to see Christian Scott. I think the price was high for the quality of the hotel. I would say it is average. I wanted to save money so I only stayed there one night. A hotel that wasn't much different ended up being sufficiently different. Over 40 a day and it wasn't too far from this hotel.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced, comfortable, safe and clean hotel, this is your place. Don't go looking for luxury, it's basic, convenient but it has all the amenities we look for ie a pool, hot tub, breakfast included. Parking cost $10.00. We arrived to San Diego by cruise ship. The car rentals are located 2 min taxi ride from the ship and once we had our car, it took minutes again to locate the BW and check-in. We were very early and not expecting to get our room so we took advantage of hotel parking and set out on a walking tour. We came to Little Italy within a few blocks. Also in this area was a rental for a fun little vehice a bit like a large co-cart equipped with GPS and a recorded guided audio tour-2 sit not so comfortably . If you get a chance to do this. it is a blast, We decided on the 2 hr tour which took us to many of the city higlights travelling in the city streets-never felt unsafe and only got honked at once.. After lunch at one of the greatest Little Italy restaurants, we headed over to the Midway for the afternoon, certainly a very worthwhile tour. I loved the statue of the Sailor and Nurse kissing. The early evening was spend over on beautiful Coronado Island. Very good experience overall, front desk staff friendly and helpful, breakfast was adaquate, a bit crowded due to a tour bus excursion but all in all quite fine. A definate choice if we get to visit again.

Location. Beds are really uncomfortable. Overpriced compared to other on-line hotel booking sites.

Hotel was quiet, clean and affordable for the deal we received on online. The only odd thing was they booked us into a room with accomodations for disabled.

Stayed there in Sept. 08. My friend wanted a room on the "city" side of the hotel so we wouldn't face the trolley side (noise). The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and gave us an even larger room at the same price. Lovely room. We asked for additional amenities (soap/shower gel, etc.) and got it ASAP. They serve a continental breakfast (free) in the dining room that is really elaborate (toast/eggs in addition to the usual offerings). They also offer a free shuttle service and even offered to take us into town but we decided to walk instead. They let us park for free on our check-out day too and stored our belongings in their storage room. The price was very reasonable and we certainly got our money's worth! I recommend this property very highly.

I was hesitant about a "Best Western" but its location near the Embarcadero area in San Diego was good. It is located on Ash. When we arrived it was busy but the staff were very pleasant and efficient. We had a room on the 10th floor with a view of the Bay. The room appeared to have been recently renovated. The Bed was excellent. We did not have time to take in the breakfast.
