Description:
The Bertram Inn offers the opportunity to step back into another era. Built in 1907, The Bertram Inn was originally constructed as a private residence for a wealthy Boston merchant. The present owner, Bryan Austin, has not only restored the house, but also established a collection of period antiques showcased in each room. He and his wife have restored each room to a balance of atmosphere and comfort. In the morning the living room becomes a cheerful breakfast room where a hearty continental breakfast is served in front of a crackling fire. After a busy day this cozy retreat provides a place where guests can relax and treat themselves to complimentary afternoon tea. We are located on a quiet street in Brookline just 15 minutes from Boston center via public transportation, and a few minutes walk from a variety of shops and restaurants. Located two miles from BOS-Boston

We needed a nearby, cozy getaway from our hectic Boston days. This is it! Elegant but welcoming, always a delicious snack or drink available.

The Bertram Inn is the best kept secret in Boston! After a long trip, we were pleasantly surprised to find a warm welcome & cozy room awaiting us. They upgraded us to a suite & we felt like we were at home. Some of the rooms have fireplaces with firewood & instructions on using them. The staff were wonderful & very helpful, even Googling directions for us to find a store in Boston. The T-stop is a short block away.Breakfast was very pleasant in the cozy dining room & there were homemade cookies all day. We will definitely be back. Thanks for everything!!

The inn was located at a great location and we got a wonderful deal. However, the minute we checked in and the attendant found out that we booked through orbitz, they seemed to cold and impersonal (like we didn't matter as much as the rest of the guests. We loved the quiet atmosphere, the proximity to the subway and boston, and the snacks were great and there 24-7. The breakfast was not as delicious or plentiful as they madeit seem on the website.

Attractive Inn. Noisy street. The Inn was in a good location for travel around Boston. The staff was friendly and the Inn was clean. Breakfast was above average.

The inn-keeping staff were the perfect balance of helpful/detail-oriented and chill. The accommodations were also a great balance of proper and casual. The inn itself is a beautiful house with lots of common space, including a sunny outdoor deck, indoor sunroom and cozy living room. There were always yummy snacks, water, coffee, tea and lemonade available. The breakfast was buffet-style with lots of options. The location of the inn is literally a 3-minute walk from one of the busiest and most reliable T lines, which gets you in to downtown Boston within 15 minutes. But the Brookline neighborhood is also a great place - Trader Joe's is even 5 minutes away -- we got all we needed for lunch/snack for the day's Freedom Trail walk for $10! Honestly, there wasn't a thing about the Bertram Inn that I would improve. **For what it's worth, my partner and I are 30, and we are not B-n-B 'connoisseurs.'**

Attention to details was evident in everything from the decor of the rooms to the delicious breakfast. Getting to the third floor rooms might be challenging for the elderly or physically challenged - only stairs. We loved this bread & breakfast. Each room was furnished differently and attractively. The atmosphere of the foyer, living room and front porch made us feel at home. Other guests seemed to be enjoying themselves as well. People could sit by themselves or join others at the larger table. The rooms were clean and charming. Depending on your needs there were rooms with double or king size beds, fireplaces, sitting areas etc. A daily weather report was placed on the turned down bed each evening. The staff was very friendly and helpful - eager to make sure we were comfortable. The breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. Hot beverages and snacks were available during the day and evening. The location is good and easy to find. Parking is extra but off street and worth the nominal fee.

spent 2 heavenly nights at Bertram and am already planning for when I can return. clean, comfy rooms (note: not all have bath tubs so ask if it's a preference) and yummy hot breakfasts (creative menu with a different main dish daily) are only the beginning! Bertram has excellent staff who adeptly balance giving space with attentiveness...and not only do they perform the honored ritual of turn-down service, they also leave you a little poem to go with your chocolates.

Unique and beautiful details in rooms. Great location and unique staying experience. Gorgeous room on first floor with fireplace and gorgeous woodwork. Bathroom was slightly lacking, but still clean and spacious enough.

The Bertram Inn is located in a quiet but vibrant neighborhood, 2 minute walk to Coolidge corner which has very good restaurants and markets. The T is a short walk which gives you access to the most visited parts of boston for about $1.25 per ride. Our room was nice, but rather small...#7. I would ask to see the room first. Staff was helpful and nice.

Great location for BC and Boston. No heat in room. Great location between Boston College and Boston with off-street parking. Below standard room conditions on 3rd floor. No heat and missing lights.

The Bertram Inn provided excellent accomodations and convienence during our stay in Boston. The Inn is a classic older home with character, much more interesting than a cookie-cutter hotel. The staff was very helpful and attentive. The Bertram is only one block from the T in Brookline. It was great to leave our car and take public transportation into Boston. We were only a 10 minute ride from downtown and never had to deal with traffic or parking! The breakfasts were wonderful and there were always snacks available. I will definitely stay at the Bertram the next time I visit Boston.

Warm and friendly - charming Inn with beautiful architectural features. Can't think of a thing. Charming old Inn with lovely rooms and a delightful all day snack table with home baked cookies, fruit and tea and coffee. Great location near Longwood medical area and easy walk to subway to Boston.

If you want to stay in a quiet Boston neighborhood B&B, this is an excellent choice. Lovely rooms, nice full breakfast and afternoon tea--which one can enjoy from the patio(weather permitting). The ambience of world surroundings with new world comforts. Very convenient to many area universites and the T.

Beautiful, romantic, comfortable. Great room and service. Close to T. Hot water in bathroom sink too hot! I greatly enjoyed my stay. The roomwas beautifully decorated and cozy. The inn is gorgeous and well-lit with affordable on-site parking ($15). Wireless internet. Great staff. And did I mention the food. Hot breakfast (waffles and bacon for me) with yogurt, fruit, and granola. Also had the choice of cereals, pastries, bagels, etc. Coffee, hot chocolate, and tea (and even fresh-baked cookies) available all day. Also just a block from the T (green line).

Place and location were great. Staff was less than helpful but manager/property manager made great strides to make our stay more pleasant.
