We went over for our 5th anniversary, my self and my wife, we enjoyed our stay in this Hotel, Beach Hotel. We are planning another visit soon, this time we are coming with the children, the staff is friendly the breakfast was excellent, the room nice and clean.
Date of Stay:
July, 2008
The bedding was in bad condition... Hot water was almost cold, or lukewarm at best. The location of this hotel, the beachfront, has now become an area of safety concern to all whom we meet there as tourists. All the cab / taxi drivers advised us to stay indoors during the evening and night hours.

A good establishment however maintenance needs to be beefed up. Some lights and fittings dont work well. Plumbing and showers should also be maintained.

Basic, clean well priced hotel in a great position on the Beach front Made even better by the great staff. As usual a great stay

Very god value. The hotel is a little tired on the decor front but the price reflects that. Everything very clean and the staff were very willing and friendly. Fantastic view from the room.. Very good breakfast. Would happily go back

The hotel is right at the beach, just cross the street and you are on the sand at the sea side. Great location, also other restaurants around and not too far from the tourist info either. Not the most exclusive hotel, but the room and bathroom were very decent and the price is also good!

I must admit with the pricing I was not expecting what I got. The hotel was good for its pricing and the buffet breakfast included was excellent. I will definately go there if I have to go to Durban.

I hosted my mission team there in nov 2008 after an intensive works inland .Well it was great the morning breakfast at this hotel. the staffs were great at giving advises. I have no complain. My entire group were so happy about this hotel

we enjoyed our stay except that the parking was terrible. on our first night they had no parking, and the lifts in the parking dont work so we had to walk up the parking driveway and on the road to get back to the hotel, which was dangerous especially if you were going out and coming back in the early hours of the morning

We cannot complain about anything. the waiters on the front stoop restaurant was very frendly and chirpy. The rooms were clean. The front desk staff very helpfull. My parents always used to stay in the Beach Hotel whenever whe used to go on holiday in Durban,(Some 50 odd year ago) so there was a lot of memories. Recommend The Beach Hotel and will stay there again.

The hotel took me straight back to our family's holidays in the 70s. Strangely plastered walls and ceilings, huge rooms but arbitrarily designed and 70s furnishings. Not enough plugs (those they had kept tripping because of the high electrical load. That said, the staff were pleasant and when I asked for something they delivered efficiently. All that said:R300 a single for bed and breakfast and a seafcing room...not bad at all!

There is need to finalise the renovations that are taking place. The hotel offers very good breakfast. Our stay was fairly comfortable. While it is not a real requirement for a 3 star hotel to have a fridge, we suggest that management looks into this as a means of improving the facilities.

The loaction of the hotel is poor, its in a dangerous area & guests are advised not to go out after 5pm, due to crime, so you're basically locked in your hotel. The parking (which smells) is an extra charge per day, but there is minimal street parking (which is unsafe) so you are forced to pay to park underground. The hotel only provides breakfast internally (lovely full breakfast), but for other meals there is a restaurant (flashy lights a'la Vegas) on the exterior of the building. Its loud with heaps of people on the side walk trying to sell you stuff. You have the constant feeling of being at risk. The ONLY benefit of the location of this hotel is that it is fairly near to Ushaka Marine World (amazing!!) We also put a "do not disturb" sign on our room to limit access to the room, but they still came in to clean the room. We were told not to leave valuables etc. so had to leave laptops locked in the car. We felt nervous the whole time. Its a pity about the location.

Hotel had obviously once been upmarket but now in great need of updating. Not very clean & even bedding was old & not very fresh looking. Not an area to go out at night & slightly uncomfortable during day. However staff quite helpful. Wouldnt stay here again.

There is not enough safe parking for the hotel residence.
