When we arrived at the hotel we discovered we'd been upgraded to Barcelo Bavaro Palace -woot! The check in process was very slow due to the fact the front desk staff completely ignored us for 10 min. The room was alright (probably really great before the last hurricane..) but now it and all the linens reaked of mildew. The food was decent but after 8 days of the same things we were ready for some good old American food. DO NOT DRINK THE WATER... you will be very sorry. DO bring lots of immodium because regardless of if you drink the water they use it to cook and wash food. My boyfriend and I are not heavy drinkers and we did tip but it didn't matter. We are in our twenties and are American so we received NO service. We seriously waited at the bar while the bartenders talked to each other or helped other guests for 20 min. All in all.. the beach was beautiful but we will not go back to this hotel.

I will not go back or recommend anybody to the Bavaro Caribe. Rooms small, towels were not good either. They changed me from one room to another. Sitting on the toilet water was dripping on you from the second floor A/C on the second room water was dripping over the sink just the same crap. You guys never turned our money in and they had no information of us at all, you gave our money to another travel agency that never reported our reservation, I will never do business with you and I will tell this story to all of my friends, one week In Punta Cana and the first 3 days we spent fighting with the main desk, because they would not give us a room unless we paid them.

I don’t know why people here are complaining so much about this place, because we went there for Thanksgiving weekend and it was FANTASTIC! You can't beat what you get for the price; in fact you get what you paid. If you want some luxury, go somewhere else but if what you want is to have fun and drink a lot, then this is the place to stay at. I must admit that after reading the reviews given here, I was so scared to arrive at this hotel, but know that we had the experience, I would return there. The staff could have been friendlier, especially at the front desk, but it was not important. Swimming pool was very clean and towels were available all the times. Alcohol is included, and they even give you a frappe at check-in. The gift-shop is quite expensive, but if you bargain you can get better prices at Plaza Artesanal. Food was awesome; they even had yummy desserts and beverages. They had these amazing shows at night, and every night is different. The best part of it is that you can get to the other resorts by this little train and enjoy food, shows, disco, and casino there. The steak house is also included and food there tastes yummy. We are definitely going back to Barceló Caribe.

we just got back from Barcelo Caribe hotel and trying to put together a little slideshow with sound, but i didn't get a chance to ask anyone about the music that was always playing; especially when they were doing the acivities by the pool or the beach. Can anyone help me with the artist or the song titles? Thanks guys! I plan on returning to Punta Cana as soon as possible.

Close to the beach. Did not enjoy the food, was not tasty. Rooms were old and not updated. Water was leaking from air-conditioning constantly. Needed to be careful. We were unable to get a room for four hours after we had arrived from the airport from a long flight. They told us we need to talk to the manager to take care of the situation, they kept telling the manager would be there the following day, not till 3 days later did he show up. They wanted to take my credit card again and I hesitated at first because I did not want to be billed twice, but at the end I did so in order to have a place to stay.

I do resort vacations quite frequently, two to three times a year for over a decade. This is the first time that I am writing a review, not in spite, but to warn potential vacationers. It started at check in when we were told that there were no rooms available, due to renovations to one of their sister Hotels. It took FOUR Hours for them to sort that out. No concessions or apologies were given. The first day was essentially wasted. To make up for the lost day, we got up early the following day, about 9am, to go to the pool when we were told that the beach towels had not been cleansed yet and we would have to wait, again. This will be easier if I just listed their short comings. Thermostat in room did not work. Television didn?t work properly. Telephone instructions on the phone did not work, when I contacted front desk about this, they were quite aware of this, they just chose to keep the old numbers, and instructions posted in the room. There was a room service menu in the room, but when I called, I found out that there was in fact no room service available. Bars in the hotel did not open at posted times. We had four people in the room and they gave us a room with two full size beds stuck together, and only two towels. This list goes on, but I think this should be enough to deter anyone. BTW, the food was lousy. I will say the beach and the pool area was beautiful.

I have written a review before, but this hotel was so bad, I had to.We had no hot water our frist day.The food was HORRIBLE.All drinks are NOT included.Bring cash(no credit) for Absolut.Staff was VERY unfriendly. One of the staff entered my room using a master key...never identified himself. You must pay for most of the restaurants. The tables never had any silverware or napkins.Even if they gave me a free week,I wouldn't go back. A horrible experience.Oh, and I don't know what that last reviewer was talking about with a swimup bar....there was none at my hotel.

This hotel was really nice especially bc it was in the complex of all the Barcelo hotels. The staff was amazing and became great friends with them. Go to the night shows they are the best and will have you laughing all night. The food cold have a better selection- but over great place would visit again soon!

After a week stay, my room was cleaned after 3:00pm, for a few days after numerous complaints. Guests were eaten alive by mosquitos, staff does not spray like in other resorts. Stay away from souvenier shops 3.00us for a package of candy, 4.00 potatoe chips; etc.& bring the mosquito repellant if it rains you need it. Food ok, great for families not for singles.

We had stayed at this hotel three years ago and had no complaints. Its a vacation no matter what its better than work right? Wrong! I really dont want to make more of this than what it is, but we were eaten alive by bugs in our room. We had mosquitoes that we killed every night and the slider was never left open. We had to have had bugs in our beds because our ankles and shins were discusting, as I noticed alot of other peoples also. Then there were the Columbians, our floor was full of them clapping and singing up and down the hall every night from 2am til 6am. After about 5 nights security stayed on our floor all night to keep them quiet.I have to admit they were very happy people and very annoying. As far as the rooms they were very dirty. I know they were not like that last time I was there. The food was okay, the staff was okay, people need to remember their not on vacation, you are. Tipping always helps and they do need the money. If I went back I would stay at the Palace but Ive been to D.R. 5 times and I think its getting a little more corrupt every year. Just remember, the beach is great as is the pool, and drinks are free. Plus youre on vacation.

I've taken vacations all over the world. The most important thing ...bring amodium AD. We became very sick. And were very careful. Out of the 13 resturants only 4 are included. The rest are 20 to 30 P/P per meal. TV is even extra. The grounds and beach are very pretty. The staff is very un-friendly and room service. Ha! I talked to a lot of people at the airport. They liked their place. Go to someplace else. This is not good at all.

When we arrived to check in we were told that they had overbooked, my heart sank, they in turn upgraded our vacation package to the Royal Catalonia Bavaro, it was a beautiful place, excellent accomodations, super clean with fresh flowers in your room daily, the staff was great, beach lovely, many interesting trips to take. This resort is for adults only so it made it extra special. Definitely going back.

I am from the dominican Republic and i went there with my family for my sweet 15, which is something spabish people celebrate as the equivalent of the sweet 16. It was my pregnant mother, my dad, and my 5 year old brother. We all had a good time. My mom couldnt drink but she loved everything else. The food wasn't outstanding compared to other hotels i have visited, the italian restaurant made me sick the only night i ate there, byt all the other ones are fairly good. My dad could drink, and he loved it! the staff are very good at suggesting drinks. I had the birthday of my life! The day of my birthday (12/05) the main restaurant made me a cake and members of the staff came over and sang happy birthday. My room was very comfortable and clean, the sheets were changed everyday as well as the towels and everything else. Inside the closet of the room there is s little fridge with sodas and beers, for free. I always left my make up and jewelry in the bathroom sink and nothing was ever stolen so it was very safe. I also really liked that at the pool area there was a little kiosk where you get as many dry towels as you needed, with a special card they give you. My little brother enjoyed it too, there was a really nice playgound and every night they performed a kids show. The kids pool is pretty safe but you still should supervise your child The adult show is at the casino and its GREAT! Its famous all over the country P.S>> The beach is very clean and nice the staff teaches aerobics there...very fun! I defenetly recommend

"You can't beat what you get for the price. The staff could have been friendlier but they didnt ruin my time. Alcohol is included, rooms are RIGHT on the beach. The pool is really nice it has a swim-up bar . The food was adequate, but you can travel to the other hotels (by this little train) & eat at the other hotels. Overall.not luxury but..perfect for the price..we are definitely going back!!"
