What are your breakfast options?

Breakfast, start with our own restaurant, Jim Oliver's Smoke House. Breakfast is served 6:30am till closing at 9:00pm. It includes smoked country ham, sausage, our own Hickory smoked bacon, eggs anyway, omelets, pancakes, cheese grits, homemade biscuits, our own fruit jams and jellies, and all the other trimmings. The Smoke House specializes in traditional Southern recipes handed down from generations of family cooks. Cost range from $1.99 to $9.99.

Other breakfast options are Waffle House and McDonalds.

What transport is available to get around?

There is no taxi or public transportation here, so a rental car to get around the area is advisable. Groom Transportation has shuttle service from Nashville, Chattanooga, Atlanta airports and have over 17 trips over the mountain everyday.

What can I do nearby?

Entertainment at Jim Oliver's Smoke House. Every Saturday night, free live Nashville music, in the dinging room of the Smoke House. Legendary and up & coming independent singers and songwriters perform their own songs and lyrics, just like they do in the Nashville Honkey Tonks and music bars, except these shows are more laid back acoustic low key, low volume shows, featuring solo, duo, and group acts. Show starts at 7:30pm till 10:30pm. No smoking environment, beer, coolers, full menu from the Smoke House Restaurant. Children & friendly environment. NO cover charge.

Also at the Smoke House, in the Old General Store Trading Post is the "Louvin Brothers Museum", no charge, open daily 6:30am-9:00pm, everyday of the year. Country Music Hall of Fame Members, Legendary mega hit singers and songwriters, their memorabilia, photos, videos, albums, and artifacts displayed for the public viewing. 28-hit albums and CDs not found elsewhere, and DVDs available for sale to the public.

Also at the Smoke House is the Historic Attraction Moonshiner Museum, no charge, open daily 6:30am-9:00pm, everyday of the year. Moonshiner artifacts, real moonshine stills, video demonstrations, folklore, storytelling by Hamper McBee, our local Moonshiner, tells how to make moonshine that will "Slap you in the creek!".

The Old General Store Trading Post, at the Smoke House, shopping for regional trinkets, antiques, souvenirs, homemade fudge (16 fresh flavors) and taffy (26 flavors), 30 flavors of old fashioned soda fountain glass bottled drinks, Watkins Old Fashioned Health Care Remedies and personal care products, a 1920's Player Piano, BBQ & Hot Sauces, Smoked Meats, Antiques, toys, and more at this Vintage old fashioned and nostalgic store.

Across the street, the Monteagle Winery, makes their own Tennessee Mountain wine, over 12 varieties to choose here from Merlot to Muscadine, free samples and no admission. Open 9:00am-6:00pm everyday, year round.

Across the street, Mountain Outfitters, featuring all the clothing and accessories you'll need for outdoor adventure and casual attire. Rock climbing gear, camping gear, hiking gear, footwear and clothing for your your outdoor activities.

Here in our area, The South Cumberland State Park, featuring over 10,000 acres of outdoor Mountain Adventures of hiking, camping, birding, canoeing, swimming, waterfalls, bluffs, rock climbing, caving, off road 4x4, zip line, wild flower trails and tours, guided trips with State Rangers thru all areas of the park. Open year round, welcome center in Monteagle open 8:00am-5:00pm, 3 miles from the Smoke House on US 41.

5 miles west on US 41A/64, to Sewanee, home of The University of the South, a prestigious Liberal Arts School has unique Gothic architecture featuring styles from Oxford England. No formal tours, but maps may be picked up at the campus book store in the middle of campus, that will show guest their way around the beautiful quaint campus of cut stone and huge trees.
