Definitely a one star at best. Old hotel with worn down appearance but fresh paint in room. Our room was on the street and it was noisy even with the with windows closed until about 3 AM. There was fuzz / dirt hanging from the ceiling and bathroom faucet was falling apart (even with all of the coats of paint trying to hold it together). Shower was a small trickle not a shower.... Great location downtown, and Victoria is a great place but I would not recommend this hotel.

I expected this hotel to be nicer than what we got. The lobby and indeed both rooms we had were bizarre. Front desk staff was nice. Our first room appeared to be designed as an annex for the next room over if those people wanted two beds. It was extremely small, and after 2 hours with the heat on it was still 19 degrees C (brrrr). We asked for a room with heat and they gave us a "double upgrade" to the room layout another reviewer mentioned (the one with the strange bathroom, though to be honest our first bathroom was strange as well). This room had a tub with jets, which was about the only good feature i can name. The rest of the experience was just okay. At one point we sat on the bed and a side table fell off the wall, and the bed itself was uncomfortable. This hotel wasn't horrible, but my suggestion would be to keep looking...

The Bedford was well situated in downtown Victoria. It is conveniently located about four blocks from the Harbour. We didn't bring our car, so this made it easy for us to access all the shopping and other activities Victoria offers. Our room was smaller than the typical hotel room found in the USA, but adequate for my husband and I. It was very clean. The two windows did not open, there was not a fire extinguisher in the room, and there weren't any sprinklers. The elevator was not working while we were there, but we stayed on the second floor and did not mind taking the stairs. Our biggest complaint was the music from a neighboring club that kept us up until 3 am on Saturday night. The thin walls allowed us to hear a neighbor phone the front desk and determine that the music would continue until 4 am. We fell asleep around 3, so we're not sure how long the music actually continued. The staff was friendly and allowed us to check our bags after we checked out so we did not have to bring them with us while we waited for our ferry.

The location of this hotel was excellent--very central and close to everything. Our room had a very bizarre layout. The bathroom in our room was especially unusual. The tub and sink were separated from the bedroom by a moving screen, but the toilet itself was in a small, separate room. If you are claustrophobic or a large person, you would be very uncomfortable using the toilet. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and difficult to sleep on. My boyfriend's back really hurt the next day. The room was clean and the service was fine, but it was really expensive for what we got.

The Bedford Regency was very quaint. The room was small but the bed was very comfortable. It's not a new hotel but it was clean. Small bathroom but again clean and for the price it was very decent. The location was great -- downtown Victoria on Government Street so very central to great restaurants (so no problem that the hotel did not have its own restaurant).

Stayed here for 2 nights - excellent location in the inner harbour. We were with walking distance to pretty much everything we wanted to see. Our room was very large & comfortable. The parking was a little hard to find but safe & secure. Breakfast in the hotel was cheap & quick. Would definetley stay here again.

Location made it easy to pop in & out. Room was VERY small, but we had an inner room so it was very quiet. My hairdryer blew the fuse each time I used it, but it was fixed quickly. They advertise internet, but the connection is slower than the first dial-up. A good price for a good location. We'd stay there again.

The decor isn't great, the rooms are just okay. If you can get a good deal on it, it's worth it if only for the location. The location is unbeatable, right in the center of everything. However, DO NOT eat breakfast there. It might be the worst breakfast we've ever eaten!

"Very good value for the money, great location. Our deluxe 2-queen room was spacious, pleasant, and quiet (except for street noise at night, but we WERE downtown after all). Desk clerks went out of their way to find info for my pal and me. I'd return, for sure."

"This hotel was noisy, had windows that didn't lock, no hot water, no water pressure, dirty sheets, and the dining room's dishes were ALL dirty - lipstick stains and all!!! The travellodge was the same price and was much much better."

"The room was clean, beds comfortable. The curtains did not block out the light. The room was *very* hot and we had to open the windows and run the air conditioner to keep it a bearable temperature. The air conditioner sound drowned out the street noise. There was no hot water. The night desk attendant was very nice, apologetic, and helpful with info about the area. The daytime staff was rude and indifferent. Breakfast service was slow; we received the wrong food and wrong check twice each. Better maintenance and management would make this a wonderful boutique hotel."

"This hotel has a great location-- 2 blocks from Inner Harbor, right in the middle of downtown. Large attractive room-- flower boxes on all of our windows. Very pleasant and attentive staff. For the price, a great value."

"The hotel is only a few blocks from the Inner Harbour; a really great location. The room was clean, the beds comfortable and furnished with down quilts and pillows. Our room overlooked the street which was very noisy, especially at night - with the late night bar crowd and in the early morning with truck and car traffic. Some of the front desk staff were not very friendly. Murchies is right next door; great sandwiches and pastries. For the price this simple hotel is a good find, just pack some earplugs. "
