We vacationed at the Barcelo Maya Palace during March 2009. Upon arriving at the hotel check-in was easy and a welcoming drink was provided. The room decor was very nice, service was excellent, and the adult pool was very relaxing with a fantastic bartender. We had a good experience at the Rodizio (Brazilian) and Caribe (Carribean). The buffets were very good, especially omelets for breakfast. The snorkeling was fantastic. The only negative was having to leave!!!

Wide arrangement of activities to easily spend the entire time there without leaving the hotel. Very quiet and relaxing. Restaurant times are convienent so you are not required to be anywhere at any particular time. Great beachfront. I would like to take the children with next time - they would really enjoy it too. The only thing negative I can find is that the buffet food wasn't as warm as it could be. Excellent variety and great food - but warm stuff wasn't that warm.

The hotel was more than I ever expected. Service and food was wonderful. The hotel and grounds were so relaxing and pleasant. I was able to be around others if I wanted to socialize, but could also get away for private time to read or relax. The drinks were great, the food was never ending and fine dining in the specialty restaurants. I was there in October for my son's wedding and hope to return this spring again just to relax.

Great for adults and kids... going for the third time ... i have recommeded this wonderful place to all my family and friends.Don't think about to much just go and enjoy for a great price.

We got a deal last year on this hotel. It is the newer part of a very large complex. We had access to the whole resort and could eat and drink at any of the hotels restaurants. Beach is great and snorkeling was also very nice at this location. Rooms were beautiful. The staff could have been a little more friendly. It could be hard to get a drink. Different wait staff every day because they are so large of a resort. You could tip to try to get better service but would never get the same person so it didn't do any good.

We stayed here when the resort had just been open for about six weeks. It is a very opulent place with fantastic local art and furniture. The food is amazing and the ala cart restaurants are second to none. There is so much variety here its hard to know where to start. Service is impeccable from the front desk to the restaurants to the room service. The rooms are luxurious and have such a beautiful balance of comfort and square footage. There is a cove at the main beach area that has limited exposure to the currents and waves so swimming is a real pleasure. If you're lucky a sea turtle will show up as you're swimming among the hundreds of tropical fish. For families this is also a great place. There is so much for the kids to do outside of the kids area. There is a special pool area for the kids. Air hockey, foosball, basket ball, volleyball, swimming, etc. The kids area called Barcy's has big screen TV's, xbox, wii, and scheduled activities with full-time staff (our kids called it "jail" because there was so much to do outside). And then there is the beach... oh the beach!! We've been to alot of places in the carribean but the Barcelo Maya Palace leaves them all far behind!

This place is far above what we expected. we have stayed all over on both coast of mexico and the Barcelo is the best. the grounds are kept very good and clean.

i thought the barcelo hotel was such a nice place. every one was nice, polite, and the food was grate. i would recomend this place to anyone who wants a good time in mexico!
