A Plug for AXAMy only adverse comment is :-There was no plug to the washbasin in the room . Reception told me that the hotel does not provide them as guests sometimes leave taps running and floods result !!!!The Hotel Room was exactly as I requested. Quiet, non smoking etc.The Hotel provided good clean basic facilities, and from the information given prior to booking came up to my expectations. It was a pleasant stay being good value for money with friendly helpfull staff.

Pros: Location, big rooms, Swimming Pool and Gym Cons: Room Service (Practically was a phantom one. Only when they could they came). Noise (Vacuum Cleaner noise at 6:30!!!). Breakfast (You have to be fast and swift to get some breakfast. No cups, forks, tea spoons, napkins, plates, fruits if you were late of a lot of people showed up at the same time), Room (The heat was not so high for this period and the bathroom heater was not working. The hot water was upon request and had to have the tab open for 10 minutes to have some hot shower. Finally, the TV was 14' in a distance of 5m, so it was too hard to watch more than few minutes)

Good for the priceBasic hotel, decent size rooms, clean, and only 10 mins walk from Old Town Sq. Customer Service (ie: reception) very unwelcoming, neither of the staff I dealt with could manage a smile. Breakfast was typical for Prague, OK but the quality left a bit to be desired. Overall for the price this was OK (€45), but if you're here for a romantic break or on expenses, avoid!

Smokey HallwaysMany people in Eastern Europe smoke. This was especially true at AXA Hotel. The smoke would seep into my room from the hallway. I even put towels at the base of the door to try to block entry; even this did not work well. The overall quality of the room and the location of the hotel were fine. I found the gentleman who worked at the reception desk to be a bit gruff.

The Reception staff either did not speak good English, or were just very very rude (not the best way to get a first impression of Prague after a long journey). Breakfast is served 7-11, but if you go after 9am, be prepared to be disapoointed (there is nothing left). The rooms are ok, no information brochure or mini bar, and the bathroom has no shower curtain or screen, so if you want a shower, you have to either crouch down in the bath or risk flooding the bathroom. Caution, the taps are marked te wrong way round too!
