Tired but still value for moneyThe main areas of the hotel does look rather tired and would benefit from a bit of a brush up., and the circa 1960's architecture is not the most pleasing to the eye. The layout of floors provides a warm up for anyone down at the Lakes for a walking tour - lots of up and down stairs. That said the location over looking Windermere is stunning even on a rainy day, and whilst you do need a car, its position to Bowness on Windermere, Lakeside etc is just right. The food in the restaurant was very good and priced accordingly, and the staff more than welcome and helpful.

Location, location, locationTruly superb location, with patio outside bedroom, overlooking lake and getting afternoon sun. The dining room and lounge/ bar have a similar panorama of lake and mountains. Very quiet, we could hear the gentle lapping of water on the edge of the lake. Room comfortable, a bit "old", but we didn't mind that. You have to do stairs, though, the whole place is terraced on a hillside with internal stairs between each corridor of rooms. Good buffet breakfast, with efficient and polite staff.

It was really great stay. The hotel is on a guite busy road so my first reaction was "Oh my God..." but it is really guiet and peaceful there. The views are really fantastic too.Take more bread with you as birds are really hungry there. And they come right to your door!!!

Relax and Enjoy the viewWe chose the Beech Hill Hotel as we wanted somewhere quiet, relaxing and with a view to sink in to. As soon as we arrived we were shown to our room which we found had been upgraded without even asking, a nice surprise. This hotel was ideal for what we were looking for, somewhere tranquil, stunning view from the terrace out on to the lake, gorgeous food, a real treat. The hotel is only a short car/taxi ride in to Bowness(approx 5-10 mins) where we could enjoy bars and restaraunts. Surprisingly, the bar was not over priced which we had perhaps, unfairly, anticipated. Therefore, any time we wanted to stay in we could relax and enjoy drinks on tne terrace without watching the pennies! Highly recommended if you want to treat yourself. We were lucky enough to visit during the scorching weather but whatever the weather the Beech Hill Hotel and surrounding area can be enjoyed by everyone.

Fantastic Hotel StayI loved this hotel. We had room 10 and it had a four poster bed and overlooked the Windermere Lake. The views were amazing. The pool area is free to use and was delightful.We ordered room service and it was of a high quality.The customer service was great.We tried to stay an extra night but they were booked out.Breakfast was lovely with some dishes 'cooked to order'.The restaurant has a dress code - no jeans - hence the room service. The clientele were fairly old people.

Just a one night stay but the room was superb, recently refurbished, very well appointed with large leather settee, which was actually a sofa bed if needed, large french windows and balcony with lake view. Only slight downside was plumbing from ajoining rooms was a bit noisy. Excellent value for money and well exceeded expectaions.

worst quality room I've stayed in for this money and supposed ratingThis is my opinion – this was the worst room I have stayed in whilst in a hotel of this size and stated rating. The corridor to room smelled damp; carpet was frayed and wall-paper had been torn and was hanging-off on a corner. Room was of similar low standard, it also smelled damp, the carpet was old and in places dirty and furnishings were badly frayed and discoloured. The room was in need of decoration; the wall paper had been patched and was marked in several areas (including a squashed fly). The ceiling was uneven and also looked like it had been repaired; it had sagged around the joists. From a health and safety perspective, the sink was cracked, a floor tile was cracked, the bath was unsealed and as a result water could drain down the wall; the metal door threshold had a screw missing and was proud resulting in a snagging hazard. In my opinion, the hot water taps should have had warning signs adjacent to them as water temperature was near scolding. There was mold on the shower door. This was literally the noisiest room I have ever stayed in; when the upstairs occupant crossed the floor it creaked like a sinking galleon. It reminded me of a cheap B&B I stayed in, which had not been refurbished for a long time. I was asked to pay in full up-front (cash), which in hindsight I regret as I only stayed one night as the low quality of room was depressing. Friends had their wedding Reception here and rated it highly, I can only assume I experienced the other end of the spectrum in quality. I think the management have an audacity to expect people to pay for this poor quality and only regret I didn’t ask for a refund. Very poor hotel masquerading as a quality establishment in my opinion.

excellent view good staff facilities greathotel showing its age a little but arnt we all some rooms we looked at through the windows at ground level were not up to much but our room 54 was fine food was well presented and of a very good standard service was second to none

excellent breakWe booked this hotel due to the fantastic location being right next to Windermere, but with us booking the standard double, we only expected a small basic room, but when we saw our room, it was outstanding, worth way more than the laterooms price we had paid. It was laid out beautifully and the decor was so 'posh', and the bathroom as like a room it itself, as big as my lounge back home. All in all, the customer service, the quality of the room and the views made this the best short break we have ever had

We have used this hotel group before so we thought we had an idea of the standard we could expect. On arrival we were given room 4. It was small, in need of refurbishment, furniture was scratched / damaged, wall paper peeling off in places. We complained and were moved to an upgraded room for our second night (because the hotel was full on our first night). This was very good. It had been updated, was bigger and more in line with what we expected. The public rooms are OK. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and the views from the rooms are wonderfull but the view did not make up for the condition of the first room. If I could guarantee a room that has been refurbished I would stay here again.

Mixed bagOld style comfort but few mod cons - no internet, no shelves in the bathroom and no fridge with drinks in room; but tea and coffee making facilities and glorious view of lake . Delightfully quiet but 4 flights of steps to breakfast every morning. Friendly staff and good food in restaurant. Would probably return , particularly if prices more reasonable outside peak times.

Mid week breakVery nice friendly hotel offering lovely views of the lake from almost all of the rooms. Good choice of hot and cold food for breakfast, and evening meals in the restaurant of a very high standard and piping hot.The only minor issue was the sound of heavy footsteps from the floor above, carrying on until late in the evening.

Beech Hill Hotel stayWe would like to say a very big thankyou to all the staff at The Beech Hill Hotel for making our 25th Wedding Anniversary celebration such a wonderful & pleasant stay. On arrival we were greeted and congratulated by the receptionist and informed that as it was our Silver Anniversary that our room had been upgraded free of charge, she was very pleasant and friendly. The room was lovely, clean and inviting. The view of the lake was absolutely stunning. Compliments to the Chefs and waiter/ess as the food and the service was excellent, any request was dealt with immediately and without any fuss. There was even a complimentary card on our dining table from all the staff, congratulating us on our 25th Anniversary, which made it seem very special. The only critical comment we could make would be that the corridor from the car park could do with a bit of TLC. where guest's luggage etc had damaged the wallpaper & paintwork. Many thanks again to all staff. We would definitely stay again in the future. Graham & Angie

An ideal location for a relaxing breakThe lake view was an important part of our break. To just walk out of the patio doors and down to the lake was so nice.The meals at night in the restaurant were lovely but quite expensive. The service from the staff was excellent. You were made to feel very welcome and treated well.The bathroom was very clean and the rooms were well kept.The swimming pool was really nice, well kept and clean - very relaxing

I would always prefer to stay here when I am in this area, as ever the welcome was warm, check in efficient and receptionist changed my room readily to avoid me having to climb too many stairs. I used the pool and solarium before having a delicious meal and retiring to a very comfortable, cosy room. I look forward to my next stay!
