This was our 3rd Year Anniversary and our 1st stay in San Francisco. The Hotel was a 50'-60's style hotel, well decorated yet up to par with its safety and decor standards. The bar connected to the Hotel is an Irish Pub, very roomy with a Rustic Appeal to it. The service was great and the guests were warmly welcomed. Great Location for all the places you would like to go in the downtown district. The Hotel stated that they have a restaurant inside the Pub, but the kitchen is temporarily out of order. It's under construction which wasn't stated until we arrived in the pub to order a dinner. Although there was no kitchen, the Pub did provide an alternative meal of a Hot/Polish Dog with all the fixings when you purchase a drink. The BIG ISSUE, that was a downfall is, that THERE IS NO PARKING!!!!. BE PREPARED TO PAY FOR VALET PARKING (PER DAY), OR SPEND 1-3 HOURS LOOKING FOR PUBLIC PARKING (and possibly having to wake up early and move it each day). NO A/C, they do provide a big fan. Some of the reviews complained about noise, but we didn't hear any (heavy sleepers) and we had a back room. The front rooms may have a different story.

Excellent location, room and facilities good. Light breakfast included.

It is in a very good location, easy to reach from almost any city key points. Rooms are just a bit smaller than expected, but not a really big problem when you realize it is so practical and more space is just not necessary. Breakfast is so much better what I was expecting for (I've been in european small hotels and breakfast is so poor!), of course if you are conscious about the hotel costs, juice, milk, coffee, bread, cereal, fruit.. is all you need to start the day! Staff is very friendly and always answered our questions in a good way. Buying with Orbitz was great because we didn't waste time in check in or check out. So good!

shabby old hotel, small rooms, run down furnishings, location not very desirable, would not reccomend

The main factor in real estate is location, and this hotel certainly has an excellent one, and the price is hard to beat. The room was clean and quiet, for downtown San Francisco. The staff though I suspected was a little stretched and seemed harried and at times unavailable. If you are looking for a simple and convenient place to sleep, this could work just fine.

Good value for money. Room was very clean, great location and the continental breakfast was better than expected.

This is a small hotel but located in a great area of town. We walked to Chinatown which was only a few blocks away. Powell Street and the cable cars were only about a block away. The employees were friendly and the hotel clean but old. The rooms are very small and the bathroom only had a sliding door which would stick at times making it difficult to get out.

Beresford Hotel San Francisco is a wonderful hotel to stay in, with its good location and great room comfortness, though there isn't really any window view. A fine range of complimentary Breakfast is provided every morning in a nicely-decorated restaurant/room at the lobby level in the hotel. Pleasing. One important tip: The hotel rates from other websites and the hotel homepage are usually quite high, but sometimes [your website] does provide a much lower rate if bookings are made earlier in advance. I would definitely go back there when I have the chance to go travelling in San Fran again! :))) !

No AC but not needed in SF. Clean but small rooms. Enjoyed the jacuzzi built into the bathtub. Decent continental breakfast. Harried but helpful staff. Garage used for valet service not up to par. Waited for an hour on the first day, car may have been used without our permission by garage employees. Second day was much better, and mileage was not over what it was supposed to be. Close to some major attractions. Good value.

We had two separate stays in this hotel and will return in future. For this city, the hotel provides very good value for the price charged, which includes breakfast, and the staff is very accommodating. Plumbing may need some updating/fine tuning (in both rooms we found it somewhat tricky to get the right temperature for the shower), but once achieved it stays constant). Carpet could get a good clean-over.

The location is a prime spot to be in. A few blocks from union square, trolley rides, and food joints all over. The hotel is kinda old, but it wasnt falling apart. The staff was so friendly helpful, you would think they were family. The room was kinda small, and didnt have a view but there really wasnt much of a view anyway but other buildings around. The maid service left us towels by the door in a bag, which we didnt even request because we had our do not disturb sign on. The continental breakfast was good. They had a cool little tavern looking bar/restuarant where they served the breakfast. Ive read reviews where people just bash places because they think they are gonna get a 4 star hotel, paying 2 star prices. This place is a good bang for the buck for its location and hospitality. I would stay here again and recommend it.

I booked a room with 2 twin beds. The room was clean and very small but if you are going to be out sightseeing and only need a place to sleep, this is a hotel that I would recommend. I had a little bit of concern with the window of my room. My room was in the second floor. You can close the window but it could not be locked but nothing happened. The room was quiet as it was at the back of the hotel. The location of the hotel was excellent. It is a 5 minute walk to Union Square where you can take the trolley and a 15 minute walk to the Financial District. The price was good and I will stay again at this hotel.

I came up to take part in the Gay Pride Festival in June and to visit my Sister who is going to school in the area. Other then a shocking comment that I over heard when I walked in that was later cleared up, the stay was wonderful. This hotel was beautiful! The staff was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. I really enjoyed the say and look forward to coming back.

It's hard to write a review for this hotel because while my initial reaction to our room was a little disappointing, the place has a nice cozy feel that grows on you. I'll start with the positives. My wife and I had a very clean room and the hotel staff was very helpful. The location of the hotel was fantastic and if you are driving, I would definitely recommend the valet parking the hotel provides (for a fee) with in & out privileges. On the negative side, I would say that the furniture is old and should be replaced soon, the bed was only marginally comfortable and the walls are thin so we could hear the guy snoring in the room next to ours and people taking showers above us. There was no A/C in the room and during the day it could get a little warm but with the small fan provided and the windows cracked open the nights were fine. All of the negatives were manageable and I will be staying there in the future because it's such a great value for the location and the staff is superb.

centrally located, near bus lines, efficient staff, and a good 7:oo am continental breakfast - clean homey rooms at a good price.

Front desk staff was very nice and helpful. The hotel is near restaurants, BART, buses, cable cars and Union Square shopping. Rooms are small and decor is old, but building is quaint and perfect if you are in town to SEE San Francisco. If you want to hang in your hotel room (and have the money), you can upsize to the Westin, Marriott, etc.

The hotel was close to all of the areas I wanted to visit in San Francisco either by walking or a short trip in car, taxi, or bus. The room was clean and quiet, but don't plan on spending too much time in there. There are only a few TV channels and they wanted to charge $5 to rent a VHS from them! The desk managers were all friendly and helpful. One thing I didn't like was you couldn't park your own car. If you needed it you had to call and wait 10-30 minutes. So if you don't mind that this is an inexpensive and fun area to stay in.
