Post RefurbishmentObviously targeting a different market, gone is the v. large TV screen, pool table and people to be replaced with a much quieter, piped music atmosphere and a much better selection of bar meals.

BeauchiefI decided to stay here instead of Premier Inns because it was nearer to my daughter. In future I will travel the extra distance from Chesterfield. The bed was not as comfortable, but it was nice to wake up to the sound of the stream outside my window. Unfortunately I have trouble walking, and I assumed there would be a lift to the first floor or some manageable stairs,as the hotel was three stars. There was neither. The stairs were rather steep, and I had great difficulty in bringing my luggage downstairs at the end of my stay. The receptionist did help when I arrived. A hotel ideal for buisiness men, not ladies who are on their own and use a stick.

Review of the Beuchief Hotel Sheffield.I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past and have always been very satisfied with it. It is set in a very pleasant location which feels quite rural in spite of the city centre being within easy reach. The hotel is modern and well maintained and the rooms have a spacious feel to them. The staff are friendly and helpful and the restaurant is a very nice place to dine with good food and excellent service. I shall certainly be returning.

Rooms (yes, plural) smell of smoke. Some carpets are threadbare. Faded grandeur? Look, it's a big, old, friendly place and the staff, by and large, are particularly good and very helpful. That's why I go back: alone and with colleagues. Nevertheless I think that the hotel needs to establish whether it's an £85 per night hotel, in which case - frankly - it's nowhere near presentable enough (you'd also need a wider menu and at least SOME restaurant staff training: friendly they are; silver service they are not) OR whether it's a £60 per night hotel, in which case it's perfectly fine. Overall actually quite good, but small things let it down.

Despite the service and food both being excellent I wouldn't stay at the Beauchief again unless the internet connection was improved. The wireless network did not reach my room so I had to sit in the reception area to do some important business. Even in the reception area (where the signal is supposedly best), the connection was very poor and I had difficulty downloading and sending important documents. My ground floor room (120) smelled damp but I had already moved rooms once because my TV didn't work and couldn't face another move.

we found the carpet threadbare, not many channels on the tv -no channel 5 ect. the taps in bathroom were very hard to turn as I have arthritic fingers my husband also had problems and he does not . the toilet seat was broken ;reception said the would get the engineer to fix it. when we used it again it completely broke and I suffered a 2 inch cut on the right side of my bottom -the toilet seat had been glued!!! the reception area looked looked excellent . Return comments about these problems would be appreciated. The adverts for this hotel implied that breakfast was included and in small print on reservation was not.the staff were wonderful

A really pleasant stay at a very grand looking hotel but with a very reasonable price.Good service and an excellent, large and clean room.Would definitely stay there again.

My main criticism of the hotel was the check out time which was 10a.m. on a weekday which I felt was rather early. It was possible to ask for a later check out but there would have been a charge for this according to the information book in the bed room. The carpet in my room needed replacing as it was showing signs of wear. Problems with cold water taps in bedroom in both wash basin and shower.Having said this the hotel had a welcoming atmosphere and the staff particularly in the restaurant were excellent.

Our room was not fully serviced on Sunday. The bathroom was cleaned, but the beds were left unmade, the room had not been cleaned nor tidied. The room was too hot, but we were unable to open the window as we could not get the key in the lock. The room maid had obviously tried it on the Sunday and got the key stuck in the lock with the window open. We managed to close and relock with difficulty.

New owners have started a programme of refurbishment and the public areas are completed. The room was clean and comfortable, with good beds and duvets, fully tiled bathroom and plentiful hot water. The restaurant was of reasonable standard, with large portions of well cooked food, but staff were inexperienced. However, the new owner was in attendance, and made several visits to the table to check on the service. We had the impression that they are trying hard to please and that things will continue to improve.

the wild duck spring rolls starter and the rosemary lamb main course in the restaurant was the tastiest food i have tasted in a long time. All the staff were helpful and friendly and me and my wife had a very pleasent stay in a lovely setting. We will be staying here the next time we can get a babysitter overnight!

Hotel has just completed a 'make-over' of their public areas and it looks good! The big TV with the continuous (loud) music channel and pool table have gone. They are obviously targetting a different clientelle. Rooms are a good size and always clean.
