Excellent location!Generally a very good hotel - clean rooms, reception very friendly - but best of all is the location!A couple of gripes:-1. Nobody came to serve us at the bar despite there being about 5 people on reception at the time.2. The shower would only operate on freezing cold or scalding hot - could have been quite dangerous for a young child.Would have rather it cost £90, but for £120 value was reasonable for Bath.

This was my 3rd time staying here. The hotel is old with stairways going in very direction and the room numbers do not make much sense. But the hotel is located right next to the Bath Abbey and the center of town making walking access to the town very easy. The rooms are clean and the beds are OK. I have always been given a very fair price for the rooms as I often do work for a nearby museum. Breakfasts are excellent but often cut off too early for me. Parking is a big issue. You have to park at a public off site garage and if you dont get up and plug the meter by 8am you get a nice 30 pound ticket which I did because I didnt get up in time to go plug the meter. Very irritating for someone trying to enjoy some vacation time. There should be hotel tickets that could be displayed on the dash boards so a little slack could be cut for those of us who like to sleep in a little on vacation.

Business stay in BathIf you are looking for a low cost option in the centre of Bath, why not stay at the Abbey Hotel. The rooms are passable and the breakfast is good. The restaurant is not appealing for an evening meal but there are plenty of other eateries nearby

Great location!Room was slightly small, but adequate and spotlessly clean. Very comfy! Shower bit rubbish though. Brilliant location for wandering round Bath, had everything on your doorstep.

Abbey Hotel, Bath ReviewGenerally good. Location excellent for city. Reception & resturarant staff were helpful, even under pressure.Minor gripes: - water was warm, but not very hot for baths & showers- porridge chewy - not properly cooked- the usual problem of fire doors slamming (I cannot believe that it is imposible to make a door to fire regs that does not sounf like a gun going off when it closes).- the lift makes a grinding noise, giving the impression that maintenance is not taken seriously.- only 1 tea bag was provided in th room, along with the usual UHT milk (yuk!). Why not provide green tea bags as an alternative?

Needs some TLCFantastic location: but they clearly rely on that. There was no attention to detaial: water cold, shower pathetic.I felt as though I had gone back 20 years! I expect more from a hotel in 2009

Hotel was well placed and central for main attractions and car parking in Bath. Receptionist on arrival was very pleasant and made quite an effort to arrange early access so that we could change for a wedding which started at 1pm! A real treat to meet such very nice staff.

SHOWER - Room 307Room 307 shower was very poor. Shower is very important to the comfort of a hotel stay. Temperature/pressure both unacceptable.Woken by chamber maid on departure morning. Not enjoyable!

Excellent location, but lacking on a few fronts!I really loved the location of this hotel. Very comfortable and clean.Friendly and helpful staff. Quite rerasonable in price. I would have preferred a duvet on the bed and the shower was inadequate-just a shower head attached to the bathmains!! Was wary of opening my bathroom window as the pigeons were perched there!!! Would have liked a better selection at breakfast as i dont do the cooked b'fast thing!!

Abbey HotelWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Abbey Hotel. Our room was clean and tidy when we arrived and it was made up everyday to that standard while we were out of the room. The breakfasts set us up for the day ahead. Staff were helpful and although the problem that we had with the cistern was attributed to old plumbing, it did not affect us. Hotel was in good location and we were within walking distance of all of the historical sites and good restaurants..

Hotel in centre of Bath requiredWe were really pleased with the hotel, excellent location, easy to find, close to a number of pay and display carparks, THE HOTEL DOES NOT HAVE ITS OWN CARPARK. Staff were very friendly and helpfull. Our room was at the front of the building over the main entrance and we had no problems with any noise. The room itself was large and well presented, rm105 for info. If I had to pick up on a minor fault it was that the bath grouting was slightly dirty and there were a few dirty watermarks on the bathroom ceiling but this is being very picky!! All round a great hotel and the english breakfast was well cooked and delicious! I would definitely use this hotel again.

Having previously used the Abbey whilst staying in Bath for training courses with work, I jumped at the chance of staying again when running the Bath Half Marathon. My main reason is the location, it is on North Parade which is a few minutes walk from the train station and just around the corner from the shops, main tourist sites and more importantly the start of the race. However whenever I have stayed at the Abbey before it has always been on a week night and to my surprise and general annoyance I was rudely awoken at 2am by music blaring from the nightclub opposite, not the greatest race preparation!
