The resort was very nice, the set up was great. The beach is very clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious. The only down side was the towels didn't have that clean smell. Also, they can use more interactive activities.

Bavaro Beach was the most beautiful beach we've been to! The language barrier was a little tough, but expected. We loved the location to the airport (quick 15 minute drive) and the beach was absolutely beautiful! The food was very good and we didn't see a single mosquito (or bug for that matter) as many Trip Advisor reviews scared us on. We went with lower than usual expectations and were delighted with our stay at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Premium!

This resort was right on the money. The rates were great and the rooms were good. Maids were great and the room was kept clean. Food was good and the show was great. Front desk had me checked in and to the room in less than 15 minutes. Kids loved the place and the activities were on the market. Luv the scuba lessons!

No Towels first night, no one from resort cared. No food, got in late, again no one cared. Ocean front, what a joke, peek over and around trees Accomodating, not at all,zero and i mean zero customer service Ask the help desk for assitance, it is like a bad Ashton Kutchner prank show, seriously poor!should be called the b****tch behind the table desk!!!! If they had management training it would of come from a security guard at Yankee stadium. Mice in buffet, really, mice running in buffet Please, I tell you DO NOT GO

This was my fist time staying at a Barcelo Resort. My travel agent recommended it but I found it cheaper here. We stayed in a standard room which kind of scared me since there are brand new suites at this resort. The rooms were good and maid service was good. We hardly stayed in the room so a suite was not really needed. Food was good and staff spoke OK english. This is a spanish country so dont expect English to be perfect just as your spanish is not perfect to them! My boyfriend and I had a good time at the clubs and the flee market is about 5 blocks from the resort with great gifts.

We were unwelcomed in this hotel, hospitality is not the greatest, actually there was no hoapitality. Waiters and waitresses were very rude, they did not give us a friendly smile nor ever say "enjoy your dinner". Drinks came to us when we finished our dinner. Since there are other barcelo hotels nearby we were able to take the trolley there and experience other restaurants, big mistake the service was still the same and the staff still miserable. Our room had a few cockroaches and so did the restaurants. We don't know how we continued our stay there but we did. We took it upon ourselves to take a walk to Paradisus Palma Real, and the resort is gorgeous, I regret not staying there, that place is definitely a Palace not Barcelo!!! Please, please do not stay in Barcelo it is old. Spend a few extra bucks on Paradidsus Palma Real, you'll get your monies worth.

Food wasn't the best. Try to pack some granola bars or other snacks unless you want to purchase a small bag of doritos for $7. We got sick towards the end and didn't feel right until almost three days after we got back. Make sure you pack some pepto or other stomach meds just in case. Drinks were very strong - cheaper to add more alcohol than the mixers. Staff wasn't too friendly, especially the bartenders. House Keeping staff did a great job keeping the rooms clean. Many weird smells throughout the resort. Smelled weird combinations of gas, ocean and cleaning product. Smell was especially bad in the elevator area. Try to stay in the deluxe suites. Rooms are very spacious and the hot tub on the balcony overlooking the ocean is awesome. Three of the five resorts in the complex were closed. Guests were not made aware of the closures until they arrived and were placed at the palace. Resorts were closed because they were "under renovation"?!?! As a result of the closures, less dining option too. Spoke with many who had stayed at the palace before and they said that things were much nicer a year or so ago. Like many areas, it appears that they may be feeling the impact of the financial downturn.

After another member of our party finally (after 2 hours) got into her room, the trip was fine. We were dissappointed with her check in on a late Saturday night-staff at front desk was not helpful at all. If you want an awesome BEACH this is the place to go. Rooms are dated and the food is OK. We liked that you didn't have to get up early to get a beach chair, there were plenty. The food and staff at La Pina (lunch grill) was great.

room overall looks were good but it was an older room that should have been renovated. It smelled AWFUL!!! It was bad enough that my husband and I didn't want to stay in our room. Also, our patio furniture was taken off our deck during our stay and it was almost impossible to get it back, due to the staff not understanding what we were talking about and also having to go to the front desk several times to get it back.

The staff were wonderful! The service that we received was fantastic. Our room was ok but we didn't spend much time in it anyway. There was a lot of different activities and tours offered to keep you busy. We were never bored and we also still got the time to relax by the beautiful beach. The weather was great and there was always a breeze. I will definitely go back and next time for much longer! The front desk did take some time with the check in but the rest of the week anything we needed was done immediately and efficiently.

I had a great time at the Barcelo Palace. The resort was amazingly clean, grounds were beautiful and constantly maintained. There was always a lot of staff members around who all seemed pretty happy. Food was amazing. I was surprised how good it was. Certainly never expected such good food from an all-inclusive. The steakhouse was our favorite, right on the water with great food. Our rooms were cleaned nicley everyday. Most of the rooms have a view of the ocean, and if not they overlook the beautiful lush scenery. Tipping the maids is a good idea, they don't get paid much and i think they do a better job when theres a tip left, but certainly not necessary. Beach was beautiful and endless. Water was perfect temperature. Just an overall great trip. There is such a large demographic of people who can stay at the Palace. Families, lovers, friends, and teens all can enjoy this hotel and the others in the complex. Everything went smooth with this whole vacation, will definatly book with travelocity again.

We have been going to Barcelo Bavaro Palace since 1994 and we always want to go back. People are very customer oriented, very friendly and the beach is the best in Punta Cana. The only thing that we would like to see improve is the lobby and the place for the nightly show which they do not have air conditioning and is very hot. We recommend this place to everyone. Is a Great Place for vacationing, to eat well and to rest!!!

I was desperate to get away from a vigorous work schedule and and a cruel Montreal winter for under $ (cad).This resort turned out to be exactly what I needed. I got back on Sunday Feb 22,2009 from a 1 week stay.Everyone I dealt with:the bartenders, housekeeping staff , waiters and waitresses, chefs and the people at the front desk were polite, professional and efficient.I approached everybody with a smile no matter what the problem was.They seem very amused at my broken Spanish. None the less, things that went wrong,( i.e., our safe in the room wasn't working ) got taken care off by the end of the day. The food at the buffets were rather flavorless for the most part save for a few select dishes. The restaurants however, like the steakhouse and the beach side grill near the market served up much better tasting food. The premises were clean and well looked after as was the beach. I felt being friendly and patient with the staff served me well, and I did not shy away from tipping when I felt an extra effort was made.It is remarkable what a smile and little generosity can do.Having say that, I brought with me 40 1 dollar us bills solely for tipping.This money was distributed over the course of 7 days and 21 meals and countless drinks.It bought me peace of mind, friendly and effective service. I would go back without hesitation.

Quick holiday 2007 holiday for 6 days. Its really a 3 Star resort. Having traveled to many of the islands Mexco, Costa Rica, Africa, India, Europe often one can run into snags on the vacation so to have high expectations can be disapointing, so if your the up tight kind of traveler dont go here. REading in advance other reviews I had an open mind at the Barcelo Palace having stayed at Barcelo in Costa Rica (which was great). The palace provides access to all other Barcelo resorts with the gold arm band. But when going to the other resorts down the beach expect that the bartender will shun you at the lower priced Barcelo's thinking your a snob. Less kids at the Palace as its more expensive which is good if your without them. Service on check in is very slow. Very little management onsite anywhere and the staff provide poor service in most cases. Bed was comfortable,room small , Casino is very lousy. I am still having stomach problems from the food, 3 weeks later. You have to pay extra for decent drinks other than local cheap rum. Only one kind of beer, not light beer either, but okay. Grounds are well done, the chairs always availalble. Pool okay. French restaurant did have fantastic service and food, but its an extra. Mexican okay, beach grill w fresh meats, fish, veggies was good. Buffet line fair, always flys on the meat with did not look appealing. shuttle to other resorts good, but you can also walk to much of the other 4 resorts. Since tips are part of the all inclusive already, staff really does not try to provide good service, perhaps tipping extra might get attention.

The Barcelo Bavaro Palace Resort was very nice place and confortable but a few thing made this resort not what you would think of. We went with a couple of people and we all took five differents room in different locations. No one was please with this resort. At first we thought it was a four or five stars resort, take a look again it was anything but.

Food was good, staff always busy but doing their best to keep you happy. Excellent premises, nice pools, great beaches and friendly guests. We had a great time. As it is a all inclusive, they try to rip you off when they can charge you for something, but still is not that expensive. The casino is not that great as it is very small and the tables play very simple games.

The beach is fantastic, the Palace should be called a hotel this is not a Palace by any means I HAVE never been to a Palace that charged extra for a brand name drink, I never been to a Palace that offered two English channels for free (CNN and a reglious channel), you pay extra for TBS,ESPN, OR MOVIE CHANNEL.Service for me was terrible at the buffet restaurants, I would finish when they would come pour water, ran out of orange juice in one breakfast, no cleans towels the first day I was there when I went back 5 hours later they tool me they still didn't have any towel it wasn't till another older couple showed up and I complained that they found a towel for me and the older couple. First night in the seafood restaurant no broil lobster.so I ordered crab,afredo noddles crab was all shells and no loose crab meat. This palace was just another hotel on the property. Save your money and catch a bus.
