We stayed in this hotel for four nights in April 2009. Weather in this month in Beijing changes from mild to hot. The hotel administration did not turn on the centralized air conditioning though it was much needed for comfortable sleep in the night. Later on I heard it is typical of many other local hotels in China. On this account the visitors are cautioned to check whether they provide air conditioning. Apart from this there was construction taking place in the next building it also caused noise at night. Other than this hotel was neat and clean and relatively newer interior. The price was also reasonable.

the hotel was in the dongcheng distritct also known as "ghost" district due to the abundance of red lanterns hanging from restaurants. the hotel reaked of cigarette smoke. be sure to request a non-smoking room. some confusion over whether my breakfast was complementary or not; some mornings restaurant staff requested that i sign as breakfast wasn't comp. however, other days i didn't sign. amenities galore and chocolate at night. hotel is huge and comfortable. not much to complain about. i would stay there again.

This may have been a four star hotel 15 years ago, but other than the lobby area, the rooms are in need of deep cleaning and repair. We changed rooms halfway through our stay hoping for an improvement, but the second room was as bad as the first. The reception did not understand that the room was prepaid through Travel agency and we had to pay a deposit until we requested Travel agency to send a fax confirming that we had prepaid.
