A perfect place to stay. The only reason we did not rate it a 5 star was that we had to wait 20 minutes for the valet to retrieve our car; however that was not his fault as they failed to inform us at check-in to anticipate a 20 minute delay to retrieve the car. We had a two bedroom suite that overlooked the lake. Nice, complementary continental breakfast. About a .5 to 1 mile walk to the train, but not bad. I would definitely stay here again!

Room was spacious as well as luxurious . The Continental breakfast was limited. The valet area was very limited.

The lobby of this hotel is stunning--a beautiful example of deco/nouveau. The rooms are on the shabby side. Mine, a suite, had a spectacular view over the lake and the Park. It was wall-to-wall closets--clearly meant for longer term residence, with a full kitchen and dining area. But the bathroom was tiny and shopworn, the bed less comfortable than I'd like, and the upholstery and bed-cover could have used cleaning. Not bad for the price, but not up to the level of the lobby. The continental breakfast provided with my room was the best I've ever had in a hotel--really good pastries, excellent coffee. The location is pretty good--not downtown, but close enough. And one of our party was sent to the sister property because this hotel was oversold. The hotel is nice enough and more centrally located, but at 9 p.m. it's an inconvenience to have to travel extra, even with cab fare provided. Moral: check in early.

I stayed with my children (age ranges 5 to 19 yrs) while in Chicago attending an annual conference. We usually stay downtown Chicago but opted for more room at less price even though we would be little further out. This hotel is literally 5-10 min. from downtown via Lakeshore Drive. The hotel is two streets from Lakeshore so we couldn't have been better off if we had stayed downtown. The suite we had was great. It had two double beds in the bedroom, a pull out sofa and a day bed in an alcove. These were perfect for the teenagers who want a little privacy. We also had a full-sized refrigerator and a dining table that seated 4 so we could feel at home having a meal. The security was great, you have to use your key pass or be buzzed into each area. The only drawbacks I could think of were the pots and pans were worn and the valet parking closes at midnight. If you plan on coming in late, count on parking your own car. Of the four nights we were there I parked myself on the street for two, used valet for one and a paid parking lot around the corner for the other (this was because we got in after midnight). Also, while I was perfectly satisfied with the continental breakfast with coffee, an assortment of danishes and teas, my girls were hoping for some cereal, waffles or eggs.

Convenient location. This wasn't just a hotel room - it was an apartment with a view! The front desk staff was slow.

Service was horrible. They were overbooked and didnt let us stay at their hotel. When I asked how long they'd known, they replied ""Quite awhile"". Keep in mind, this was the manager. I was going to propose and he ruined our whole trip. We were sent to their sister hotal, the seneca, where the service was much more memorable, in a good way.

I was in town for a one-day business trip and my coworker suggested we stay at the Belden because it appeared fit our local travel needs. I was not keen on staying there because of the apartment style setting, but it was only for one-night and served the purpose. All in all it was fine, but I would not stay there in the future.

Location, surprisingly large apartment, and quiet. No room service, not much information on immediate area. I quite liked the Beldon Stratford and would come again. It was a bit shabby around the edges, but I was given a huge apartment, not a room, and it was really comfortable. Location was not too far from the Mag Mile and in a lovely quiet area. Be prepared to walk or cab to city though. Staff was very helpful when I was waiting for my airport pick-up.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The room was awesome. It had the greatest view. The staff was friendly and very helpful in helping us find our way around. I will definatly stay here again. One of the reasons why I fell in love with Chicago.

Location, charm, wonderful room, friendly staff. The Beldon-Stratford is an elegant, old-style hotel that overlooks Lake Michigan and Lincoln Park. Great walking access to Lincoln Park area shopping, restaurants, movies, etc.

Fell in love with this hotel and the helpfulness of the staff. Room was clean , neat with the little extras that make it special. My daughter had the a room that was just totally awesome! - second floor, right over the entrance. The only regret is that I wish I could have stayed longer!. Fell in love with Chicago - a good part due to this hotel!

Excellent trip...the room was enormous...could have stayed there for months if I didn't have to work. Steps away from Lincoln Park zoo.

Great location to reach many sites. It's an older hotel, rooms still need a bit of updating in regards to cosmetics. We loved the location! We were able to cross the street to Lincoln Park Zoo and conservatory, took a short walk to the Apollo theatre for a kids play, and had great food very nearby. The staff was very friendly and helpful. An overall wonderful hotel to stay at!

Old world charm, elegant lobby, lovely, updated rooms. Do not recall one thing that I disliked! Lovely, walkable part of city; easy public transportation access to downtown, Millennium Mile, beautiful view of lake, wonderful zoo across the street, lobby, public areas, breakfast room all elegant and lovely; staff efficient and friendly. Best of all, rooms and apartments well furnished, beautifully decorated and very comfortable; would love tolive there.

I would recommend this hotel to any business person needing to be on the north side of the city in a clean and friendly classy hotel. I would not, however, recommend it to any young couple wanting to see the city. My fiancé and I felt very out of place... The business people staying there looked at us funny and some of the staff did as well. We're huge Cubs fans and that's why we were there and coming and going in our Cubs gear made us look like needles in haystacks! And the one morning we ate breakfast at the hotel, we weren't even greeted!!!!!! All of that aside... The room was about a 2 out of 5. We stayed on the 6th floor and had a great view into another room... Booooo! On top of that the door didn't shut all the way and the bed was like cardboard! The maids were excellent though! We never ran short on towels! The bathroom was tiny and very akward to do makeup in. I don't forsee us staying here on future trips but the price was right!

Quaint. No outside seating area. Enjoyed the quiet/quaint atmosphere!
