The room had a horrible smell. We turned on the air conditioner and left for a couple hours thinking that would alleviate the smell. When we came back it was even worse. The staff came and verified the stench and put us a different room as we requested. The mattresses seemed old and worn out and in need of replacement. The location was somewhat remote and not easily accesible from the highway. The continental breakfast was very good with hot and cold food items.

The rooms were cldean, the staff was a little unprofessional. Lots of hoodlum looking guys hanging around in the lobby for no apparent reason. We did not feel totally safe.

I had trouble finding this hotel in the dark. The person at the front desk guided me through by cell phone. The room was comfortable. The panel television was great. It was a good value for the money.

Continental breakfast featured warm sausage patties as well as full compliment of breakfast items. Overall the hotel is slightly underrated at 2 stars; it is very clean; carpets are either very new or are very well maintained. The amenities (2 heated spas, pool and an exercise room) are also clean and well maintained. Besides wireless internet throughout the hotel, Baymont has a desktop computer so you can surf the internet or check your email. (Nice for us travelers who are tired of lugging laptops through airport security.) The lobby area is a little small but the staff is friendly and helpful. If your razor is dull or airport security confiscated your shaving gel, Baymont will provide you with a free razor and shaving gel. Coffee is available 24/7 in the lobby. The continental breakfast is similar to those at most hotels but Baymont also features warm sausage patties to add a little protein to the usual lineup of carbohydrate foods. The third floor doesn't have an ice maker so you have to get on an elevator and use the 2nd or 1st floor ice machine. One bonus to being a ways from the airport and interstates is the noise level or lack of it. Once you reach the desired temperature of your room (with a low fan speed) the rooms are very quiet. There can be something romantic about a room when you can't hear interstate traffic all night to spoil your tryst.

We stayed here the night before our flight out of the Des Moines area. The closest restaurants or shopping areas are about 3 miles away. The rooms are clean and VERY large, but the beds & pillows are quite flat and hard. The internet connection didn't work - it kept timing out. The exercise area and pool are larger than those typically found in hotels and the game room is a nice added touch. Instead of an airport shuttle, they actually call a cab and reimburse you.

Excellent breakfast room and friendly staff. Non-smoking room smelled like a converted smoking room. Well maintained hotel inside and out. Nice pool with hot tub, game room, and exercise room. Exceptional breakfast bar with hot food.

I found this hotel through the web site and was thrilled with the excellent staff and facility. We stayed there for business where we found the internet free and high speed. The rooms are larger than average hotel rooms. The breakfast is fabulous, variety of items to choose from for your personal enjoyment. I would strongly recommend this facility to anyone that is flying out of the airport in Des Moines or has business on the south or west side of the city. Although, it only takes minutes to get anywhere in Des Moines from this hotel, wonderful experience!

I did not like this hotel. We arrived at the hotel exhausted after a day at the Iowa state fair. Layed on the bed and felt crumbs on our bed spread. Ew! Then our toilet backed up. I called for room service for pillows extra blankets and to tell the toilet won't flush after an hour of waiting my husband went to the front desk and they told him that they did not have any more in stock? Did they not know where we were? Anyway. The mattress are small and have stains all over them. The pool area is nice.

It is a convenient location. Great Pool and Exercise Room. It is the best. Has a great breakfast offered with a good selection of cereals, rolls, donuts, muffins, juices and coffee.
