Overall this resort was very nice, the staff was great. The only thing was that wireless internet very seldom worked, and when you plan to do school work while there, well...not good. Also I which they had informed me about the getting a massage, I found out the day before leaving..The massage was grrreat..

We stayed at Legacy for 7 days - - It was absolutely wonderful. The privacy, laidback atmosphere and friendly staff made this vacation perfect! If you're looking to relax on the best beach in San Pedro, this is it! The rooms are very clean, well laid out and their is plenty of room. Cons: Food & drinks are pricey; however, it is an easy walk south to a different resort for great, lower priced food. San Pedro also offers much more affordable dining. There is a 2 burner cooktop in the room, but no oven - but that was not really needed. Be sure to ask for a full-size refrigerator! We had a mini & it was a little tight. Of course, you can always go to San Pedro for a lesser priced meal but transportation can get pricey. $52 roundrip for 2 people by Island Ferry (boat ride is only 15 minutes). The Legacy offers 2-3 trips (free) each day, the last of which goes back to Legacy at 6:30pm. Recommend day trip to Caye Caulker for more laid back, local experience. Also highly recommend Cave Tubing with Carlos Gonzalez (tourguide33@yahoo.com)- - the BEST tour guide ever! Definately contact him for Cave Tubing, Zip Line, and Mayan Ruins excursions. Very highly recommend his knowledge and level of professionalism. We highly recommend staying at Legacy for anyone interested in going to Belize, it is secluded, a true relaxing getaway. Cannot wait to someday go back!

The Good: Beautiful, well-kept grounds. VERY friendly and helpful staff at the resort. Had an awesome stay. I would recommend this place to people, especially couples looking for a romantic get away. Clean, comfortable rooms. Nice pool area and beach. The Bad: A few minor things in the room needed fixing, but this is a very new place and they are still working out the kinks. Their restaurant gets no breeze, so is very hot and stuffy. However, the food is great. This place is located on the north end of the island (20-30 minute boat ride from town), so you are basically stuck there unless you use their very limited shuttle boat or pay for the island ferry. Their dive shop works with Suya Tours. These tours are OK, but make sure you ask lots of questions, because they don't just offer up vital information if you don't ask. EX: They didn't tell us until we arrived at the ruins that we needed bug repellent and what kind to use. Suggestions:: 1) If you want to do trips to ruins, cave tubing, or other things on the mainland: find a room on the mainland for the first few or (better yet) last days of your trip. All the traveling time to do this stuff made for very long, exhausting days. 2) Buy groceries in town to keep some food in your room, especially lots of water. The tap water is very salty and the water you buy from the resort is twice the price. 3) The staff definitely runs on "Belizian time". Don't ever expect them to be on time, but don't count on them always being late.

I went to Belize to look for real estate and fell in love....with this property! Truly an amazing resort. I travel globally on a regular basis and the staff here was best-in-class. From the security team to the bar staff to the chef. These folks took care of us and our needs. We also had a great excursion with a guide named Jody. Ask for him when you schedule a dive or snorkel with the team located on the resort's dock. WHat else can I say? I was travelling with friends, we had 2 connected units on the beach, loved the water, loved the location, loved the resort, loved the people. Oh, and we had a truly lovely dinner (via boat) at another resort called Matachia. The resort sent a boat to get us, and return us. If you need lots of excitement, or wild nightlife this is probably not your destination. The people live simply here. At the hotwl you can have your kitchen stocked by the team at ://ambergriscaye.com/lagniappe/. I'll just say, please keep this travel destination a secret because I want Belize (in general) to be a place with a pace of life slow enough to ride a one-speed bike or drive a golf cart for many, MANY years to come.

This was a great resort to stay at and I am happy to recommend it to others. We talked to many others we meet on this trip who stayed at places like Journey's End, Portifinio's and Victoria House and clearly the Legacy was the best of them all. Our rooms were very clean, plus big with a large bedroom, ample shower and bathroom, a big living room/dinning room combination. The room had all new furniture with a full kitchen including; pots, pans, plates, glasses, silverware, etc. We only ended up having a few snacks and light lunch in our room since the food at both the restaurant and bar were outstanding. (except the steak, if you are accustomed to US beef skip the island version) We did several dives while here. All set up by Suya, although since we were in the off season we used multiple dive shops. Suya handled our first trip to Hol-Chan and Shark Ray alley. This was a fantastic spot. I have been diving for 30 years and this is the most sea life I have seen in one spot. We also dove the Blue Hole with Amigo's dive shop and I would say they had the best staff and service. Their boat driver was great at navigating the high waves (no one got seasick) on the 2 hour ride to the site. We also dove Half Moon Caye and the Aquarium with them. All amazing dives. Did a night dive with Ambergris Divers, the dive site was good but the boat was a clunker, dive master young and impulsive and least professional of the three shops, but for me it was still okay as I don't need much support, just transport. Suya (resort's agent) also set up Maya temple trip, it was GREAT.

The Legacy is definitely in a class of its own. After booking with Travelocity we emailed the hotel about connecting flights to San Pedro and they handled everything. Our original flight was delayed 6 hours and they were still there to meet us and take us to the resort as soon as we landed. I cannot say enough about the staff, they were all wonderful and the most helpful of any resort we have ever stayed at and we have traveled extensively. The resort is gorgeous a little secluded but they do go out of their way to make sure you get where you want to go. The rooms have everything you could need and if you need anything they will get it for you. Suya tours onsight were wonderful all tours we booked with them were great, Lamanai, Caye Caulker and best of all Hol Chan & Shark Ray Alley for snorkeling (not to be missed). They have the best beach and free use of kayaks & paddle boats to get out to the reef if your energetic. Mama's restaurant was very good their specials were always great but the best is the banana pancakes for breakfast. We were worried about being so far from everything but found this was not a problem as getting into town was never a problem. Unfortunately we were there the same time as the mosquitos and even with 100% deet they were nasty but that was a small price to pay for a week in what is truly paradise.

The photos don't do justice. Think beach house rather than hotel room. Brand new suite with a separate bedroom, full kitchen, front deck, clean, tastefully decorated. Small resort off the beaten path. Very romanic get away. Didn't see kids. Make sure to arrange for connecting flight from Belize City to San Pedro on Maya Island or Tropic Air. Little plane, but its a short flight. Don't take the 1 1/2 hour boat ride to San Pedro. Resort sends a taxi to San Pedro airport to pick you up. Ask the driver to stop off at the store to get food. There are NO stores near the resort. Not even for chips or gum. Resort provides unlimited bottled water and coffee for the coffee maker. They will send a boat for your arrival and departure, but other trips to town are based on their schedule and availability. This is not the resort for someone who wants to go to clubs everynight. One couple rented a golf cart for the week, but it is 7.5 miles to town on a slow moving cart on a dirt path. Suya Tours on property was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. They were very nice when we had to cancel a tour due to bad weather and refunded our money. No need to go to town and make arrangements. Use them. Free use of kayaks (loved it), bikes (didn't use them). Nice beach. Reef is 800 yards from beach if you are brave and want to paddle out and snorkle on your own.

relax and enjoy this wonderful piece of heaven. don't worry about asking this resort for a thing, they will accomodate, from a boat ride to san pedro, or cook your fish or lobster that you caught that day. the resort was fully up to par, and everything in order. pleasant knowledable staff, clean rooms daily, servers who take the time to talk and give advice,a scenic bar on the beach, tour hut on the dock, and the view to ah over. went snorkeling to shark ray alley, touched a manta ray,saw sharks and baracuda and lots of colourful fish. many boat rides to town with the resort boat and some with the water taxi also. quiet and peacefull. pool is excellent, the food fantastic, staff were very attentive. wonderful experience, can't wait to return.

We had a wonderful trip! The staff was helpful and friendly - went out of their way to help us with going back and forth to town. Love the privacy and remote feeling, yet w/restaurant on site and another a short walk down the beach. As always, the power goes on and off but they have a backup generator so no problems!! The rooms are beautiful and roomy. The views are unbeatable and the only swimming beach around. The property crosses the island so you can fish in the sea right at the end of the pier and a few steps away on the other side of the island in the "lagoon", the sea between the mainland and the island. Snorkeling at the reef which is the world's second largest is just off the pier, you can paddle over in a kayak or canoe. If you can beat the beach sweeper in the morning there are usually huge conch shells to pick up. What else can I say? Oh yeah, the Katanga Bar with one side on the beach and the other with steps down into the ocean has the best drinks around. Can't wait to return so have booked Thanksgiving!
