The room reeked of smoke and after complaining to staff we were moved the next day but the first night was not very pleasent. We were convienient to the train station and all bus transportation to the center of town which was only about a five to ten minute ride away.

Close to train station. Renovations did not encompass my room/wing. Half the hotel was nicely renovated, but you may stay in the older wing. The fire alarm was mistakenly set off many times during one night, poorly compensated for that.

Dublin is incredible! The staff at The Ashling Hotel are very warm and friendly. The restaurant was great and the Guinness Lounge was a fun time, can't say enough about the staff. The room was cold, but they brought a space heater which helped. If you go in the winter, the room will be cold but they will do all they can. I will go back to Dublin and I will stay here again, close to the train line and a short walk to everywhere, also very safe.

Toured Ireland and my favorite hotel was the Ashling. The staff was wonderful, the place was very elegant, the price was very reasonable and defintly worth every euro. I am returning to Ireland very soon, will be staying in another city but will be making arrangements to visit Dublin and the Ashling as part of my trip.

For the most part the Ashling Hotel was a great place to stay. No complaints about the room itself other than a mini fridge would be great, but from my experience in European hotels that will probably never happen. Room had a TV with about 15 channels (mostly BBC), hot pot with coffee and tea supplies, and a trouser press in case you have really wrinkly pants I guess. Location-wise, the hotel is right near Heuston rail station and right in between the Heuston and Museum stops on the Luas. This is very convenient if you do any day trips out of Dublin via rail as we did. You can walk to Heuston in less than 5 minutes to get a train to the south and west. Or if you need a train from Connolly to go to Belfast or wherever you can get there via a 15 minute Luas ride. Plus the 748 bus to the airport drops off and picks up at Heuston, so you have to walk less than 5 minutes to get your luggage from bus to hotel when arriving or vice versa when leaving. The only downside of the location is that it is not all that close to the city center (Temple Bar, O'Connell St., etc.) While there are a couple decent pubs nearby (I'd recommend Ryan's, which is just up Parkgate St. toward the Phoenix Park), if you want shopping or restaurants you need to go elsewhere. However, the whole Jervis / Abbey St. / Henry and Mary St. shopping area is only 3 Luas stops away (10 minutes or less). Temple Bar and Grafton St. are a little farther as they require a Luas trip followed by a short walk (maybe 10 minutes) down and across the river (or alternatively a trip on the bus). If the red and green Luas lines were actually connected you wouldn't have to do this walk, but at present that's not the case. The Guinness Lounge in the hotel had pretty good food if you're hungry and don't feel like venturing too far. The Irish breakfast served in Cobblestones Bistro was good - the only problem is that it's the same exact selection every day. After a week I got tired of eating the exact same fried eggs, bacon

Very convenient location to public transportation and a few sites. The bed and pillows were very hard and uncomfortable. This hotel is very conveniently located to public transportation. The tram stops right down the street and the bus station that goes directly to the airport is right across the river from it. The staff was very courteous and helpful. They took care of some very noisy customers very quickly. The continental breakfast was all I had and it ample for the money.

Let me say that this is not the fanciest hotel but definitely one of the better ones! Full Irish Breakfast included with room...never went hungry! Access to public transportation....Tram, train or bus....everything right there! Staff....exceptional!!!! They will bend over backwards to help you! Friendly...caring....helpful!!! What more could you ask?! Close to almost everything and security....they buzz you into the hotel at night! No bums or beggars to worry about! Food was good...Guinness was good....time was GOOD! Not alot of money neither.

The staff went beyond what one would expect and had excellent attitudes. They were under construction. The staff was suburb and the breakfast was delicious.

This older, conveniently located hotel is a good place to stay in Dublin. Hop on the tram and you are at O'Connel St or Temple Bar areas in minutes. Cozy pub has free wireless for guests, a real plus. The staff's service left a bit to be desired but was certainly adequate.

No self laundry, poor concierge, staff didn't know directions well. We were very disappointed with our stay as there was construction that started at 8:00 am every morning. No coinop laundry facilities, no concierge, staff wasn't helpful with directions or where things were. Staff in restaurant was OK, one in particular was very rude to others she was working with, carried on so guests could hear.

Though the staff was courteous enough-after several calls to the front desk to fix the strobe light in the bathroom and the lack of hot water and heat in our room (which we had booked as two double beds but had one double and a single)-several people appeared-brought in a heater and fixed the light and explained that the water needed to run for 5mins or more to achieve the temperature hot enough to shower. After that-all was well-a little shabby but great location. Near Train station and Luas.Temple Bar and museums.

Very helpful staff. Not too desirable an area. Very nice hotel for the price. Construction got us up early. Rooms were larger then most we have ever had and would hold a family easily, which is hard to find. I think it will be romantic when the construction is done. The area wasn't the best but it was very convenient on a tram line and near the train station for an easy trip to the airport.

Had a no hassle vacation. The hotel is well located, close to train station, Dart and bus stops. A fair walk to central Dublin but duable if you are up to it. The staff are friendly and helpful. Would stay there again. Felt very safe.

Near Train Station and buses. Friendly staff. Need bus to get to center of town. This was our first trip to Dublin. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly and helped us get our orientation on the city. It has a nice restaurant and a bar that serves food until 11:30 pm. For the trips downtown you need a bus, however, it is a short ride. The location is near Houston Station which has direct buses to the airport.

It was okay. Noisy, construction was going on, I expected a complimentary continental breakfast and they said no. The building is being expanded so there is a lot of construction noise. The hotel was a good no frills first stop in Dublin.

Location. Staff, no A/C. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. It was not, in my opinion, a 3 star hotel.

They gave me a heater for the room. The room was freezing, bedding felt damp. Ash ling is located near the Luis a, transportation you can hop on to go to the center of Dublin. The hotel is also is beside Houston Station where you can get a train to other locations in Ireland. It seemed family friendly because I saw a lot of families at breakfast. The breakfast arrangement is a bit wacky but you do get looked after.

Nothing. Location, shabby conditions, TV did not work. This hotel is located near the Houston train station. It is located on the Luas tram line for easy access into city center. This Luas tram is always packed and is very uncomfortable to ride, plus the area is not considered a safe area for being out at night. Many better hotels for close to same price near city center would have been much better.
Date of Stay:
March, 2006
The location is great for city visit by tram. The price of the breakfast was a bit high. 12.50 euro. The hotel was very nice. The location was great. The people were all so friendly.
Date of Stay:
November, 2005
It is located in close proximity to the LUAS public transportation service. The bar did not take credit cards This hotel was comfortable and cozy, with plenty of amenities including bar, restaurant, and vending.
