The resort and the staff were just fabulous. We had a wonderful time. Didn't have any problems getting reservations in the restaurants and the buffet was always something different. Nightly entertainment was also great. Very talented dancers. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone. The only problem we had was getting any upgrades for our anniversary. We didn't ask for much but they asked us to pay for everything. Ended up paying for a late check out. But all in all we had a very nice stay at the resort.

My husband and I had stayed at this resort (under different management) 5 years ago and loved it. I checked the reviews in advance to make sure that the management change didn't mean a quality change. The place was just as wonderful as it was the first time. The rooms are gorgeous and very comfortable (as well as quiet). The outdoor activities are wonderful whether you want to play or lounge by the pool. The restaurants are great and the timing for meals is perfect for those who eat late (like us) or early. Everyone is very helpful and friendly. We went scuba diving from Chico's outlet in the resort (I held an octopus and a seahorse in my hands!) and did some outside excursions. We cannot wait to stay again.

Landscaping. Loud music from pool bar. Tiny beach being washed away. Pools quite nice but noisy music from pool bar much of the time. Food quite nice. Very uncomfortable bed.

My husband and I booked this trip for our first getaway in 5 yrs together without children. After reading the reviews and picking this hotel based on both that it was $****pp w/ airfare from Phoenix for 5 days/4 nights (one of the more expensive all inclusive listed) and the good reviews it received, we did not get the service and level of food and drink we expected. First of all- 3 days after we booked this- the price went down to $***pp for the same exact vacation package... the hotel would not upgrade us and online travel website would not adjust as well. When we arrived at the lobby the staff was unfriendly and scarce to say the least. The first room given to us was on the 2nd floor right above the noisy kids pool. They would not upgrade or move us without having to pay and upgraded $60 per night to receive a higher floor and now a much bigger 2 bdrm/2bath suite which we did not need for the 2 of us. I have to say the room were gorgeous and at this level- the view was beautiful. The food at the buffet was pretty bad and the drinks were made pretty bad too. I couldn;t belive that I was unable to get a Margarita that tasted good in Mexico! I had just been to Cabo the previous month and stayed at the Rui Palace where my experience was 100% positive and this was quite a disappointment. The staff were unfriendly, barely smiling and seemed like they were burdened by our questions. Now for the positives- the pools were clean and so were the grounds- beautiful looking jungle like area. We ventured off to a 5 star restaurant at Le Kliff for my bday celebration which was GREAT!!

I visited Barcelo because a family member got married there. I usually don't stay that south of P.V. The hotel is very secluded. It is very pretty but the service was really bad. The food was not good either. When ever we would ask the waiter for something they would give us a look when at other hotels I have been to in P.V. service is great. The good thing about this hotel are the rooms (they are awesome) and the swimming pools. The beach is very small and the activities at the hotel are almost non-existant. Would I stay here again? probably not. I like staying closer North by the airport where I can walk around P.V. They had really bad service and the people who worked their were not very friendly like at other hotels.

We did nothing but relax and enjoy. It is the perfect place to do absolutely nothing and enjoy every minute of it.

Staff/service (particularly X) excellent, best beds we've had in Mexico, and if we'd have been to this resort before we'd been to other upscale AI, we'd have liked it, but after visiting RIU Palace and other Palace properties, the food and liquor selection and this hotel is less than expected. They have additional charges if you want the upgraded food/booze selections. The only other major complaint is although they have a large, clean children's play area and pool (with water slide), kids constantly invaded the adult pool and monopolized the swim-up bar seats and just generally being kids -- the things they should have been doing in their own pool! The resort was asked by several of us to enforce the rules but failed to.

I traveled with myself and two other adults in my family. We stayed for four nights and five days and had the best vacation ever. The staff is wonderful, they all spoke English well, and did whatever it took to make us happy (which wasn't a lot, the place itself was spectacular). There were lots of fun events planned every day for the guests, from Mexican bingo, water volleyball, water aerobics, darts, a 70's and 80's dance party, and even a circus one night. All free entertainment! The food was great and there were plenty of options - even many American dishes with a slight Mexico twist. There were lots of fresh fruits and veggies too for health nuts like myself. The drinks were great too! :) I met someone here that has been coming back each year for years, and I could do the same!

Service terrible, Food terrible, rooms not cleaned regulerly. I realized why I dont like all-inclusive hotels. You pay first then you are left on your own. I would not recomend this hotel if a person or family wants to be pampered or given your money's worth. Dont let the pics of this hotel fool you!!!! Not want is presented!!!!

we've been to puerto vallarta so many times and stayed on different hotels - heard of mismalloya before and told my wife land kids et's try it - caused I always said to myself to see is to believe this is the third BARCELO hotel we have experienced and so far - one of the best hotel all inclusive we been. maybe other traveller are just having a bad days and didnt get what they wanted - but for us most of the staff are friendly and very helpful - we were treated like we are very special - maybe its how we carry our self with them. from reservation to buffet and fine dining - even if we didn't have any reservation on their fine dining they still took us in and served us with a smile. most of the staff remembers us from the first day we checked in and from the days we checked out. my four teenage boys and their friends was well taken care of by the staff. there is only one issue - the nite life seems to be short most of the live band only performs for one hour and they leave at 11PM and as far the DJ's there is none after the live band leave the premesis. the hotel management should do something to improve the nite life since some of us the party begins at 10PM until 2AM at least. some of us like's to stay in the hotel and party for convinience and take advantage of the all inclusive drinks and food and after hit the room for another day of party and good times. but all in all it is one of the best hotel around PUERTO VALLARTA we will be back.

My friend and I went for a three-day getaway and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of this resort for the price. The room was huge and modern, the food was good, the pools were clean and attractive, and there were tons of fun activities included. The best part was the fantastic service--everyone was genuinely friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We felt like we had made friends with the staff by the time we left. We were sad to go! The downside was that the beach was a bit small and filled with people trying to sell you things. There was music and entertainment by the pool every day, so if you're looking for a very quiet experience this may not be the place for you. Also, if you're looking to hang out in the town of Puerto Vallarta, be aware that it is about a twenty minute drive from the resort on a windy road. Very pretty drive, though!

We had a great time. Our room was wonderful - were paid extra for the upgrade. In addition to a better room, the upgrade gets you free calls to US and internet in a special lounge; special check-in; and dinner reservations every night. We found the food really good; we didn't struggle to find something to eat - lots of options. There are always things you don't like (at home too), but overall there were no worries there. And, the drinks were good and easily available; we had no trouble getting what we wanted and had no concerns with getting sick. The resort is really beautiful and is perfect for relaxing. It is clean and well maintained. We enjoyed watching the beach from our balcony deck each morning. The pools are nice and they have fun activities planned. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is going out to Los Arcos (huge rocks about 10 minute boat ride from hotel) with the on-site dive shop - very choppy water (major motion sickness) and seemed a bit unsafe (i.e. lots of running boats around with propellars right by your head - yikes!!)

worth it values for the cost of the trip - we cant ask for more - staff are friendly and helpful - you got to be positive to have a better trip and good times - always remember you are there to have a good time - dont let one little issues ruin your vacation - we us a family when we travel we make sure the staff and anyone around us understand that we are to be pleased as to the best of their ability nothing more. were not there to give the staff a hardtime or be picky - we were there to have a good time and that's what we did. here's the deal as long as i get up in the morning after partying and enjoying myself - and i dont have to cook and the same goes with lunch and dinner and i dont have to clean after - i call that heaven. we were there to have a great times and went all over puerto vallarta to enjoy ourselves. from canopy trip, boating tour to almost everything we can handle ourselves. we even brought our own especial drinks (cognac and napa valley wine) and other games to keep us busy. we just dont rely on the staff - we want it to be us - our own memory of our good times of our vacation us a family no one else. please dont be picky and have attitude issues just be yourself and enjoy your vacation and have a great time. this is one of the best place to enjoy - except the nite life - management needs to do something about it - like us we would to just to be in the hotel and take advantage of the all inclusive.

This was an amazing trip which I will never forget. The pools and hotubs were always clean and fresh. They had amazing service especially if you tip them well. The people were extremely nice. The food was great at the buffet. The drinks were great but Malibu Rum is preffered for me. The rooms had marble floors, walls, and the balcony floor was marble too! The water is purified in bottles which is good. Water pressure was great. The activites were great too even though I didn't do one of them I baked in the sun all day. I suggest you stay on the resort pools rather than the beach because there are annoying people who sell junk on the beach.. but they are not allowed on the resort. THEY HAD FABULOUS FOOD especially at the buffet. I just loved it.. you must go it is worth every penny. I couldn't have had a better time. If you want to go into town at the Malicon (the main strip in Mexico) you have to take a cab which the bellboys call for you. Its great! Just GREAT! I wish I stayed for 3 weeks rather than 2. If you go DO NOT stay for 1, stay for 2 because my flight was delayed 12 hours so that day was gone, and the day travelling home.. so a 8-day 7-night became a 5-day 4-night. 2 weeks! WAY BETTER TAN TOO. Oh yes one more thing the weather was sunny everyday barely any clouds. No rain at all. What a great trip! Time of your life.

We stayed at the "Barcelo" for 4 days and 3 night which was for sure not long enough! The drive to the hotel is a little crazy like everyone else said it is about 30 to 45 mins from the airport the ride was fun and kinda thrilling! So much to see in such little time! We got to the hotel early evening on the 10th of May little did we know that it was Mother's day in Mexico so we couldn't get reservations for dinner which was just fine with us we kind of expected. The buffet had a wonderful view and pretty good food too I loved the fresh fruit everyday! Our room was MORE THAN WE COULD HAVE EVER ASK FOR! We got a grand master suite on the 8th floor in the tower on the right which gave us premium wraist bands which paid for them selfs. It has a foyer/seating area, guest bath, diningroom/wetbar, living room, huge wrap around balcony that you get the full view from EVERY direction the ocean the condos, the pool, the jungle, everything!!! Our expericence with waitress/waiters/bartenders/maids was awesome they were always smiling and happy to help. We also tipped as much as we could and the look on their faces when they get a tip makes you feel really great! Trust me it is important to tip they don't make near as much as our servers here in the USA. The food was pretty good as a whole we ate at the buffet every morning at the closest table by the ocean the food was great a few things wee just okay or differnt. Capri Resterant which was excellent service, food & Los Arcos was great also. Drinks we yummy to. Thanks Barcel 4 a great honeymoon!

great room, wonderful staff, free internet (but not unlimited). The dining in the buffet was a sad experience.. certainly not to standard Barcelo past experiences. I understand the need to cut costs somewhere, and this is just one of those areas. I wish there was ONE pool for adults only. I am completely creeped out by babies in diapers in pools to the point that I will not go in. With all the pool choices, how about making just one of them for adults only and enforcing it??

This hotel by far exceeded any of my expectations. The service, the food, and atmosphere was outstanding. Every corner of the room was spotless and new. The grounds were constantly maintained. The service staff was beyond helpful. There never was a worry about getting sick on drinking that water or eating the food. The restaurants were excellent and the food was great. The pools, (all 4 of them) were very clean and well kept. There was plenty to do for the kids also. I definitely will go back.

The staff at the front desk was not very friendly but everyone else at the resort was so great that it more than made up for the less than cool reception. I cannot say that all of the food holds up to the 5-Diamond description that they provide, but it is very good. With the All-Inclusive package, most of the dining is from the buffet but it is a very extensive buffet with plenty of options to satisfy every taste. We had priced many other vacation packages and the airline/hotel package we booked through Orbitz allowed us to stay longer for less cost than booking other vacation options separately. The added value of the all-inclusive (meals & drinks) package made it very easy to afford travelling with our 11-year-old son, who can usually break the bank with great ease when it comes to dining. The drinks from the bar were very good and since they were included in our package it made it very easy to just relax and unwind without any concerns about paying the bill. We took scuba lessons through the dive shop located on the resort property. The conceirge was fantastic and she helped us book a canopy tour (zip line) excursion that was absolutely fantastic. The daily activities that were offered by the resort were lots of fun. My spouse and I took Salsa dancing classes, attended a cocktail mixing class, participated in various other games like pool-side bingo. The nightly shows were fun (a little goofy but very fun). [...], one of the activities directors, was excellent. He made it fun to participate in little group activities without taking away from our relaxation time by the pool and down on the beach. We had been to La Jolla de Mismaloya 5 years ago (2004) and had a very good time. The purchase of the property by Barcelo brought in a few improvements that made our trip this time even more enjoyable. I would definately recommend this resort to anyone wanting to get away to the beach for either pure relaxation, complete adventure, or some combination of the two. One of t
