Weekend break June 09Upon arrival at the hotel we were treated very well and made feel very welcome. The room was fantastic and very clean. The service at the pool bar was a little slow, and food did not have much flavour. The hotel redeemed its self however when we ate at the restaurant one evening. We were very suprised (after our rather dissapointing lunch by the pool) at how professional the service was. The food was amazing and very good value for money! We will be returning to the hotel for sure.

They allowed us to check in our bads since our flight arrived early. This gave us the opportunity to explore this amazing city. Our second day I informed the staff that the jacuzzi was cold and there was no bottled water on any of the floors. The next day, nothing had changed. I asked to speak to the manager and he was there within minutes. He was very nice and corrected the issues immediately. There was a fun party on the rooftop one night and a great movie night on another. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. The room was small but nice and the bed was big. We met some nice people at the hotel as well. Two computer in the business center. They do offer converters and IPod docking stations at the front desk. The little cafe across the street was wonderful for breakfast. Stay away from the Puma restaurant, it made me sick. Many enjoyable other restaurants in the area. WARNING: You will experience some noise right now, there is major construction next door and can be noisy.

It was an excellent location, the front desk spoke all language fluently, fast service, super clean modern rooms......and actual hotel that could live in for the rest of your life. Just amazing. I cant wait to go back!!

This hotel is 100% catered to the Gay & Lesbian crowd. Good facilities. Excellent rooms. Al very clean. Good food. Excellent location.

From the moment of my arrival to the morning of my departure I found the staff in this hotel to be very welcoming, accomodating, friendly, and most helpful. To me this is very important wherever I stay. Axel is super modern, classy, spotlessly clean, and is in a superb location within easy walking distance of Las Ramblas, and some great bars are right in the neigborhood. I would not stay anywhere else in Barcelona. Just one suggestion: It would be nice to have an iron and ironing board included in the rooms.

This hotel is a great hotel, that happens to be gay run. However, it is modern, clean with a great sleek decor. The location is right in the middle of everything. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Don't be deceived by the age of the building--this hotel is thoroughly modern. Everything is very new and up to the minute. If your taste is Euro-modern, Hotel Axel will please you. Bath fixtures, lighting, even the LCD TV are very modern.The location is great, the staff very helpful, the room comfortable. We'll stay there again.

We are a gay couple and love the location of the Axel Hotel, and have stayed there before. However, we were disappointed in the condition of the roof top pool/bar/spa. We went early in the morning and late in the evening; no clean towels, used towels on the floor. Steam bath was not clean. Walls around the pool need a paint job. We also had no bed cover on our bed when we arrived, though that was quickly remedied by a call to the front desk.

The staff were friendly and very helpful, good recommendations for getting around the city and restaurant recommendations.
