My partner and i stayed at hotel for 10 days. I could not fault it. The room was lovely and clean through out the holiday. There were plenty of activities during day and night, scuberdiving etc.. The restaurants were lovely the mexican our favourite!! I loved every minute of our holiday the staff were very attentive making our stay even better. I would definitely go back, cancun was great!!!

Was told we had a ocean front room, not the case, said they would put us in one the next day, it never happended, staff was every nasty about us wanting what was promised in the reservations. Couldn't enjoy the beach @ a certain time because the tour ships would start there engines and the smell of them where very over whelming.

I booked directly through the hotel which was cheaper. The hotel/room was clean. The staff was more than helpful. The buffet food was great as well as the restaurants. Only meal I didn't like was the mahi-mahi. The drinks were great and strong. The nightly entertainment was pretty good but too bad not more people were in the audience. Had 2 massages and they were wonderful. Too many stairs and almost no beach due to a previous hurricane but the pools were great.

Travelled with a friend just before spring break - had a fantastic time! The beach isn't as beautiful as a lot of others, BUT, the water is very calm which I actually preferred to the open ocean! We spent most of the time sitting in the shallow water! Beach bar is RIGHT on the beach and beach is well maintained every day. Buffet was good - servers were awesome! It's a great hotel for a great deal! Already planning on going back!

I'm not one for writing reviews. In fact, this is the first time I've ever been so horrified as to feel compelled to write a review. I stayed 4 days and 3 nights at Barcelo Costa in March 2009. In all fairness, the hotel itself was relatively clean. I had a minor ant invasion in my room, but the property was okay overall. It was the food and the service that shocked me. First, if you're going to Mexico in hopes of some strong margaritas and some fabulous guacamole, this is not the place for you! The drinks were extraordinarily weak and the food was abhorrently inedible. The "snack bar" was a a series of cheeses that had sat under a heat lamp so long they looked wilted and diseased. The restaurants, with the exception of breakfast, served nothing but sad examples of Mexican cuisine. The bread and tortillas were stale, the meat was old, the vegetables were wilted and the desserts were poorly made and appeared to have sat out for a minimum of 3 days. Second, the service was the worst I have encountered in my life. I have traveled internationally to numerous destinations and have never experienced the extraordinary lack of service as was offered at this hotel. For example, I requested help confirming my shuttle to the airport. I was told by every employee of the hotel that they "did not have an outside line" and that "I would have to call from my room." I had an extremely difficult time believing that a hotel had no outside phone line, but was even more horrified when I was charged $6.00 for a 2 minute local phone call. I could talk for days about how disappointed I was in this trip. Save yourself the headache--don't go!

The hotel was extremely clean. Every morning before anyone was out (besides me and my girlfriend because we are early birds) the pool was being cleaned which is great. The hotel had only three downfalls in my eyes: 1. The room walls were thin. I could hear a lot of noise from our room, for light sleepers like myself it can be tough. 2. Aside from breakfast, the buffet was quite poor. The restaurants were good, and I'm a picky eater. 3. The snack bar/game room is a poor description. It's a card table with no cards, a really poor salad bar, some really budget pizza, and hot dogs with stale buns. These downfalls aren't enough to ruin my three star rating though.

Well, I'll start off by saying that I got a great price!... Well the place in general was clean & staff friendly. The food was horrible!!!.. I think I lost weight well saying the weekend. It's a shame... the hotel has great potential to be so much more...but Overall experience was great.

We recently stayed at the Barcelo Costa Cancun for 5 nights. We have stayed at many other all inclusives in the Carribean and this was the least of them. It was very clean. It had a good beach, most of the other beaches in the Cancun area having been eliminated by the recent hurricanes. The food however was NOT good except for breakfast, the service was great. If you are into healthy eating Good Luck. If you are a young adult wanting to get away on the cheap, this is the place for you. The front desk was not very accomodating, but this is Mexico - it happens. Avoid the sales people in the lobby at all costs - they will tell you they are going to explain what is available to you for your stay but it is a heavy handed sales pitch for their time shares.

I have never stayed anywhere and had so many problems. We were so disappointed. We arrived Monday and were ready to come home Wednesday. 1)Upon arival we were told our room was not ready & were ushered to "guest services". Guest services was a disguise for a TIME SHARE scam, so the hotel basically fed us to the sharks. 2)Our safe didn't work properly & we were told someone would be up right away. Two request & two days later someone finally fixed it. 3)The glasses in the bathroom had lip prints & toothpaste running down the side and all (paper) coasters in our room were really used & should have beed thrown away three guest previous to us. 4)Coffee didn't get replaced in our room for two days. 5)In the buffet restaurant they shake off your place mat & turn it over for the next guest. 6)The phone in our room didn't work. 7)The hot tub in the spa didn't work & if you want to have a massage at the same time as your spouse they charge more than it would cost if you just asked for two massages. 8) Most of the food was not very good. If you ask for anything other than what you see the staff acts like you are slapping them in the face. As a matter of fact most of the staff is not friendly. They seem to wish you would just leave them alone. 9)The evening shows are not good at all. We have been many places & always enjoyed the entertainment but this was very bad. During the day they offer BINGO & WATER AEROBICS! If I could say just one thing to you it would be... DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!

we have to change rooms couple of times... invasion of ants! in the first one, and the view was a dirty parking lot.... the second.... not for 2 people.... it was for 4.... finally the third one was clean enough, partial view to the sea, but! every morning and very early must to say, the maide knock the door just to "check occupancy"????!!!??!! . the service at the beach was good. service at restaurants fair enogh. but the quality of the drinks were terrible, rum from the "house", as wodka, as many cocktails with low low quality for an all inclusive resort ubicated in cancun. barcelo chain is really in debt.

The Barcelo Costa is a great hotel. Our room was a nice size and had a balcony with a hammock. The view was overlooking the highway/parking lot, but it was still lovely! The food was great! There were 3 restaurants to choose from everyday (4 during high season) and a 24 hour snack bar. We heard from a couple who had been to this hotel and others many times that the food here was one of the better in Cancun. The hotel was located 2 minutes from the bus stop that could take you anywhere in town. Overall, my friends and I had a great time at this hotel!

The Barcelo Costa Cancun is a good value for those wanting to vacation on the cheap. The base-level room was spacious and comfortable. The AC did not work very well, so we just used the fan which helped. The shower was a stand-up unit with plenty of room for two people. Likewise, the bathroom was very spacious. Maid service did a good job and kept the mini-fridge stocked. The drinks in the fridge varied; perhaps you can leave a note asking for something particular? The pool area is very nice. In the 12-2 timeframe there are very few chairs free, but otherwise there is plenty of room. The beachfront area iS TINY. Despite this, there are always plenty of chairs. If you really want a gorgeous beach, shop elsewhere. You are also at the mouth of a harbor and there is a fair amount of boat traffic passing directly by the beach front. The biggest downfall is the restaurants. You have to book a reservation at one of the 3 sit-down restaurants on their time schedule, which is annoying. The food at the seafood restaurant is good on the whole, although service can be slow (are you in a hurry?). The buffet restaurant just did not have good quality food. It was the equivalent of a low-end buffet restaurant in America, and I do mean low end. You could find something to eat, but I was never terribly pleased with the food. We didn't make it to the other two restaurants because their silly reservation requirements kept interfering. The drinks are generally watered down on alcohol, unfortunately. The drinks in the sit-down restaurants seem better. Still, you can drink as much as you like and they can make about anything you want. The staff was overall very friendly and helpful. The location isn't great if you want to travel Cancun any - it is a 2+ hour walk to get into the more commercial parts of Cancun. Taxis however are cheap and you can get to the airport for about $20 if I recall. The taxi service leaving the airport is more than double that, so I'd advise taking the shuttle whe

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and were very pleased. Our room was absolutely beautiful and well kept. We considered the food good, but the menu consisted of typical buffet food and various sandwiches and things for room service; which is the kind of food we eat anyway, it might not be for everyone. The beach was small, but the pool was gorgeous and the location of the hotel is within walking distance to A Lot of excursions and things like that. We will definitely go back.

"Our experience at the hotel was great with exceptions. The hotel was beautiful, the food, bar, pool, spa - all great. However the room we stayed in (363) had an awful septic system odor that filled the room the entire time and the housekeeping could have cleaned a little better. But overall, it was worth it."

The hotel itself was very good. Many of the activities did not happen or we were doing our own activities when they actually had them. Their beach was not the best looking one and the people there were topless. Not a good sight for young children. The food was good but you get tired of it. There 24 hour food bar is okay for in between meal snacks. Don't expect to get away with not tipping in MX though. They act like they live on tips alone.

"I was disappointed with pretty much everything. The room was misrepresented by websites, chairs had scuff marks all over them, toilet needed fixed, shower door wouldn't shut right. The beach, sea plants all over it, very small. Staff was horrible, front desk was way rude, was announced that whales could be seen from beach but when guest went back there the staff was laughing at all of us for believing it. Non-motorized water sports, but the water current is so strong you really can't use them there (atleast the paddle boats). We had a great time, but it wasn't because of the hotel"
