Good match between ratings I read prior to staying at the hotel and our stay at the hotel. This is Venice, the hotel did not match the hotels in Milan, Rome or Florence for the $s. Would most likely try someplace else next time, but I think it is more Venice then just this hotel.

Breakfast was very disappointing for a 3 star hotel. The range of food available was small, most of it was not fresh and was of a very low quality.

it was a beautiful hotel at a great price! I read that the hotel was redone in 2004; everything looked new but also classy. The breakfast was typical European; nothing special, but adequate. they need to brew "real" coffee though! Our only complaint was the gentleman at the front desk on checking in and out; he was quite grumpy and not too friendly!

We stayed for 4 nights earlier in November and we couldn't have picked a better place. We arrived at the train station and were delighted to find that our hotel was only 2 minutes walk away. The staff were very friendly and helpful giving us advice on boat tours, sights etc. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops all around the hotel and the street is bustling that the hotels is located has a great atmosphere.

It was the first time we stayed at Hotel Belle Epoque. The price for two person/one night € 215,-- is for this accomodation too high and nobody was helping us in the hotel with our luggage. We are not so young and there are steps before you are coming to the elevator.

Really surprised by the quality of this hotel. Great location, so near the train station. Very reasonably priced. Room was lovely, quite small but suited us fine for the three nights. Would stay here again.

Very lovely hotel, with good quality for the price. Concierge was very helpful with early morning water taxi request and dinner suggestion as well. Wish we could have stayed there longer!

The room was huge in comparison to what we were expecting. The bathroom was great too--not some crammed little shower in a closet. This place is quite nice and is located right on a main 'road', a hop from the train station. The guy at the front counter was a bit clammy, and because of the wood floors you could hear the people walking around above you. These are minor things. There is so much to discover in Venice that you won't be spending too much time in your room anyway.

We enjoyed our stay at the Belle Epoque. It's location was very close to the train station, the vaporetto docks, the Grande Canal, and the bridge to cross the Grande Canal. The supposedly grumpy afternoon front desk clerk was very friendly and accomodating if you at least tried to speak a little Italian! The breakfast room was beautiful and the breakfast was very good with lots of variety (but DON'T expect American style breakfast). The room itself was very Italian and elaborate. The bed was comfortable and we both had excellent sleeps there. All of Venice is quite small so everything was very accessable from the hotel, just follow the signs to San Marco or Rialto and other highlights, which are posted a little ways up on the sides of buildings. STAY AWAY from the little restaurant next to the Hotel (pushy, inattentive, and always upselling). We found a great little restaurant a short walk from the Hotel - cross the Ponte Scalzi over the Grande Canal and follow the signs towards the Rialto, just after the Campo San Giacomo dell'Orio (a very large open area) you will find a little restaurant with tables set up along a small canal, food was excellent and the waiters were very good and spoke English.

Very nice hotel. Slight problem with the room not being ready on time but not a big deal. One of the guys behind the desk is exactly like Basil Fawlty - we learnt quickly to laugh off his behaviour and found that he made our holiday more amusing! Venice is expensive but we thought this was a relatively good value place to stay.

Belle Epoque is a nice hotel right on the main street close to the train station, the water taxi station, and a bridge across the Grand Canal. It is a great jumping off point for exploring Venice. Although it is a bit of a distance away from the main part of town, we found that we didn't want to go back to the hotel much anyway. Breakfast was very good and the service staff was more than willing to accomodate an early arrival and an early departure.
