We paid as much as we would for at least a four-star boutique hotel for what turned out to be a glorified Comfort Inn. There was a standard dry continental breakfast, a small room with no mini-bar. There was a list of restaurants which deliver (instead of anything like room service) but it was so old it had ads for Countrywide Home Loans, so not all the restaurants still existed. There wasn't even nice shower curtain. It was very bare-bones. The bed was comfortable, but the view was of a parking lot, and there was a sharp smell, like some kind of mildew, and the paint worn and the carpet in the common hallways was very stained. No premium channels on the TV, either. If I was paying what one pays at a Comfort Inn, it would not have bothered me, but this cost well over $400 a night. I would not recommend this to anyone, at this price.

Only a few minutes' walk from the beach, Avania Inn is a clean, friendly place to stay. You won't find numerous amenities, but if a clean, well-equipped room; friendly staff; and a tasty continental breakfast suit you, Avania Inn is a bargain. It has ample off-street parking, a small but clean pool, in-room coffee, and the standards you expect: cable, a dryer, a mini-fridge, iron and board, and plenty of towels. The beds are firm and comfy. We'll stay there again!

My sister and I were up in Santa Barbara just for an evening concert and decided to spend the night. This hotel was perfect. Two queen beds, friendly and helpful staff, cute decor, good price...

We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again. I was there w/ my family so the breakfast (which included waffles) was a great deal. The room was very nice, clean & spacious. Nice to have a frig, coffee maker and large flat screen TV too! The decor of the place was great! We loved the colors and furnishings! The lady behind the counter was helpful and friendly. Check out the beautiful colored hardword floor in the lobby! Great all around!

We were in town for a concert. While this location was not close to the Bowl, we found it very convenient, friendly & clean. The staff was very nice and the breakfast was decent. It is close to the water, pier, and good eats...all within walking distance. We would stay here again.

The hotel is definitely in a good location and reasonably nice for the price. I was a little leary when I pulled up as it looks like a mediocre motel. But the inside is surprisingly fresh with stylish decor. Continental breakfast was nice. Front desk clerk was unfriendly.

My husband and i stayed at Avania for 2 nights. The rooms were small but nice and had nice new flatscreen tvs. The location was GREAT. Walking distance from the beach, the wharf, State Street shopping, and a close drive to the Mission and other attractions. We enjoyed our stay.

Overall this was a great bargin and the view was great. Bathroom sink was clogged but it was fixed right away. Spa was broken so couldn't use. Staff was very friendly and is in a quiet part of town. Balcony was small but had two chairs so it worked out ok.
