A catalogue of disasters - but we would stay againWhat a pity! We had a chaotic stay at this hotel, but we would try it again. The building is superb, the cooked breakfast faultless and really lovely people working there. It's just that they seem to lack the management for the hotel to run smoothly. We arrived late in the evening and found that the room allocated was a single instead of a double. The hotel was full so no double was available. They offered to arrange another hotel but we really wanted to be in the same area and it was late. In the end we agreed to use a room in the basement that was really out of action due to a leaking bath. But they did agree not to charge us for the room.Breakfast started well with our order taken. We then found there was no bowls for cereals, After asking one bowl arrived. The fruit had run out so my wife waited for bowl and fruit. In the meantime I noticed other people standing around waiting for things, such as jam and marmalade. Pastries had also run out. The toast didn't arrive, we asked what had happened to it. We asked again about 10 minutes later. The cooked breakfast did not arrive. It's on its way we were told, there is only one chef on that day. We asked for the pastries again. We asked again for the toast. And again for the breakfast. We wondered if we were being singled out as they were not charging us for the room. But no, other people were still standing around waiting for things. Eventually the toast arrived, but white as they had run out of brown. Still no sign of the breakfast. After three quarters of an hour they admitted that my breakfast order had been lost. When it did eventually arrive it was superb. This hotel could be wonderful. It is in the centre of Bristol in a lovely square and has been fitted out with inspired furnishings. The staff were very apologetic for the poor service, but clearly did not know what to do apart from saying they would tell the general manager of the problems we had. We would de

Perfect location for a city breakThe hotel is located in a quiet leafy square, yet is in walking distance of many attractions. It was an added bonus to keep the car parked as we didn't need to use it during our stay. The hotel staff were very friendly. Taking advice of others we didn't eat breakfast in but took a very leisurely walk to Clifton instead and ate with the locals. The hotel room was rather stuffy and airless but we spent so little time there it didn't matter. The special deal made the room rate great value for money.

Great hotel at top of Park Street, in quiet locationGreat hotel, lovely decor, great friendly staff. One thing to bear in mind is that the hotel has a bar and restaurant open to the public, and popular, and with an outside terrace so it can be a bit noist. If that bothers you ask for a room overlooking the street as itis not noisy, as hotel is in an square and opposite a small grass area.would recommend staying here, it is atthe top of Park Street in Clifton, easy walking distance to the riverside, the shopping area and the bars and restaurants of Whiteladies road. Also opposite the Bristol Museum and near the Cathedral.

Perfect for a city breakExcellent customer service, easy to park (when I visited I park right outside), easy to find right in the city centre - perfect for my business trip. The stylish decor and attention to detail (fruit bowl, Bristol sherry) made a nice personal touch from bigger chains.Would not hesitate to recommend for business trips and city breaks.

Excellent place to stay but a few little things let it downI very much enjoyed staying at the hotel - the room was a little on the small side and was too warm and in the mornings, very noisy. The little touches were much appreciated - fresh coffee, fruit and sherry. The food served in the restaurant was excellent except the breakfast which let it down - commercial carton orange juice (why not freshly squeezed), OK yogurts, no flapjacks as advertised and would have been easy to offer freshly made bread. The hot breakfasts looked excellent

Stayed for five nights whilst my wife was in Hospital. Kept the car in the hotel garage for the duration which was excellent and reassuring. Only had room service meals due to the nature of my stay but these were excellent and good value. Will definitely return with my wife for a more conventional stay!

my recent stayBoth myself and FLO were very impressed, i only have a couple of minor points to mention:1) instructions for the tv and sky would be useful (for dinosaurs like me!).2) Decoration in the bar/club downstairs, in daylight could do with freshening up (although don't suppose many people see it it daylight, do they). Also it did look a tad dirty in places. The above said, we both enjoyed our stay very much and would stay here again

Berkeley Square HotelThis was a really welcoming hotel - from the staff at Reception to the staff in the dining room. I had a single room, which was quite small, but contained some nice features - fresh fruit, a cafetiere and a really good quality television. The hotel is close to the University and to Clifton, and you can walk to the centre of Bristol really easily. The food was excellent. I had an evening meal in the hotel and the quality was very good for the price. I also liked the fact that there was a choice of continental or hot breakfast - it really annoys me when I have to pay an exorbitant price for just toast and cereals.

A pleasent placeWe stayed here for one night, a Sunday, in a double ensuite room. We paid £80. The room was clean but rather small. It had a lot of free stuff in it but not much space to put anything down. The fittings were a little tired but the bed was very comfortable and we didn't hear a sound from another guest or from outside. You can park in their lock-up garage for £7 a day, and wi fi access costs £3 for an hour. The hotel is very well placed for the city with lots of restaurants and coffee shops in the next street. The young chap on reception when we arrived was very helpful and gave us a map of the city and directions to where we were going that evening. We didn't eat at the hotel (a cooked breakfast costs £11.50), instead we ate round the corner where a full veggie breakfast costs £2.95.

A small hotel with quite a flourish. Dignified Regency exterior on a Regency square belied interestingly quirky interior public rooms. Bedroom (single), though small, was well designed and appointed. Complimentary sherry decanter, real coffee and fruit bowl provided the flourish. Location provided excellent accessibility.

Beautiful hotel with classic look on the outside and bright modern interior. Great location in groovy Clifton with loads of cool restaurants and coffee shops on the doorstep, breakfast at Rocotillo's diner is highly recommended! Room was nicely decorated, cosy and very clean. Staff were friendly, polite and attentive. A pleasure to stay at this charming hotel.

The room was well-aired, comfortable, with wonderful teas, sherry and bathing accessories. Location is in a lovely area of Bristol, though I did not have much time to go about as I was on a 1 day business trip. The staff were very helpful. I cannot comment on the food as I left before breakfast had been served.

Major disappointment is that the radiotor in the room did not come on even once throughout the night I spent there, and I had brought it to the attention of the staff

We were in Bristol for a wedding that was at 2pm (checking in time). We phoned ahead and they bent over backwards to get our room ready for us at 12pm so we could shower and change. The hotel is very good position in Clifton close to the Bars and restaurants. The room was good size with modern decor and an amazing shower!

The room was tiny and outdated, bathroom in a very poor state. The staff is friendly, but this doesn't make up for the bad quality of the room.

At £105 per night I would expect more than a tiny room that is advertised as a Superior room. The little touches like fresh fruit, milk and the sherry are nice but neither the TV nor stereo could live up to its marketing description. The bathroom is very small and the age of it showed in the showerhead and other fittings.

Lovely room - with a view as requested - quiet location in green square yet very central. Minor reservations - the room did seem rather warm though certainly a fan was provided: blanket on bed looked as if it had seen better days. Overall we enjoyed our brief stay in this very pleasant hotel and appreciated the real coffee, fruit and sherry provided in the room.

Excellent position within minutes of restaurants and bars. Only on-street parking, (pay & display) but space was not a problem at night.Designer style hotel but my room was in need of a little TLC with the bathroom in particular missing various bits of trim.Staff very friendly.

Excellent! The staff were quick, helpful and friendly. The room was small but well-equiped and clean, wioth a good shower (starting to show its age, but perfectly okay). Excellent in-room tea and coffer facilities, including real coffee and fresh milk (ask at reception) and some fresh fruit. The only down-side there was the free sherry - it tasted a bit stale - but where else at that price would you get free sherry? And it might just be Harveys Bristol Cream - too sweet for us. You have to pay for public parking, but you are slap bang in the nice part of a busy city centre with car parking available ouitside the hotel in a beautiful square, so get real. Also, if you are like me - slightly disabled and have a genuine blue-ticket - it is free. We didn't eat in the hotel so we can't comment, but the menus and prices looked good, so next time we stay there, we will try it. Yes, we will stay there again!
