We stayed at Barcelo Langosta from June 28 to July 4th 2009. It was a great location. It was about a 20-25 minute walk, or a $5.oo cab ride which was a five minute drive. The staff were very friendly there. The front desk was very helpful. All front desk staff were able to speak English and Spanish. I called housekeeping from our room once and discovered that they only spoke Spanish which could be difficult for some, but I suppose you could always call the front desk if you needed something and they would be able to interpret your needs for you. The food was okay. It seemed like everything was always generally the same. Fresh pineapple, canteloupe, watermelon and papaya everyday which was wonderful. The same cheese and meat trays everyday for every meal, and then varieties of hot food which was themed by country daily. The restaurant service was sort of hit and miss. Although gratuitiues are included, sometimes I felt that the servers were annoyed when all we ordered to drink was water instead of alchohol. As a server I did leave a tip after every meal, but sometimes felt obligated to because I felt like the staff expeced it. It is hard to say though as I am in the service industry so the professionalism of service and service quality or lack of are very noticible to me as they may not be to others who aren't in the industry. Either way it is good to leave a gratuity after every meal. Although they are included in the resort package, a few USD go a long way in Costa Rica when compared to Western standards. Especially since minumum wage down there is approximately $2 USD. The hotel provided a wonderful travel/tour agent at the hotel. Her name was [...] and she was incredibly helpful to us. She went out of her way to help us plan our own trip and scout out the best deals for car rentals etc. She gave us very good advice and was very honest. We rented a car and drove out to the Arenal Volcano which is a must see. It is one of the worlds most active volcanoes and we wat

Not a "lay on the beach" destination; your enjoyment will be relative to your expectations, which should be that you are in a third-world country, and the main activities are eco-related and active. Humid weather, but what do you expect in Costa Rica in late June? Rainy season will limit activities to the first half of the day, but it gets wetter the closer you get to September. My son and I were there late June, and had an awesome time. Ladies wanting to be pampered may not find it as fun as we did.

The hotel staff very friendly, from the front desk to the service personell. The hotel was very clean, extremely nature friendly, incredible landscape and animal world. The meals were very good, incredible variety and totally satiesfied with the quality of all the food components plus incredible desert dishes. The temperature control of the dishes was not so good but it was a minor issue. The drinks offered are very good. The entertainment program was nice, pool activities and beach activities. The staff works very hard and is very helpful and friendly. The request were taken care of withing a short time. In all, the hotel was perfekt and we would return to it without thinking twice.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights. We were booked in the new buildings which are amazing, two story rooms w, tile floors huge master bath with Jacuzzi tube. The food is a bit repetitive because it is buffet style every meal. However the food in Tamarindo is very expensive so we defintly ate our money's worth. The location is not bad especially if you surf, Playa Langosta is a great spot and there are several great spots within 10 minutes. Our only disappointment was the staff, they are not very helpful. On the last day we had no water pressure, we called the front desk and their response was O.K. click. Nothing was ever done. we really enjoyed our time here and are looking forward to going back soon

Kind and curtious staff made our visit very delightful. Food quality was very good and a nice variety. Comfortable rooms, clean and well maintained. Plenty of activity for you to take in.Very very scenic, cool waves and the best sunsets I've seen. Quiet and relaxing, close to town for some interesting shopping and fun. I recommend a visit.

- We loved the resort (5 minutes from Tamarindo - surfers paradise). Our greatest worry is always the condition of the rooms and where they are facing. We were pleasantly surprised with our room, and even had some ocean view from the balcony. - The hotel had live entertainment close to the pool in the afternoon which was relaxing. Salsa, merengue... and a fruit cocktail in hand... the real vacation feeling! - The animators really tried hard with daily activities then put on some great evening shows. Do not miss the evening entertainment! - The gardens were beautifully landscaped so we enjoyed walking through them on the way to the main part of the hotel - The service in the restaurant was also exceptional even though after a few days the food lacked in variety - the hotel has a nice well equippt gym (air conditioned)and spa - They have 3 companies on site (behind the reception area) where you can book day trips to the Rainforest, Arenal volcano, Zip lining or boat rides. We alternated our days with a tour on one day, and pool/beach relaxation the next, as the tours can be long and tiring. ALL in ALL, we really enjoyed our 10 day stay at Barcelo, and Costa Rica as a whole, and are planning on going back with friends. PURA VIDA !!!

My sister and I who are in our sixties and her two boys in their twenties spent five days at this hotel. The setting and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Our room was comfortable and very clean with pillow top beds and great air conditioning. The pool is beautiful, but kind of hot. The best thing was the food -- very typical Costa Rican but with a wide variety every day and beautifully prepared and presented. We liked the white wine, but the red was a little rough and also cold. We were very pleased with the variety of activities for all our ages. One day we went to beautiful Playa Conchal north of Tamarindo for beautiful clear water and snorkeling. The boys did a zip line canopy tour and scuba diving. My sister and I enjoyed walking along the beach to Tamarindo and exploring the town. It was a wonderful vacation and I would recommend Barcelo Langosta Beach to anyone.

After they didn't get me my first wake up call they compounded that by not doing the second one either. My a/c did not work in the room, and there was a constant leak coming from the light fixture above the bathroom sink while I was trying to shave or anything at that sink.If you didn't get there early enough all lounge chairs and towels were taken. The main desk staff didn't act like they cared, but the rest of the staff were good.I will not return to this hotel.

We came here on our honeymoon. Barcelo is a good value on a beautiful beach. It is what it is though. If you are looking for a posh vacation this is not for you. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and most spoke English. The property is at the mouth of an estuary on the pacific which is beautiful but not the best for swimming due to the rip currents. It is a good surfing area if you are into that. My biggest complaint was the food. It was not bad-we ate there daily. It was redundant and sufficiant. Not bad but not great. We went in March which is the dry season. It was hot but there was no humidity and a good sea breeze. We did a tour with Off Road Costa Rica and loved it. Lola's on Playa Avellenas was memorable. We had a great time.

I just came back from the Barcelo. It is a small resort that was clean and the food was good. Nothing great but every day you could find something you like. As for the resort,, the staff was not very helpful or friendly except the woman who helped us plan an excursion to Monteverde. If the staff doesnt understand your english, they just yes you. The place is small and mostly a senior crown (50+ _ or families, if you are into whooping it up, the Barcelo is NOT for you. The activities were lame , coffee bingo was a big event if you get my drift. The resort is on the ocean however thebeach is all public so you couldnt bring your stuff down to the beach safely and there was no night access. Trips to town are 5 per cab and although there is public transportation, the staff is not helpful is giving access. I would go back to the area whic his beautiful but unless all you want to do is eat and lounge by a pool, the Barcelo is not the place to experience Costa Rica

This hotel was spotless! The hotel is away from the town which is a great thing, the town is dusty and dirty. Tamerindo beach is dirty. But the resort beach was beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful. A couple of times we didn't have towels or enough towels, but once we reported it ot the desk they were brought. The food was great pleant of choices very tasty the only thing I really missed was milk. They offer activities around the pool area all day, and music playing. Ther eare plenty of off site adventures to do price is always negotiable.i would recommend this place unless you are always used to being waited on hand and foot.

We had a great time at this resort. The property is well maintained and the staff was excellent. The food was very good with a wide selection at all meals. The "Animation Team" provides daily activities and nightly shows. We would certainly return to this resort.

We had the best time ever in Costa Rica. Everything was really good. The food, the people, the service, the entertainment, and the beach. A wonderful variety of food. The music was awesome. Don't be afraid to try this place, we highly recommend this resort.

the langosta beach hotel was very comfortalble, good size room with comfortable chairs and a balcony overlooking the garndens.i liked the bathroom was separete from the vanity area.they provided large towels and bathrobes.the hotel location was very poor .dirt unmarked roads that are poorly maintained .it was difficult to get directions and find the hotel.what helps the hotel is that is has almost one of the best large semiprivate beatiful beach with the most magnifecent sunsets.they have a young group of people running the entertaiment and they work very hard at putting good shows.they also have a live band playing everyday during lunch an dinner times.the food was exellent.plenty of choices,a snack bar is available.restaurant closes at 10 pm.

Barcello Langosta is a great place to stay, with good service and the food was buffet style and a little boring but with eneough verity to keep it some what interesting. The rooms were large, clean, and the hotel staff was courteous. The beer was always cold but the drinks were so,so. Bring your own plastic cup because the drinks are served in a wax cup and tended to blend into what you were drinking. Probably a disposal issue. We drove from the airport and eveything went well. Be sure and check your car over before you leave because when you return the check it with a microscope.Check under the car and also the hood.

"I liked this hotel because the grounds were immaculate, the pool was wonderful and the layout superb. The air conditioning worked only one night and was kind of uncomfortable with the humidity. But overall, I would definately stay here again."

I've stayed at several All-Inclusives, including the Barcello near Tambor a few hrs south. It was rated & it was a 4-star. This hotel was rated a 4-star & was a 2-3 star. The room was avg & worn. Maid did not clean well. My 18 yr daughter & I shared a room. Everyday we were left with 1 towel, 1 hand towel & 1 face cloth. Everyday I called for more! Our friends A/C made a terrible racket, they had to turn it off at night to sleep. There was no separate A la carte restaurant, it was merely a few tables set aside off the main buffet area. It offered only a few items on the menu. The liquor tasted like rot gut. We had to buy our own down the street! You know it's bad when 18 yr olds won't drink it! The fitness centre was an area outdoors under a canopied shelter. It was non-useable, because it was all rusted and wires broken! It was a joke, yet they still advertise it in their brochures! Food was average & repetitive. We were told to take a Taxi to town, it was not safe to walk. The area is over built, & more bldg happening. The beach was nice. Pool was small. Not alot to do. The girls took surfing lessons from a shop in town & had fun. The Casino was tiny & filled with smoke quickly. Our stay was ok. If you are looking for a 4 star keep looking.
