A great place to stay. Is along the bus line and easy walking distance to the ocean. Beautiful view from the room. Staff very accomodating. Can sit on the sand right outside your room and see and hear the fireworks from Sea World every night at 9:55 pm. The seal pool is entertaining. Pool and jacuzzi are clean and enjoyable. The hot Chocolate is great. The boat ride is a nice way to spend an evening. The only negative was that we wer on the 4th floor and there was a wedding on the 5th floor and it was very noisey until midnite. We had a wonderful trip.

Nice location, close to the beach, close to Sea World.

When first arriving to the hotel, it looked a little old and outdated. It is a bit. We stayed in the huge tower type complex and the rooms were really good sized. They had a small microwave, refrigerator and some shelves in case you were staying for a week. You could easily reheat your meals in your room. Bring in snacks and drinks that might need refrigeration. The bathroom was nice and good sized. It's right on a bay on one side and near the beach on the other side just down the street. It's easy walking distance to the beach with lots of great places to shop. They have two sea lions in a swimming area just in front of the cafe at the hotel. They are fun to watch. The grounds are kept looking nice and there are other units that appear to be different from the tower. We were there for a wedding and it took place on the back side of the pool. There was a little water pond, with palm trees and a gazebo. It was a perfect place to have the wedding. I would recommend this hotel if you are interested in being close to the beach and are able to walk short distances.

I planned a trip to this hotel because it looked nice, clean and like a resort on the web page. It is not a stretch for us to pay 200-300 a night for rooms, that are high quality---this was awful...a nightmare..disgusting and a waste of my money. My family and i were expecting to stay in a resort...this was not a resort...it was disgusting. The pictures on the web page are false advertising. The pool is cramped and dirty. There is nobody available at the pool to get soft drinks or food..not that I would have ordered any. The bedrooms are dingy. The whole experience was one of the worst. I wish we had switched hotels but time did not allow. If you want a nice vacation at a nice hotel tTHIS IS NOT WHERE YOU SHOULD VACATION. The seal pool has 2 sickly seals. My daughter was horrified when she saw the blind, sickly seals and wanted us to call the humane society. We are currently in the process of doing just that. It is inhumane to have those seals in such shallow dirty water. I would recommend you stay somehwere else....this is not worth your money, time, energy or vacation time ---BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!

We really enjoyed the location and Bay-view. It was also very nice to walk three blocks and be at the ocean. We also thought the Stern-wheeler cruise was a nice touch. Our rooms were cleaned daily and the service was very good. We also enjoyed the tropical vegetation and flowers. We intend to stay again.

This place was okay, definitely not worth $* per night. Older hotel, the room was not very well maintained, definitely in need of major updates. The service however was good, the staff friendly, the restaurant good, I just couldn't get over how old the room was. It would have been okay if it would have been updated at some point. Location is good though.

It started with a 90-minute wait for my reserved room (guaranteed to be ready at my 4:00 arrival time). The old room had a brick wall, a broken shower and no ventilation in the bedroom. Even a simple request for more towels required 3 phone calls and another hour of waiting.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Bahia. The location was perfect for visiting Mission beach, stopping to get a giant Mexican dinner at one of the nearby restaurants, doing some tourist shopping, and even sailing right on the bay at our hotel. We felt very connected with the surroundings, but amazingly still had peace and quiet at the hotel. Hotel was clean and the staff friendly. The only complaint we could think of was the fact that the Bahia wasn't using water saving devices on their plumbing and the shower water came out so forcefully that we felt guilty wasting water plus the drains couldn't keep up with the rapid water flow. One more thing I thought of was the fact that they had only minimal laundry facilities, and you might have to wait a long time to get yours done.

We arrived at check in time and was told to wait for 5 to 10 minutes for the room to be cleaned. I was furious in waiting the front desk staff was not giving me any follow up on the room. I went to the counter again after almost 30 minutes of waiting and the supervisor saw me standing in front of the counter and helped me I told him the situation and he got on the computer and immediately gave me my room keys. As I entered the room I was shocked he gave me a suite the view is in front of the bay. Thats what I call customer service by far. X is his name and he was very professional and I will be staying there again in the future. Clean rooms no bad comment about Bahia except for the front desk staff lack of professional courtesy to wards their guest.

Our room was old and shabby, with dust and hair on the floor, someone's shoes left behind under the bed. The horrible part of our stay was when we woke up at 5:30am and our 2 year old son had left the room and gone wandering in the parking lot. Hotel security luckily found him and had him as we frantically were searching for him. The room (#129) didn't have the security latch on it that every hotel I have stayed in for as long as I can remember has had. He was able to pull the door knob and leave. The wall mounted airconditioner/heater was so loud, it would have been impossible to hear him go.Needless, to say, we checked out that morning and stayed at the Hyatt Mission Bay, which was wonderful. But even if you don't have small children, shouldn't you be able to lock your hotel from the inside securely?

I'll admit I was was'nt expecting much. After I booked my trip on orbitz,I checked other websites reviews of the Bahia and most wer'nt very good. They claimed the resort is old and dirty and worst of all the rooms had a mildew smell. The room I had was a garden view suit,on the second floor of the main building.True the resort is older, but my rm was very clean and didnt smell at all. The furnishings were nice.Even if there would have been a problem the staff were helpful and pleasant. The only issue I could see, there are banquet rooms on the top floor of the building, while we were there there were 2 partys and we could hear the noise on the 2nd floor. It wasnt bad for us but it must have been loud for the rooms directly under .Overall I would recommend this resort,It's clean and inexpensive.

the resort is fairly old (we knew that going in), but we are nostalgic people, so that did not bother us. as long as a place is clean, we don't care how old it is, and the bahia is clean. we stayed in a nice suite, but there was no coffee table in front of the couch and loveseat. but the bedding was very clean, and we liked the fact that they put a bottom sheet, then a top sheet, then a blanket, then another top sheet. that felt very cozy and clean. the car traffic pattern was a little strange due to the exits at one end of the resort being closed. the restaurant and bar were somewhat dark and uninviting, so we did not try them. but overall, we liked the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, and the cleanliness of the room. it was a very good value, and i think we would go back.

Disappointed is an understatement. The rooms were dingy. They claimed the beds were queen but were really full. Fitting to people was a tight squeeze. The shower heads were so low it was hard to fit under them and I am small so I can?t imagine how a tall person would fit. We had a bayfront room but you could not enjoy it because the grass leading to the bay was covered with bird crap so you had to walk all the way around to get to the beach anyway. After the first night they had to move our room because of the bugs from the sliding doors. There is a picture of the hotel in the 1950?s in the gift shop and it looks like it did then. I would never go back or recommend this to anyone. I have stayed in Sherton and Holiday Inns nicer than this for a lot less.

I booked a hotel for my husband's 40th birthday on December 6th. I booked it at The Bahia Resort in San Diego. I paid the extra price for the room upgrade. When we arrived there, the hotel staff was extremely rude, they stuck us in a HORRIBLE room that smelled like mold and told me that they know NOTHING about an upgrade offer and they would not be able to honor it. I called housekeeping and asked for air freshener, they never came. We stayed away from the room as much as possible. I really wish I would not have spent that much on a room that smelled like a dirty laundry bin, had NO heated pool (unlike it was stated in their profile), and had such uncaring staff on hand. Not my idea of a resort or a good place to take my husband for his 40th birthday.

We stayed at the Bahia to celebrate my birthday and had a wonderful time. The check in was easy, we were given a room that had a full kitchen and living area. It was very clean, quiet and comfortable. It even had a view of the marina and a outside patio. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were going to a concert down town, we were given directions by the front desk and found our way with no problem. Arriving back late from the show we felt very safe and secure parking the car and going back to the room. I will definitely stay at this hotel again. Very good price, very good place.

The hotel upgraded us to a suite, which was wonderful. Our twins had plenty of room to run around. The hotel staff was very friendly. The location was great and easy to access the fun stuff!

We stayed in a Bayview Suite. Kitchen was supplied with microwave, place settings for 4 people. We were able to see firework show from Seaworld. Quiet. Nice dining area, indoors and outside seating. The only negative would be the late, 4 pm check in time. A futon may be a better living room bed than the couch pull-out bed. My daughter got married in their garden area, had the reception in a recently remodeled room looking out to the two paddleboats. Afterwards, some of the wedding party took a night cruise of the bay on the Bahia Belle. Great wedding site.

My family and I took a leisure trip to San Diego for 6 days. Our stay at the Bahia was fine, it's nothing spectacular, just ok. The staff was accomodating in allowing us to switch to another room. Our first room was located in the tower and was supposedly remodeled, however I could not tell. The view was a "garden" view room. However, it faced the maintenance building and the room was very dark and depressing, although it did have a small kitchenette and a sofa. We switched to a smaller bungalow room, but the atmosphere was so much better, right on the beach facing the marina, much more positive and pleasant. The Bahia is very bare bones and the same owners own the Cataraman Resort across the bay. I get the feeling that the Cataraman is the chosen one, and the Bahia is the overlooked stepsister. The restaurant was weak, very poor service, never very busy which I think said alot. The business center was not a business center at all,but one extremely small cubicle, with one computer, one printer, and one fax. Having said all of this, the price was fair. However, if we come back to the San Diego area, I doubt we will stay at the Bahia.

We had a room facing the play ground and the privite beach. good if you have kids as we did but not good if you don't, very loud. many weddings on the beach in front of room meant you had to wait to use beach. this is a very busy hotel with seminares and daily meetings so we never had a parking spot in front of our room until late every evening even though they give you a parking pass for your car they never enforced it. there was a party in the room next to ours one nite and they used our patio and chairs while we were in our room until 1am there simply is no effective security. Room service was timely but the three times we used it there was always something missing and the morning we left I had to make two calls and explain what the menu said I was to get and what they brought was not the same. housekeeping was the same always missing something, one day now towels, the next no coffee for the coffee maker, or no hand towels, or no new soap. the staff was always nice and friendly just not very consistant. This is an old hotel but it is clean if not very modern and the location is very good. It is a good hotel if you have children but not if you are looking piece and quite. I would stay here again only to have a room further down the beach.
